If you have a car then absolutely book. If you don’t have a car then weigh your pros and cons.... 1. We had a beautiful one bedroom suite that slept 5 of us perfectly. 2. Nice large balcony with great view 3. Great little store where we bought bagels to cook in the room for breakfast and wine for us. You can also buy bottled water and Diet Coke in cans (much cheaper than park but more than at home) Look for their fresh banana bread - worth the price! 4. Pools are heated so kids loved the pool in January. 5. Second floor stairs wasn’t bad at all. Maybe if we had a baby and stroller but was not a big deal. Kind of like going upstairs to bed at home. 6. Olivia’s is fantastic so a plus of having a great restaurant that is busy but not ridiculous to get into. 7. Room was refurbished and looked great. What’s the issue? The walk. Forget walking to the lobby if you are in a way out building (and yes we requested a building closer) and we even switched before we arrived to one the front desk swore was closer to a bus stop but was literally the last building at the end of a street. If we would of had a car and wanted something from the store we could have least driven someone up there to run in... We took Lyft to Disney springs (we first looked at this hotel to be near Disney springs) because our feet were dying. Plus you always have to ride the whole property so it could take another 40 min once you get to the property. The second issue is like someone else said - the buses on this route aren’t great. Today at one of the parks we watched three buses pick up for Saratoga, and everyone else twice before ours arrived. If we had a dinner reservation we would have had to use Lyft. Maybe the other hotels always have long walks to the bus stop and lobby, but this was painful after being at the parks all day. Read less

Our party of three adults stayed in a one-bedroom villa for three nights at the end of December. We are DVC members and used points to book our stay. The official check-in time for the resort is 4 pm; we had checked in online a few days earlier, and received a text mid-afternoon that our villa was ready ahead of schedule. We had already received our Magic Bands in the mail, and so were able to go directly to our villa without stopping at the reception area. You may already know that the Old Key West resort was Disney's first foray into the timeshare market. The villas at this property are the largest of all the WDW resorts. Our nicely appointed one-bedroom accommodation had a good-size kitchen provisioned with all the glasses, dishes, utensils, we would need. The stainless steel refrigerator and stove were full-size. The bedroom was spacious with a king-size bed, and offered access to the villa's patio which overlooked a water feature and golf course. The family room boasted a pull-out chair (twin size bed) plus a fold-out couch (which would sleep two) and patio access. The unit had a large single bathroom which had a shower and sink in one area and a tub and another sink in the other half. One nice feature about the large tub was that it had an integrated seat that could be used by a parent assisting a child in the tub. A washer and dryer were easily accessible. Wifi was easy and convenient, and had plenty of plugs for charging. The villa came with a large television in the family room and another tv in the bedroom. The resort has two pools: one feature pool, and one 'quiet' pool. Both pools have hot tubs nearby. Water aerobics were held at the 'quiet' pool one morning each week; the feature pool had music and family-friendly activities every afternoon. We never had a problem finding chairs at either pool. Although the only Disney transportation option is a bus for getting to and from theme parks from OKW, guests can get to Disney Springs by bus OR by ferry. This is a terrific feature! The ferry departs from the front of the resort, which can be reached by walking or by shuttle bus. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for ferry service, and the ride was smooth, relaxing, and felt 'special'. The ferry has convenient hours of operation, so we did not have to rush at Disney Springs to get back to the resort. The landscaping at Old Key West is beautiful. The resort, which is built around a golf course, is more spread out than some of Disney's newer resorts, so it never felt overcrowded. There is an approximately 2 mile long walking path that we enjoyed every day. The buildings are nicely spread out to give the entire resort a relaxed feel without any amenity being too far away. Additionally, because this resort is sometimes overlooked as being 'less exciting', we were able to book our vacation just six weeks before traveling. I was able to piece together a few reservations in the same type of villa, then a DVC specialist helped me convert that into a single reservation so we did not have to change locations during our stay. I would definitely recommend this resort to couples, families, golfers, or anyone looking for a more relaxed feeling accommodation. It is convenient, well-maintained, quiet, and inviting. Read less

I have heard that Old Key west of the largest when it comes to room sizes, and it’s classic. I was turned off by the YouTube videos to be honest. The place, on camera, looked out dated, and in my mind it really just looked unappealing. Mentally I thought of a dusty grandmothers house (not that I would have a realistic example of that since all my grandparent passed when I was very little). Anyways, we booked a cash trip to port Orleans French quarter, and I saw that we had some use or lose points coming up, and waitlisted for Saratoga Springs and OKW. I didn’t have a preference, I just hoped one would come through, and OKW did! We loved everything about it! The size, the smells, the balcony, and mostly the cast!!! If I would have known how amazing OKW was, we wouldn’t have bothered with pofq (left a review, not so magical there). This is a must do, and we will be back with our entire family in the future. (They’ve grown so now we have extended family who will be coming too). I can’t wait to share the magic! Read less

The staff was very friendly at check in and there are great facilities here for kids / families. There is also a little shop on site if you need some groceries etc. The magical express comes every 10 minutes or so and the resort is only a few minutes away from the parks. The resort is big , so to get around , there is shuttle service. We would stay here again and would recommend especially if travelling with kids. Read less
