The hotel

This modern All-Inclusive resort offers guests a truly luxurious standard of accommodation and top of the range amenities. SUAN BUA is where you can sample the most delicious Thai food in a suitably tranquil setting, overlooking a lotus pond. For Italian delights, Azzuri Mare is perfect, set beside the ocean, there are seafood platters to feast on, char-grilled entrees and sinful desserts. Coral Bar is one of the most impressive in the Maldives – more than just a bar it’s an entertainment centre with a lively sports bar.

Where is it

In South Ari Atoll, amidst world-class coral and diving spots. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 25 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

Duplex Beach Villas open directly onto the beach, featuring an oversized bathroom with outdoor shower, living room, and king-bed on the upper floor, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Bed & Breakfast: includes daily breakfast at Reef.

Half Board: includes daily breakfast and dinner at Reef, and $40 credit towards food at Suan Bua (once per person, per stay).

Full Board: includes daily breakfast, lunch and dinner at Reef, $40 credit towards food at Suan Bua (once per person, per stay), and afternoon tea at Coral Bar.

All-Inclusive: includes daily breakfast, dine around options for lunch and dinner, afternoon tea, a wide choice of drinks available with meals and from the resorts two bars from 11.00am-11.00pm, additional resort credit towards enhanced dining options, in-room mini-bar (beers, soft drinks, water and snacks, replenished daily), non-motorised water sports and snorkelling equipment.

Grand All-Inclusive: includes daily breakfast, lunch and dinner at all restaurants, afternoon tea, premium beverage choices with meals and from the resorts two bars from 11.00am-11.00pm, in-room mini-bar (beers, soft drinks, water and snacks, replenished daily), non-motorised water sports and snorkelling equipment, in-villa breakfast once per stay, all day snacks, and a choice of selected complimentary excursions.

Deluxe Overwater Villas feature a private sundeck with direct lagoon access, bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi tub, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Premier Overwater Villas are larger in size and offer more privacy, featuring a private sundeck with direct lagoon access, bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi tub, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Family Overwater Villas feature a sundeck with direct lagoon access, bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi tub, PlayStation games console, 1 king-size bed, and bunk beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Premium Sunset Overwater Villas with Pool feature a private infinity pool on the sundeck as well as direct lagoon access, separate bathtub and shower, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Club Sunset Overwater Pool Villas enjoys a spacious sundeck, 12-sqm infinity pool, and a bedroom with 1 king-size bed overlooking the ocean, sleeping maximum 2 adults.

Club Two Bedroom Beach Pool Villas feature duplex accommodation so it's an ideal choice for families or groups travelling together. The spacious villas offer a deck with sun loungers and a plunge pool, bathroom with separate shower and jacuzzi tub, and 1 king-size bed plus a twin bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 kids.

You won’t be disappointed. It’s perfect both for couples and family. Awesome snorkelling spots and amazing little island. Staff is super kind and helpful. A mention for Rocky who made our stay special for the kids with amazing sand art! Thanks Rocky! We traveled with 3 kids and beach villa was super comfortable for the 5 of us!

Highly recommended Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives. Resort so nice and view so amazing. All staff very nice here, including Suan Bua Thai restaurant staff Meaw, Auf and Pablo service us. At Azzuri Mare Italian restaurant to get a nice food amd nice view. Must try Tapanyaki dinner experience.

The hotel is beautiful and rooms very comfortable and the reef is amazing. Lots of privacy and relaxation. The biggest downside is that the fans in all the public spaces look more decorative than functional and without any sea breeze, it can get insufferably hot in the restaurants which are all open. And unfortunately for us, most days we were there were not breezy. I would have loved to have the fan on in the water villa and the door open, but it was just too hot, even in the early morning. We moved to a beach villa and that was much more comfortable since there was more shade and cooler, and you could sit outside under the trees, and can take a dip to cool down without complete submerging in the water. Some guests had their own USB fans which i thought was a brilliant idea. It’s difficult to have a good appetite when it’s so hot, so the half board we were on was quite expensive in that context. Other than that, service and food were generally ok. Also take note that the seaplane isn’t predictable and be prepared to wait, we waited almost 4 hours for the seaplane to go over to Centara and there’s not a lot to eat in the seaplane lounge.
