Clarion Suites Maingate

Hi Stayed here from December 27th till 9th January 2020 our room was extremely stuffy as there is no windows you can open so we had to leave door open to get rid of smell in room.As we came from Ireland we had to pay for breakfast which we ate twice it was very poor and breakfast room was way to small extremely disappointed with breakfast all plastic plates, knives and forks. Staff in general were pleasant and friendly.My daughter was with us and got a parcel delivered to hotel and hotel charged her 14 dollars to accept parcel which I taught was a bit steep. My son and daughter in law were also with us and had a bag stolen from their room when they asked for manager they were told he was on a day off however he did eventually ring them but to no satisfaction. The day we were leaving we asked for a safe storage area for our bags after the incident with our son we were nervous leaving bags unattended to which we were told there was no secure room only breakfast area which was open the receptionist said they were not permitted to hold bags behind reception. It's the only hotel I've been in that doesn't have safe secure area to hold bags. Will not be returning Read less

Yikes. I thought Clarion was a decent brand. We pulled in to the parking lot, and immediately the dated and worn paint was a downer. I went in to check in, and the woman behind the counter was talking to two people behind us. No eye contact with us, to tell us wait. Ok. That's fine. She's busy. When she's done with them, still no eye contact, just waving us up. A sign tells us we are being video recorded and audio recorded. Yikes again. Why the need for audio recording? She's not friendly, but she checks us in. Fine. Park around the side in a rather dark parking lot, and head toward the elevator. The elevator is defaced with graffiti. Yikes yet again. Rooms open to the outdoors, which makes them louder. Ok. We're tired enough; it won't matter. We get in the room, and my son goes to the closet to get the sheets to make up the sofa bed. They are in a wad in the closet. Maybe they have trouble folding fitted sheets, says my husband. My son shakes out the sheet, and a HUGE, YELLOW STAIN is immediately viewable, covering half the sheet. We all decide to decide that it's a sweat stain, because the other option is too gross. At the same time, though, one daughter goes in to take a shower. The shower is full of someone else's hair. Oh, and the toilet is clogged. Down treks my husband to get another room. We truck to the new room. Sheets on the beds have several stains. They shower has someone else's hair in it. But at least the toilet flushes! I have never walked out of a hotel in the decades of travel I have experienced. Until that night. 11:30pm, tired as all get-out, and desperately trying to find another hotel room during the busiest time of the year. It was a nightmare. When my husband went back to the front desk, she said a manager would have to approve not charging us for these monstrosities. No apology. No embarassment. The ensuing few hours of trying to find a hotel is a story for another day. Bottom line: don't stay here unless it is absolutely all you can afford. And even then, perhaps bring your own sheets and cleaning supplies. Read less

For the price paid I cannot complain. Room was a lot better maintained then done previous Orlando properties we stayed at and it had everything you would need. The breakfast was plentiful and included different breads and cereals, cooked food and make your own waffles. It was a little hectic as there were a lot of kids there from school football teams which were a little loud but all in all a good stay. Plenty of food options are within walkjnv distance and there was the free shuttle service to the parks or an uber was under $15 to Disney and around $25 to universal.
