The room condition was just starting to show some wear, but overall nicely appointed.m and the bathroom was enormous for a hotel. The staff were highly professional and courteous. We appreciated the club lounge staff and excellent food with a delicious and healthy array of offerings. Easy access to the water taxi made getting to the parks easy and fun and the shuttle to Volcano Bay ran frequently making that a very brief wait to go either direction. Inside the parks we appreciated the Unlimited Express Passes even though we probably didn’t need them in mid-January as lines were pretty short. But being able to walk on each ride was great! We enjoyed the beautiful views from our room and did check out one of the pool areas one evening. Again, staff were attentive and abundant and the pool area was nicely maintained with very comfortable chaises. The only con was the lack of hot water. It was necessary to run water for several minutes to shower and you could lose hot water part way through your shower. We would definitely recommend a club level stay at Loews Portofino Bay! We stayed here three nights as a base for our visits for Universal and Animal Kingdom. If you add up the free perks (free fast passes for the park) it’s reasonably priced and a decent hotel for the money. It has some wear and tear from the family traffic. The Portofino was very clean, well laid out, great food choices, swimming pools spas etc. Very quiet spacious rooms and the Water Taxi was always there ready to take you to the park I would stay there again for sure!

We had a pleasant stay at the Portofino. We were there for three nights and had a Club 2 Queen room. When I made my online reservation I had requested a high floor room but what I actually got was a courtyard room, which I'm glad I did. It had a patio with chairs overlooking a lovely courtyard. It was a very peaceful setting and we enjoyed sitting out there in the evenings sipping wine. The room itself was very spacious with plenty of outlets to charge our devices and the bedding was comfortable and clean, as was the rest of the room. The bathroom had plenty of space to move around in however the shower itself was extremely small. It was awkwardly place in the corner of the bathroom and wasn't even big enough for me to wash my hair in. My elbows would hit the walls when every I raised them to scrub my head. It was claustrophobic. It also lacked adequate shelving for all my toiletries. The bathroom itself did have plenty of room to make that shower larger. Whoever designed it did a poor job. The decor of the room was starting to look a little tired. There were scuff marks and dents on the walls and furniture. It appeared as if some renovations were being done on other parts of the resort. Hopefully the area our rooms were in will be next. The fact that the hotel was situated so close to Universal Studios was a huge plus. The water taxi made getting there a breeze. We visited in early November so the resort almost felt deserted which meant that the parks were less crowded as well. Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Read less

Hotel was lovely. Great pool, club level was totally worth the cost, pools were awesome, and staff was friendly and helpful. The water taxis were great and easy access. My kids (9 and 12) loved it all! Room was nice - great bathroom. Although our room in the Villa wing kind of had that “cheap hotel” smell (old carpeting perhaps?). The Universal… Read more

My kids (9 and 12) loved it all! Room was nice - great bathroom. Although our room in the Villa wing kind of had that “cheap hotel” smell (old carpeting perhaps?). The Universal Shuttle sucks though. They didn’t have a record of the correct reservation time in the system for us and didn’t show up. (And weren’t in any hurry to remedy the situation - acted like they didn’t believe us even tho I had a text confirming the shuttle time.). Shuttle showed up 40 minutes late making us really pinched at airport. Would definitely return to US and the Portofino but will NOT use Universal’s shuttle to/from airport again. Read less
