I’ve stayed at this resort a total of 4 times with my Mum, and to be honest, we just can’t see past it. It is a beautiful place, wonderfully themed, based on the Princess and the Frog film (worth watching before you go to get you in the mood!). We stayed twice in the white Mansions, which are lovely, and twice in Alligator Bayou, which was our favourite. In my opinion, staying in a Disney Resort allows you to get the 100% authentic Disney experience, as all the staff (aka cast members) provide the same Superlative level of Disney service and charm back at your resort. It really makes you feel like you never left the Magic Kingdom, which is definitely something we enjoyed. You can also get your Disney purchases delivered to your room, which is like getting a present every time you go back to your room - from Fulton’s General Store! Brilliant fun and very convenient. As we have various food issues to contend with ( allergies, vegetarians...) we tend to buy supplies from Wal-Mart then make up packed lunches to take to the parks. This does save money but really we just do this as it is easier than queuing for food in the Parks. We’ve eaten at a few of the restaurants at the resort and they have been great. One neat touch for several of the rooms is that the washbasins are outside of the actual bathroom, meaning Mum can skip around in the shower for hours (what is she doing in there?) while I do my hair and teeth in the sink! Overall, one of the nicest resorts I’ve ever stayed in - we just live Port Orleans Riverside. As it says on the entrance - Welcome Home! Read less

It’s amazing and totally family friendly. I love our morning walks along the river to get the park bus or evening walks to the dock to get the boat to Disney Springs. There are so many facilities here and the staff are so kind, welcoming and helpful. Just awesome. Read less

We have just returned from a wonderful 16 nights at this hotel. We stayed in lodge 14, the closest to the dining room. Even though the hotel is large, it is so peaceful and quiet. You hardly see anybody wondering around. The cast members treat you like friends and always seem pleased to see you. I would personally like to thank Bobby at the quick service restaurant, as he went out of his way to find us the beverage we were after to go with our meal, if was very much appreciated by us. We had no problem with the buses, they would always turn up at a regular interval and never full. On a morning off from the parks we decided to give the fishing hole a try. Myself and my daughter just fatted the fish up, but my husband caught a sun fish ( I think, that's what it is called). Definitely worth trying. Now, the reason I can not give 5* Housekeeping- we were given the opportunity to opt out of housekeeping when we checked in, but since I was on holiday I didn't want to even think about cleaning and it's part of the holiday, having someone come in a clean for you. To be honest, I wished I had opted out and received $150 gift card. Because all they do is make the bed, change the towels and empty the bin. I don't think the floor was ever swept, the bathroom certainly wasn't cleaned, nothing was dusted and I always had to go to the restaurant for more cups. By the end of the 16 nights, things were rather grubby. Has this put me off staying here again? No!! We will back in a couple of years, this time armed with cleaning products. Riverside is one of the most beautiful, tranquil resorts Disney have. We spent a fair amount of time resort hopping this trip and we definitely made the right decision to stay here. Read less

All the staff we met were helpful and friendly. Alligator Bayou room was large for me and my son- and loved that we were able to check in despite arriving at 7.30 am ready for a full day! Very clean and comfy and good in-room amenities. Nearish to the lobby (lodge 16)- shame it was the last bus stop after several long days...! Quick service restaurant meals were tasty and the dining room was clean. Loads of staff running kids activities at the pool on the day we used it- given the size do they really need 3 livesavers on duty though?!. Appreciate that the concierge rearranged our magic express back to MCO when our flight was delayed by 5 hours so able to relax until we left. Read less

After booking our dream honeymoon in 2017 for a once in a lifetime trip and our first time to Disney I never thought in a million years did I think we would get a room shoved in a corner with a view of a rooftop. After coming back from the park 4 days in our week’s stay we walked into our room smelling of very strong varnish. The smell was extremely strong we could not stay in the room. From the point of arrival nobody informed us a refurb was going on. I rang down to reception to explain the smell someone from back office (and was quite rude and abrupt) I didn’t quite catch the name then so called “upgraded” us to another room this time with a view of a concrete pillar and very limited with space to put our items in. It stated on our booking that we are on our honeymoon very little effort was made by staff to make our stay feel special. Reception staff need to be knowledgeable with navigation we had a horseback riding trip booked in for 8.30 at Fort Wildness my partner then went to reception to ask on the best way to get there he was told to get a bus to magic Kingdom then get a boat across to which we did. After arriving at Fort Wildness the boat only drops you to the back of the resort not at the front so we had to spend half of our time trying to navigate ourselves from the rear of the resort to the front if it wasn’t for a kind bus driver who asked if we needed help kindly dropped us off at the front of the resort we had already wasted an hour and missed our 8.30 slot trying to find our way round because of Wrong information given to us. I am so glad we did not book our two week honeymoon in this resort I would never want to stay here again and I would definitely not recommend it to our friends and family back in the UK. We did not spend £10,000 to look to at rooftop or a concrete pillar. Read less
