The 8 foot painting of John Lennon behind the reception desk might lead you to believe this is the sort of place that values peace and love...and maybe their reputation however the opposite is true. They just want your money and to process you as quickly as possible with the minimum of effort. This place really doesn't live up to the hype and is starting to look as shabby as the treatment they dish out to guests.Hopefully you will just be using the place as a quick stopover for universal studios next door and not have to deal with the concierge. Oh and going back to your John Lennon artwork...I'm pretty sure you've messed up the iconic "New York City" T shirt he famously wore....replacing the slogan with "Imagine".. is this an intentional irony or does the fact we keep handing over money lead you to the conclude that your guests are so dumb they might get confused and they'd come to the wrong city? Imagine going the extra mile for your guests....it's easy if you try. Read less

We love the Hard Rock. Proximity to parks makes the entire trip more enjoyable and less stress! Concierge floor is fully stocked and staff are very accommodating. Expensive yes but it was a special occasion.

A family of 5 stayed in jan, the hotel facilities are 5* but the dust in bathroom was shocking! The fridge was not installed making it look shabby and the glass had a chip in it. Very disappointed with hotels response to complaint and did not feel like I got good value or more importantly listened too

If you select this hotel it’s mainly because of location. It’s a very short walk to Universal. I’ve stayed at the Royal Pacific before and its a lot better but this one is closer to the parks. The Kitchen is good for breakfast buffet and music is perfect for someone stuck in the 90s in terms of musical taste like me. Underwater music at the pool is nice. Overall good since the universal attractions and the ambiance at Hogsmeade and Diagon alley are amazing. Now the disappointing stuff. The annoying surprise was the upside down cockroach in the room first thing in the morning and me scrambling around to get everything off the floor and checking every bag for “visitors”. I assume it’s expected in Florida (Haven't seen this in any other place yet) but it’s still bothersome and definitely not expected for the price paid. Some things look dated, the dark shower, the many coats of paint on the bathroom walls or the rusty towel holder/mirror. Also, take a ride share on the way in if you can. The shuttle took 1 hour to get to the hotel and we were the third stop. Read less

This hotel was recommended to us by our Travel Agent. We had heard great things about this hotel chain by numerous friends and were so excited about staying there. We arrived on 29th Dec and were staying for 7 nights so yes, it cost a small fortune but we believed our experience would justify the cost. How wrong we were. First impression when we joined the queue in the lobby was wow! Meatloaf was blasting out, the lobby was huge and looked really nice. The member of staff that booked us in was very pleasant. She asked if we were there for a special occasion and gave us a voucher for a free drink when I said it was my birthday. All is well up to this point. She then directed us to another desk across the lobby where we could buy our park tickets. The member of staff there was not at all helpful, I felt like I was interrupting his day. We the got to our room. This is when my heart sank. The bedding was cheap, the furniture tatty, the bathroom tiny and the view, well there was no view only that of the front of the hotel canopy. One of the beds was broken and had not been vacuumed under for a very long time. I contacted my Tavel Agent who contacted their agent who contacted the hotel. They were unable to move us as the hotel was full. They did give us a voucher for one breakfast and compensation ($60 value). Drinks taken to the room were not cleared by housekeeping. We don’t drink coffee so left a note asking if we could have tea left rather than coffee and when we returned to the room had a note left in response that simply stated “call star services”. Glasses accumulated through the week. There were days when the cushions were left on the floor after the room was serviced. There were days when we had to ring for tea, cups and toiletries to be brought to the room because they hadn’t been replenished. Really not any service at all. The hotel didn’t have a Hard Rock Cafe on site. The Kitchen offered decent food, over priced and it’s way overdue an overhaul. A good clean would be a start! It had ripped seats and years of grime on the old fashioned dark wood. We ate there one night, the place was empty and we were sat at the end of room next to where the cutlery was kept and their carpet sweeper - yes, that was out on full display! We ate breakfast there. Good point was the egg chef and the pancake chef who produced really good food. I was served my tea in a black mug with someone else’s bright pink lipstick on it. When I pointed this out, a waitress took it away and brought a clean cup to me 5 minutes later. New Years Eve - I had expected a rock party with live rock bands, the reality was a kids disco with a magician = not very Hard Rock, in fact in the week we were there, there wasn’t really much rock music played at all! The pool area was lovely, the staff at the pool bar/cafe were amazing. The water taxis convenient and fun. Hotel location was fantastic and the fact your room key was your fast pass was a really good perk. At $400 a night though, I felt completely and utterly ripped off. My expectations were high based on reviews and recommendations but they weren’t met at all in terms of our room or the dining in The Kitchen. Read less
