Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort Miami

Sunny Isles, Miami

The hotel

This hotel has a famous past, with celebrated entertainers such as Sammy Davis Jnr, Jimi Hendrix and Tina Turner often performing here. Things are still very lively now, but focusing much more on family-friendly pursuits than rock ‘n roll. With a fantastic oceanfront setting and many rooms having sweeping views of the sea, this is a very appealing option for those looking to be close to the centre of Miami but offering better value for money. There are lots of activities on offer to keep everyone busy all day, make sure you ask for the Escape to Fun activity programme when you check-in so you don’t miss a thing. Our stay was great. Everyone was very accommodating and helpful! Thank you Donnovin for your assistance at the beach! He made sure we we had everything we needed. We will be back again! Hopefully all elevators will be working by then. But they did allow us to use service elevator.

We were really disappointed with our room. It was not what was pictured when we choose the room. Highly disappointing on several levels. The room was old and worn. It had a lot of potential but due to what amounted to deferred maintenance we were totally underwhelmed. The couch was disgusting and we didn’t even use the sitting area except to set our luggage up on the table. The windows that looked out onto the ocean past the parking lot were filthy and the outside balcony had chipped paint and plastic chairs were uninviting. I am not in the habit of giving bad ratings on the properties we choose because we choose them carefully, however this property was sorely disappointing because the pictures were misrepresented and not even close to what we received in our accommodations. Not all was bad. The proximity to the beach and pier were spot on and the pool was decent. It seemed to lack the attention to detail that we enjoy in resorts yet it suited our needs. The proximity to a small retail area and the bus line within walking distance was nice and the mall is not terribly far from the hotel as well. The wait for the use of the elevator was long everyday during the hours when most folks were up and moving so we opted for the stairs the majority of the time. Our room was on the 4th floor so we benefited from the exercise as we made the easy trek up and down to our room. I don’t know if other floors had nicer rooms but ours was not as pictured so when requesting reservations, stay away from room 404. Not as pictured! Read less

I am very sad to say I’ve had one of the worst experiences of my life. Not only was the hotel rundown and antiquated but they had no amenities. You can’t even get a drink until after 5 o’clock. We wasted at least three hours of a vacation just trying to get into our room the key system is said to be sensitive; but I would say it’s not acceptable and needs to be replaced. There is no room service so you can’t even get a glass of water at 10 o’clock if you want one. Your solution to that was to walk across the street at midnight and go to a gas station to get water!! The entire state was unacceptable. I will give high praise to Daniel, Who works at the front desk is a delight! Also Jeremy who works at the tower heart very friendly and pleasant something we don’t see here often. My advice is a Boyd Newport Beachside Hotel!! Read less

We had problems each and every time getting into our room. The key cards were very sensitive and did not work for us. We had to keep going to the lobby to get new cards made or staff had to meet us at the door to let us in. Hotel is outdated and in need of upgrades. Read less

super cool guy...find Jeremy by the pool and give him a biggest hug EVER ...yyeahhh buddy Hotel is alright ...we had some struggles at the beginning but the hotel is in "remodel" stage but its not going fast enough. I have to give cudos to the staff as they all are very positive and optimistic and are working with what they have ...it is obvious that the owners have for the most part abandoned the place and will at some point sell it to be demolished ...but again that staff is great. Floors 6 and up appear to be remodeled ...anything Bellow is in a pretty rough shape. Hotel is close to everything. Some very nice shops accross the street where we went and had some coffee and international sweets. Otherwise hotel has Starbucks and everything else. Food is priced within the reason for the area .. If you are expecting a Taj Mahal this is not a place for you...but again if you are in Miami and want to spend all your days in your hotel room than don't go to Miami or any vacation for that matter and stay home...go out and enjoy the beach ...town...and local tourist traps ..we had a blast Read less
