My family and I arrived on Sunday December 30th, the plan was to spend two days at Disney (New Years eve at the Kingdom) and the rest of the trip at the resort and the Universal Parks (we purchased a two--day Universal pass and received two bonus days). The property was absolutely stunning and beautiful, the lobby was decorated for Christmas, with a tree and it was very spacious with lots of room and seating. Check in was easy, our flight was early, so we arrived several hours before check in. The staff checked our luggage and gave us passes to use around the property until check in time. We walked to CityWalk to have lunch and received a text message when our rooms were ready (which they provided to us early, which was very much appreciated). They have a great customer service team that is very responsive to text messages, which I loved. One day my kids slept in late and put the do not disturb sign up, so our rooms did not get serviced. I realized at 5pm so I requested by text and they sent up a crew within an hour, even though it was outside of regular room service hours. We were in guest house 2, on the fourth floor (which is awesome and on the same level as the lobby) with a pool view. Beds were extremely comfortable, amazing pillows, four per bed, different sizes and a mix of soft, medium etc. great bedding, very clean rooms. Laundry facility is on the first floor, and very clean (you can buy detergent and softener at a vending machine, $1.00 for detergent and $1.00 for 2 softener sheets). Pool, hot tub, and property were amazing and extremely clean. Lots of towels, very attentive life guard team, great staff and service poolside and at the pool bar, this place far exceeded my expectations. We walked or used the taxi boats to get to CityWalk and the Universal parks, such a fun and incredible experience. The boats travel back and forth frequently (don’t think we ever waited more than five minutes). The water taxis are great when you have some young adults with you, they can safely travel to CityWalk and spend an evening there without any worry about how they will get back, also there is a great night life there, lots of restaurants, stores, clubs, etc. We were so busy with the parks and our own resort that we didn’t visit the others around us. Before our trip I read reviews about the “Barnyard” bathroom door, I didn’t get it until we checked in. Indeed, the bathroom door is “Barnyard” style, pulls sideways to open and close and does not exactly close completely. There is a bit of a gap, so you don’t get a sense of complete privacy. I was travelling with my family in connecting rooms, my crew was 18, and 23 so we all made sure to avoid walking past the bathroom when occupied out of respect. I think this is something easy for the hotel to remedy, maybe a flap at the end of the door, to create a seal? Not a big deal, but I didn’t like it for sure. Other than that, the bathroom was extremely clean, modern, awesome shower head. One room had a stand-up shower with a bench, the other had a tub. I also read reviews that complain that the bathroom area is dark, and dim. I thought this initially as well, then I noticed our mirrors were “smart” – there was a small lit button on the main mirror, and when tapped it the mirror lit up (every tap it gets brighter), also the side mirror had a light switch. I wouldn’t have noticed, I mentioned it was dark and my daughter demonstrated (I certainly felt my age at that moment). Maybe a small sign would help visitors like me that didn’t notice? lol I have read some reviews that mention that coffee is not included in the stay, however the rooms have a Keurig with coffee, tea, cream, sugar, cups, etc. My only complaint is that the pool area and hot tub close at 10pm. The parks close between 8-9pm, so when you get back after a long day of walking you REALLY want to spend time in the hot tub or pool, and they close when you get back. We didn’t have much time to enjoy the resort because of this. The pool area should be open until at least 11pm, but ideally 12 or 1am. Some Pro Tips: • Once we checked in, we took an Uber to the Walmart on Turkey Lake Road, about 10 minutes away, cost between $7-$8, and it is open 24 hours, even on holidays. Our room had a small fridge, so we purchased small items such as orange juice boxes, canned pop, bottled water, snacks, deli meat, mustard, small buns, chips, cereal, oatmeal in cups (hot water available through Keurig in room) etc. We were also able to get items that anyone forgot to pack such as sun block, cream, toothpaste, clothing, etc. at a reasonable price. • While at Walmart, if you grabbing food and snacks, also get paper plates, paper towels, plastic cups, etc. We purchased four forks, and spoons from the cutlery area for less than $5.00 instead of buying a large pack of plastic ones, it was much cheaper. We also purchased wine and beer. We saved a lot of money on food and drinks. Preparing breakfast on your own, and having some sandwiches for lunch was is a big money saver, since most breakfast and lunch options were $15 to $20 per person, and usually way too much food. We saved our money for dinner, eating at the restaurants onsite, which were amazing, and at the parks. • Both Disney and Universal allow you to walk in with snacks and food (this is not the case with some of the parks we visit in Canada). I hate carrying around too many things when I visit a park, but if someone is willing to make the sacrifice of carrying a stuffed back pack, this can help save money during they day. • If you are from Canada and like Orange Pekoe Tea (Tetley) you will need to pack some with you, as you will not be able to find this anywhere!!! Not even at Epcot! • If you like Fiji water, get some at Walmart! Much cheaper than in your room. • Initially when I booked this property, I thought it included Universal Express passes, which it does not. Since we travelled during a peak time, the pass cost us $168 US per person, so I spent a few thousand dollars more than I expected, but the lines at the parks were 2-3 hours, so they were a must. Disney did not have these passes, you need to use an application to get express passes on rides, up to three rides per day, but this service was booked up when we arrived (didn’t realize you could book through the app up to 30 days in advance). I am not sure what the cost is to stay at the other Universal resorts that include the pass compares to Sapphire, but I recommend you consider this before booking if you want to experience the rides at the park. As much as I love the property, I am not sure I would stay here again before doing a price comparison, as the other properties include the water taxi benefit, and the early access to the Harry Potter park as well. If you have a large family, make sure you look into this. Without the pass you will experience 2-3 hour wait lines, the pass is 15-30-minute wait at most, and sometimes instant access. • Take advantage of the early access to Harry Potter, the park is incredible with so much detail to see, but it gets really crowded during regular hours. This is your best opportunity to experience it. • If you are visiting Disney for New Years, make sure to have a good exit plan. We had an amazing time, but left before 1am, we heard there were about 80,000 people there (not certain about this). It took three hours to walk out of the park to the mono-rail, it was a slow painful walk, and there was no escape. Once we arrived at the pick-up area, it was really difficult to catch an Uber, we paid over $100 US to take an Uber back, but it was after 4am, and we would have paid anything to get out of there. It was also very difficult to get an Uber in the pick-up area, as the crowd control is really bad. • Last tip, a few nights we got back late from the park and the best dinner option was ordering from Uber Eats, they deliver to the lobby, so if you need to save money McDonalds is an option, and there are tons of options, we even ordered Red Lobster one night, since we were so tired from the parks. It was awesome! Much cheaper than room service. Read less

Clean, beautiful, and nice with a very convenient water taxi to Universal Orlando resort. My only complaint is that the pool rules were too strict. Dad couldn't toss his 8-yr-old around in the deep end, and she wasn't allowed to wear her cloth mermaid swimming tail. My other 2 daughters also got scolded for swimming after some ducks-- by the end they were all afraid of the lifeguards Read less

Great location, fabulous beds, quiet rooms you could not ask for more. Loved the pool and the other amenities of the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Fees for parking cars are high so I would recommend Using Uber. Note Hotel does not have microwaves.
