Dated and not super clean. Silverfish in my sink one morning, and an overwhelming smell of mold from the ancient carpet and headliner on the bed. Stayed at another Marriott last year in Orlando and was night and day different. Parking fees are ridiculous, and there is even a charge for wifi. Lack of restaurants was also surprising. Temps in the hotel, conference, and rooms were freezing and damp (probably led to the mold). As the hotel is an enormous atrium, I was woken up on several occasions by the noise from the bar in the center. Staff were all friendly, but sometimes difficult to understand. Wait-staff in restaurants were helpful, but not as attentive as would be expected at this price range. I would not have even written a review if the price was better aligned to the hotel. If this was 1/3 the cost, I would have expected this quality. However, at $300/night, this place is NOT worth it. Read less

The property overall was pretty and clean. The extra costs of amenities that you typically find free anywhere else were ridiculous. If you want the internet, you are charged $15 for basic or $19 for high-speed per day. Parking isn't free it's $36 a day. It is a pain trying to get in and out of the parking lot with the key cards. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The beds are hard and very uncomfortable. The description says they are pillowtop, but they are not. There are no extra blankets in the room, and the duvet is very thin. May as well be covered up with a couple of sheets. Usually, hotel rooms have info on the property. Instead, you have to download it with the QR code, and it still isn't very helpful. The fitness center was pretty impressive. It is very clean and has pretty much everything you are looking for in gym equipment. We definitely won't be staying here on our next visit. Read less

My wife, a government employee, had business in Orlando this past weekend. She asked me to find a good government rate at a hotel near some activities for myself and our kids to do while she was busy. After doing quite a bit of research, I settled on the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld. I was a bit trepidatious, as the reviews on Trip Advisor were pretty mixed. I was particularly disturbed by a review claiming that the hotel had charged them a $500 parking fee when they didn't even have a car. Nevertheless, I began the booking process, and noticed on the Marriot.com website that there was potentially a special inventive for government employees—complimentary self-parking. However, there were three options: "Govt/military Rate," "Government State Rate," and "Government Local Rate." Each rate had some fine print below it, but it was cut off in all three instances. However, for "Government Local Rate," it said, "Limited Time Offer – Includes Complimentary Self-Parking, federal . . .," as can be seen in the image attached to this post described as, "Ambiguity in the website." Each rate had an option to expand the rate details. When expanding the "Govt/military Rate," and "Government State Rate," nothing about complimentary parking is mentioned. However, expanding the "Government Local Rate" revealed a page with the following language: "US Government (GOV) Per Diem rate: Includes self-parking for one vehicle per room," as can be seen in the image attached to this post described as, "Indication that government rate includes complimentary parking." So, it was not clear to me which government rate included complimentary parking, if any. In light of the horror story about the $500 parking, I called the hotel, as can be seen in this image attached to this post described as, "Calling the hotel phone record." I talked to a gentleman named Alex and explained my question. He confirmed that the complimentary parking applied to all three government rates—federal, state, and local. Relying on this representation, I then booked our room using Marriot.com. As can be seen in the previous image, I made the call at 10:37am and it lasted four minutes. I received a confirmation email from "Renaissance Hotel Reservations" at 10:46, five minutes after that phone call ended. Unfortunately, I can only seem to upload five images (I'm not sure why) but I also have an image of when I received the confirmation email. As can be seen in the image attached to this post described as "Govt/military rate confirmation," I clearly used the "Govt/military Rate." When we arrived at the hotel later that day, our check-in person was a man named Htet. I remembered it because the name was unusual. He asked if we wanted to upgrade our room, and I jokingly said, "Only if it's free!" He laughed and said it was not and began checking us in. I then asked him if there was a parrot in the atrium based on a review I had read. He said there was not, but there might have been for a special event in the past. My wife then showed him her government employee identification, at which point I asked, "We have free parking, right?" He said, "Yes," and finished the check-in process. The next morning, I woke up to an email containing our folio. I opened it, and was disappointed, but not altogether surprised based on the reviews I had read, to discover that we had been billed for parking, as can be see in the image attached to this post described as "Folio." I figured it was just an error and went to the front desk to sort it out. The woman I was talking to almost immediately deferred to a man standing nearby once I explained the problem. Unfortunately, I did not catch his name. I don't remember if he was wearing a name badge, but he was wearing a grey shirt. He asked why I thought parking would be free. I replied it was because we booked the government rate. He responded that parking would only be free if we used the government rate, which, as I had just said to him, I did. He asked how I booked it and I responded through the Marriot website, that I called the hotel to confirm that parking was free, and that the person who checked us in told me it was free. He asked to look at my confirmation email, which I showed him, and then told me that parking is not free. I said, "Then why would two people who work for the hotel represent to me that it was?" And he replied, "No one who works here would tell you that." In other words, he was implying that I was a liar. I have never been called a liar in my life. I am sad to admit that at that point I quite lost my temper and gave up on the whole thing. But I was truly baffled. Why would I make up such a thing? Why would I fabricate all of these records just to save on parking? It was also particular frustrating because, between the two parties, who could more easily swallow the parking fee? Me, or a multi-billion dollar company? And all of this was verifiable. Indeed, all they had to do was ask Htet if he had told me parking was free, and—assuming he was honest, which, to be frank, my not be the case in light of what I experienced—he would have said yes. I mean, how many people ask about parrots? I'm pretty sure he would have remembered me. But there was no such offer. I was just called a liar. Or, Marriot could look at its phone center records, find the call I made at 10:37am, and listened to the recording to confirm that I was told by Alex that all government rates included complimentary parking. But there was no such offer. I was just called a liar. So, to recap: 1. Marriot's website was ambiguous on which government rate included complimentary parking. 2. I called Marriot to confirm that parking was complimentary for any government rate. 3. I booked the room at the government rate. 4. During check-in, I was told again that parking was complimentary. I did my due diligence here. I can only imagine that one of two things happened. Option one, Marriot's website, Alex on the phone, and Htet at check-in were all incorrect. If that's true, then I relied on them to my detriment, but the reliance was reasonable, and instead of being called a liar, the hotel should have done the right thing and zeroed out the charge because I was misled by their own employees. Option two, whoever generated the folio knew it was a government rate but figured they would try to bill me for parking anyway. I wouldn't be inclined to believe that because surely the folios are autogenerated. But, no where on the folio did it say I had received a government rate, even though, as the images included herein show, that is exactly how I booked it. Indeed, the rate shown in the folio, $170, appears to be the standard rate for a room anyway less the resort fee. The only tangible difference was the complimentary parking. Did someone just generate a regular rate folio for us to see what would happen? It is completely bizarre to me that the hotel would be so petty as to hold onto a parking fee and call a customer a liar than to just admit they were wrong, whether that was purposefully wrong or inadvertently wrong. It is just a further example of corporate greed at its finest I guess. What do they care if I never come back as long as they squeezed every penny out of me? If the hotel wants to contact me, I imagine it can do so through this post. But nothing, at this point, would ever compel me to go back to this hotel, any Renaissance branded hotel, or any Marriott-owned hotel ever again. Stay away. Read less

There was one security officer named Jordan who went above and beyond telling us what was around the area to visit and stuff to do in Orlando and showed us where everything was located at the hotel. He was a great person, funny, and outgoing. They need more employees like him, and thanks to him, my family got more out of Orlando than we expected. The restaurant staff was amazing and was on point on everything. I had a great experience. Read less
