The Shore Club

South Beach, Miami

The hotel

Redefining cool on Miami's South Beach, Shore Club combines classic minimalist design with quirky twists. Designed by famed British architect David Chipperfield, the hotel features grey terrazzo floors, white walls and white fabrics accented by flashes of colour such as cone-shaped lampshades in funky colours like emerald green, gold and purple. The ground floor, leading all the way to the beach, is one seamless adult playzone. Under every potted tree and around each column, there's a funky but cosy collection of stools, chairs, couches and tables. The lighting is low, with hundreds of candles; the music is eclectic; and the design is a mix of ethnic styles that contribute to the culture of chilling out.

Upon reaching our room, we were far less impressed. Now, granted we only booked a standard room... but we were given a prison cell of sorts. The smallest room that you could imagine, with a view of air conditioning units and a car park. We wouldn't mind so much, but our friends checked in a few hours later and were given a palace in comparison. The reception knew that we were getting married the following day, so I would have expected a bit more thought going in to room choice. We did mention this to reception the following day and to be fair to them, they did offer to move us to a bigger room in the same category, which was 1000% better than what we had. The breakfast is not worth getting... the staff are overwhelmed and service is slow. Luckily we found the best breakfast in town by accident after stumbling across the road to Orange Blossom... the place is always packed due to the great food and even better unlimited Mimosa deal ($22 for two hours). The hotel w/great and so where the employees.. at the beach the attendants Raymond/Josue/Andy were the best. They always came around to make sure I was ok and needed anything. Thanks guys for making my weekend vacation wonderful. I'll be back.

Stayed at the Shore Club for a week. Perfect location with an amazing view. Everything was fabulous from start to end. Sophia at the front desk is amazing and was so helpful. Famous, at the pool is giving extra attention to his guests all day long. Great staff. Couldn’t recommend it more !!

Miami was the start of my 2 week road trip in Florida, and I initially thought of booking somewhere near the beach at a reasonable price. But other than the beach proximity I really wanted a balcony and a great view without breaking the bank. After a lot of research I found the Shore Club and booked directly for an Oceanview Junior Suite. I was on one of the highest floors, and had an amazing city and ocean Views. The balcony was huge! We had 2 bathrooms, a living room and a bedroom. We had an espresso machine and small free water bottles, and all the amenities you could possibly need. The hotel is stunning. The beach is right next door and we were a couple of minutes from our car rental and Duck tours. The pool was perfect. We used uber to get everywhere at reasonable prices. On our first day I had breakfast at the Hotel and found service to be extremely poor. I ordered coffee and toasts for me and a full breakfast for my daughter. I went to the buffet and grabbed everything for her and waited for the toasts. Nothing came but my coffee. When I asked to pay the toasts were there, and the waiter had the audacity to claim he saw me picking them from the buffet. He sure did, but they were for my daughter, and I certainly did not eat them. No one explained to me I also had to get my toast from the buffet... I left a tip they did not deserve and never came back. Next day I had a full breakfast at the Catalina Hotel for 2 next door for the exact same price as my daughters breakfast and had impeccable service. I would say the incident at breakfast was the only downside of my stay. After you get over the insane and unjustifiable resort fees and taxes that most hotels seem to charge this is a great option for a balcony with amazing views. The total for my 2 nights stay inclusive of all taxes and resort fees were 554 USD. Read less

I had a wonderful experience on the beach at the Shore Club. I was met by Josue, who was very helpful and showed great customer service. He informed me of all the services they offered and was kind enough to a bring me a menu for food services. I will definitely be returning to the shore club. Thanks!
