Nice hotel with a beautiful beach and swimming pool. Not so far away from Miami downtown. Acceptable price. Wallet service was perfect, we didn’t need to wait for car for a long time. Hotel staff was very helpful. I will be back, as soon as possible.

We got to this hotel after a really long trip and were looking forward to our stay. The hotel lobby is lovely and very welcoming and the valet was wonderful taking our car. Then we met Daniel. Daniel checked us in and we thought was being polite to us, but when we were walking away we got a sarcastic ‘have a nice stay, enjoy your holiday’ under his breath. Perhaps if we hadn’t been so exhausted having been travelling for the best part of 14 hours we may have given him a nice cockney reply but we left it and went to our room. Away from the lobby the hotel is unfortunately in need of a refurb. The decor is a bit old and the carpets stained etc. It’s a huge shame because it’s one of the few remaining original hotels on the strip. Our room had a huge bed and a sofa bed so it was more like a mini suite than a room. But there was no bedding anywhere for the sofa bed and, as much as I love my friend, I wasn’t sharing a bed with her. So we went to reception to see if we could sort out the problem. Daniel said he could organise a rollaway bed which annoyed us slightly. He then said he could give us a twin bedded room but it would be an upgrade so we’d have to pay an extra $15 per night. Thinking this would be the preferable option and desperate to get to our room and relax we took the upgrade off the smirking Daniel and went to our new room. What we got was a twin room with no coffee making facilities and no balcony, with a window that looked out over a flat roof so we couldn’t open the curtains. It certainly wasn’t an upgrade and I think that we may have been just taken advantage of because we were tourists. So as much as we wanted to love this hotel, the decor and the rudeness of some staff kind of ruined it for us. This was a birthday trip for me and the first holiday I’ve had since I’ve completed my cancer treatment so it’s a shame it was messed up for no reason at all. Read less

Very dirty hotel beach crowded with smokers, non-working elevators/Ice machines, valet lost our car key and accused us of lying about it, TVs never worked despite complaints, smokers in the hallway, etc

The hotel has a lot going on and a lot to offer. The only problem is getting up to your room. The elevators were not working properly and it was a bit of a wait to come and go. The pool area is nice and you can walk right out on the beach. The bar at the pool was nice and the staff were also in good spirits as they made and poured spirits.

We stayed at Newport for one night. At first blush we were happy - check-in service was good and beach really close. Within minutes of being in the room though my youngest son cut himself on a piece of broken glass. We let staff know to give them time to re-clean but found more glass when we returned - we were leaving early so just decided to wear our shoes inside rather than bother to insist on a room switch. Beds were okay but the vent above our bed dripped water on me all night!!! Amazingly, that wasn't the worst part. The food was inedible! Poolside restaurant served me a chicken that was completely raw inside, my husbands was so hard he had to send it back as well. I ended up being sick the entire next day. The croissants and baked things looked great so got those for our early breakfast but none of us could stomach them - and my kids eat ANYTHING. When we left I realized we’d forgotten my daughter’s favourite bathing suit behind the bathroom door (it wasn't just a suit - it had great sentimental family value). I called within the hour of leaving so we could double back and retrieve it. I told them exactly where it was, they told me to call back, which I did half a dozen times and left messages. They claim it wasn't there! How could this be???!!! We travel A LOT and this was by far one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. Read less
