This is one of the most exquisite hotels I have stayed in. The staff are perfection so solicitous and helpful. Shout out to Esme and Fritz for their help. I have stayed here twice now and each has been perfect. A must for a third visit, I can’t wait to come back.

Honestly, I'm not that crazy about South Beach, but I'd go back just to stay at the Betsy. It's an entire experience of its own. Honestly, I'm not that crazy about South Beach, but I'd go back just to stay at the Betsy. It's an entire experience of its own. It began when we checked in and the super kind, helpful man upgraded us to an oceanfront room ( we would definitely do this ourselves next time: well worth it), and when we got up there, it was a whole suite with a fabulous view of the water. We had our own little sitting room which is very nice when 1 person is tired and wants to go to bed and the other wants to sit up and read a little bit. The bathroom was huge. I mean immense. Like you can rack up steps between the shower controls and the shower head. But lying in bed and watching the water was the piece de resistance. We were on our way somewhere so we decided to eat in. We went downstairs and had a drink in the palmy bar, feeling very old Florida and like maybe we'd wandered into a 40's movie, with excellent people-watching and even better cocktails. Live music, not so loud you couldn't talk-- super romantic. Bring your seersucker suit and your slinky gown, if you like, or not. Zero stuffiness. Someone there had his 3 dogs with him (this may have been the owner. We were told that this hotel is owned by a family, not a corporation). We ate in the hotel and had excellent service by waiter Aziz and excellent service by wine steward Victor. Never snooty, always solicitous, ready with suggestions when we asked for them. One particular kindness was gracious, even approving, acceptance when I didn't want an entree (one gets full quickly after a certain age) but ordered a salad instead. The housekeeping was ostentatiously elegant: bathmats meticulously placed on the floor in front of each sink, towels folded with notable precision. The next morning we asked the concierge for recommendations for restaurants and he guided us to authentic cuban food nearby. When we remarked on the incredible service, he said the housekeepers, managers, and all the staff have worked there for 15+ years. Nobody wants to leave. It's a family business that takes care of its family. I wish I could remember the names of the rest of the people who were so outstandingly kind and helpful, but I lost the card on which I wrote them. But the point is that if you want to leave South Beach feeling you've had a vacation into some better past, where everything is elegant and clean and works great and tastes great and nobody has a cross word and everyone's job is to make you and everyone else feel special and valued, stay here. Make a special trip to stay here. We plan to. Read less

We were really excited about staying here. We were here for a wedding and got a room through the block of rooms reserved by the family. We got a good rate, but unfortunately, even with that it wasn't worth it. The hotel itself is great. It's got a very cool vibe, the service is excellent all the way around, and the location perfect. We only tried one restaurant, LT Steak & Seafood, which was wonderful. The lobby was full when we arrived on a beautiful Saturday morning. Clearly there were locals there enjoying drinks and live piano music. There is a fantastic display of photos of the Stones and Beatles throughout. It's a fascinating exhibition called "LOST: The Bob Bonis Archives." This exhibit showcases over 250 photos taken by Bob Bonis, who was the road manager for both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones during their first U.S. tours. So much for the hotel and service. Now to the room. As many have noted, the rooms are small, but that's okay, as there were just two of us and we spent very little time in it. The bed was comfortable. However, when we arrived, the nicely decorated room was wanting for a renovation and cleaning. The bathroom had mildew and rust. There was a water bottle cap on the bathroom floor, out in the open, which meant that it wasn't properly cleaned. The ceiling fabric was peeling. You know, that's something that can be fixed pretty easily. Management needs to pay more attention to detail. This was a poor value for the money, so we won't be staying there again when we return to South Beach, which we love. Therefore, I cannot recommend this hotel. Read less

Our stay at the Betsy was absolutely fantastic. Paul, the concierge, provided exceptional service and is a true testament to his profession. He gave us great suggestions and made we had what we needed every day for a great girls trip! Rene was our server at breakfast every morning and remembered our drink and food preferences. He anticipated all our needs including bringing us pitchers of water to wash sand off our feet on the front porch after getting rained out at the beach! The attentiveness of the entire staff was great but Paul and Rene were truly outstanding! Everyone was incredibly welcoming despite our, at times, over enthusiastic group of women. Highly recommend spending some time at this charming hotel. It has the most comfortable and welcoming spaces from the lobby to the library to the rooftop pool and lounge area. You won't regret visiting! Read less
