The hotel

One of Miami's Art Deco masterpieces, this nautically inspired hotel, built in 1939 by Igor Polevitzky, has been described as 'a ocean liner on dry land'! It features elegant, minimalist guest rooms with custom-designed fixtures and fittings. Clientele and the local crowd gather at the mezzanine-level pool, which has portholes that allow courtyard strollers an underwater view of swimmers. The Albion features in the Miami Beach art-deco museum and was built in 1939. It has clearly been going downhill ever since. Do not be deceived by the attractive lobby - it's the only part that is. If you arrive by car be aware that the unloading space will be blocked, there is no car park and no valet parking. If you arrive after 6pm do not expect help with your luggage. There is none. Enjoy struggling up the steps into the lobby, finding and loading your trolley, pushing it into the lift (choice of two but one doesn't work) and searching for your room in a poorly lit corridor not helped by a dark and very dubious carpet. If you are hungry there is no restaurant and the dismal empty bar has no food anyway. If you want to escape and visit the beach... Tough. It's not a short walk and very few taxis pass the Albion. Why would they? If you are desperate and return to your room and try to sleep to forget your unfortunate circumstances... Double tough. You will hear a strange continuous thrumming noise all night long. You will sleep badly not helped by the fact that even in a junior suite the usual water bottle(s) is not supplied. And don't ring room service because the phone doesn't work. Perhaps you will wake up, looking forward to breakfast. Be surprised when you see it is only $9.95 ...What did you expect??? Foolish person. If, in these Covid times, you want to print out your test result as a paper backup in case your airline does not accept Verifly... Treble tough. There are no facilities and it not possible (and we did ask nicely). Conclusion: Visit, if you must, at your own risk. Read less

Comfortable hotel very nicely located 5 mins walk from the beach and Ocean Drive. They will lend you towels to go to the beach. The nightlife is a 10 mins walk away. The beds are big but too soft which makes them uncomfortable. The breakfast is quite basic and you need to wait for service.

Great rooms and location. Walking to shops and restaurants. Easy and close access to the beach. Amazing pool. The Penthouse rooms are a must. The service from the hotel staff were great. Shout out to Marcio who went out of his way to help when needed.

The people on reception were really nice , friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic, the pool area nice although my daughter found a condom floating in it and there is a soulless bar. On checkout day the lift wasn't working so we had to carry four large suitcases down from the 6th floor. The area around the hotel is slightly seedy. An option for a short stay but don't expect too much. Read less

Excellent hotel for a short break to South Beach Miami. Rooms and decore a bit dated but everything works perfectly well and rooms and bathroom are good size. They are perfectly clean and the bathroom has a large walk in shower. Comfortable nights sleep was also achieved with no noise. The hotel has a well stocked a friendly cocktail bar that is open till 2am. It hasa great outside area with a shaded garden and seating as well as a large pool and pool area with loungers. Staff are very helpfull and friendly. But the best thing is the hotels location it really is within 10 minutes walking of all the artractions and 2 min from the beach. Happy to return here. Read less
