Jumeirah Vittaveli

Maldives, Indian Ocean

The hotel

It’s hard to return to everyday life after a stay at Jumeirah Vittaveli: the very definition of luxury. Your beach villa is entirely secluded, but still gives direct access to the beach or lagoon, putting you just a swim from one of South Malé Atoll’s healthiest house reefs and five shipwrecks. At your villa, every luxury awaits: an oversized L-shaped pool (you can swim from your bathroom, around your villa, to your terrace), semi-open rain showers, interactive TVs, even adjustable mood lighting. In fact, it will be impossible to holiday anywhere else after you’ve lazed on the daybeds enjoying cocktails at B4R, dined with your feet in the sand at Mu Beach Bar, woken early for yoga in the spa garden and sunk into the massage table in an overwater treatment room. And, with one of the Maldives’ largest kids' clubs and Ice Ice Maybe, the Maldives' first ice rink built from artificial 'Glice', who can disagree?

Liked a lot our stay in the hotel. Hassan and Nabeel made our stay in the villa and on the island very comfortable. Kids enjoyed a sea shore. Spa is excellent - I came with a shoulder trauma which was taken care of very professionally... I recommend to go...

I stayed at this resort for 4 nights. Our party has 2 kids and 2 adults. We stayed at the Ocean Villa with water slide. The resort is situated close to Male Airport. It’s a 30-40 mins speed boat ride. Upon arriving at the airport, you can check in at the resort lounge at the airport. There are only a few resorts which have a lounge. This saves a lot of check in time. The resort arranged a luxurious yatch to transfer us from the airport to the resort. All bags were carried by resort staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted by resort staff. We arrived at the resort at about 1 PM. As our room was not ready until 3 PM, we were kindly offered a day room. We were taken to a resort tour on a golf cart. Each Villa has a butler. We are grateful to have Michelle assigned to us. She looked after us and my kids very closely. Our Villa has a magnificent view over the lagoon and the Indian Ocean. The Villa is huge. There is a King Sized Bed and two sofa beds. Outdoor- there is a slide, plunge pool, beach chairs with sand, 2 dining tables and a dymock. We can jump into the lagoon and snorkel there. The water is about 2 meters deep. The water is quite clean and warm. If it was not because of the monsoon season, the water will be much more cleaner and calm. We snorkeled basically everyday. There are other types of villas like detached ocean villas with slide, ocean villa without slide and beach villa. There is of course the Royal Residence (US30K per night, private beach, private gym, private restaurant, 3 villas and an exclusive butler). Water center staff are very nice. My kid did Discover Scuba with Jane and it was a very good start for him. There is a kids club with indoor and outdoor activities. There is also a pool. Staff are great and friendly. Restaurant staff are very nice generally. We felt very welcomed and many staff remembered our room number and our preferred drinks. There are a few themed restaurants. French and Indian cuisine were great! The spa was great! Therapist are very experienced. When I lie fat on the message bed, there is a glass flood to look into the sea. After all the above good things, there are a few things to improve:- 1. Our room WiFi was dead during the first 2 days of our stay. While it was obvious that the router had problems, IT insisted to change the LAN cables and reset the router repeatedly. The problem was gone after IT agreed to replace the router after I insisted for 2 days. During that 2 days, Michelle had kindly lend me her data SIM card. 2. Food is a bit pricey ... given the price of the resort. 3. Food quality can improve by a lot. The food was like Mr Wong’s buffet .... After all, it’s a great experience and the resort is great! The Indian restaurant and Finesse is a must, but need to book as the restaurant capacities are very limited. We has a bad experience at Best Dives which is the water sports center with one of the employees, we then took it to the manager Trevor, who compensated us and made our trip extremely good and made sure we did not remember about the bad experience, Trevor is your man to go to if you have any problems at Best Dives. Would rate the property 8/10. Read less
