Maldives, Indian Ocean

The hotel

Renowned for its quality and service, the OBLU by Atmosphere at Helengeli brings with it vibrant and refreshing interiors and design and a new island resort concept. You will benefit from the latest in hotel luxuries alongside the timeless treats a Maldivian island guarantees. Treats like diving at the 5-star PADI dive centre, snorkelling in crystal waters, relaxing by a choice of swimming pools (including an adults-only pool in a secluded area of the island) and strolling on sugar white sands that have barely seen a footprint. In a quiet spot on the less-developed northeast rim of the atoll, the OBLU has an exotic and unique house reef, home to pelagic fish, just metres from its shoreline, so it’s a good job the use of snorkelling gear’s included in your all-inclusive plan.

We all are Work Permit holders in Maldives and resort offered us a wonderful package, in Deluxe beach villas. Room ID and wash room arrangements were in maximum level and those were fully clean. Resort staff is working hard to keep the garden and walk ways clean and attractive manner. Then the best… We had a wondrous snorkeling session near the sunset jetty and it was one of best snorkeling in my life. We were served by very kind staff at the spice restaurant and they were very friendly too. we all appreciate their service. At last, I would say there were not many varieties for breakfast, Lunch & dinner. We think the resort will pay close attention to this matter soon. Read less

Have just spent an amazing 10 nights at this resort . Felt looked after from the minute we met the staff at the airport for our speed boat transfer. Wonderful reception when we arrived and the friendliness of staff continued through our staff. My daughter made great use of the snorkelling equipment and we made use of the other inclusive amenities. The adult pool was great for us and anyone else who didn’t want noisy children although to be fair there were not many children on the island . We are going home feeling relaxed and would definitely visit again. Thank you everyone for making this a holiday of a life time. Read less

This resort is excellent. The rooms, service, food, snorkeling, atmosphere - everything is super nice. Room is medium sized, but nice furnishing and very clean. Bathroom is open-air and huge, probably bigger than the room. Food is very good, I wouldn't say the best, but there's plenty of choice and the quality is high. For snorkelers: there is… Read more
This resort is excellent. For snorkelers: there is abundant sea life, but access to the water is mainly through a pier, because there are rocks in the sea. We saw sharks, octopuses, dozens of turtles, a few stingrays, etc. We had a great time and we hope we will be back there some day. Next Maldives trip is to another island managed by the same brand. Firstly we were greeted at the airport and taken to the speedboat, we were given water, cold towels, WiFi and the boat had air conditioning. After the 50 minutes on the speedboat we were welcomed with drums and smiles and quickly shown to our beach villa, Room 201 perfect location right next to the pool and helens bar and it’s own private beach. The room was cleaned twice a day by Shahid, at night time our beds were ready to get into with Ferrero Roche’s a nice little touch. The deluxe beach villas were spacious and well equipped with 2 wardrobes, life jackets, a beach bag, flip flops and a coffee/ tea station and a mini bar. The open air bathroom was huge, a hair dryer, shampoo and soaps, flannels, shower caps and towels were all provided. The hotel was very clean and is constantly getting cleaned all day. The spice restaurant, food was limited but everything that was out was amazing, there was different themed nights and something different every single day, staff very friendly and always ask how your day has been. Just Grill Restaurant, we chose to eat here on one of the nights, there was a lot to choose from on the menu and in between the 3 courses we were given little appetisers, service was amazing in just grill, it is quite over priced and everything you buy 22% is added on. Cocou bar next to reception, is always empty not many people visit this bar, there was sandwiches, donuts and cakes to choose from, the man was very rarely in the cafe to order drinks from. Helens bar staff were absolutely amazing, the minute we sat down at the pool our drinks order was brought over to us, then every 20 minutes we were brought drinks again, always made an effort with us. Snorkelling was amazing on every part of the island, snorkels, flippers and life jackets were provided. The jetty is a lovely place to snorkel and see a variety of fish and is also good to see the sunset at night time. The reception area is a good place to see baby sharks and stingrays, of a night time the sunset fishing trip is a must! Some bigger sharks follow the boat for the rest of the bait into the harbour. The jetty and the pool beach is the best to see turtles. The shop was adequate, go pros and souvenirs and clothing are available to buy, I needed plasters but could only go to the clinic and pay $25 for them. All staff were very friendly and will go an extra mile for you. I would highly recommend this beautiful island to anyone, as for the construction site, you cannot hear it at all and it is not a distraction, the building site is on the normal beach villa side, if you don’t want to see it I would advise upgrading to the deluxe beach villa. If you have a later flight the last speed boat is at 4pm, meaning you may be stranded at the airport for more time than you need to be, we were booked with virgin and greeted and given options on what to do during our 7 hour wait, the vip lounge, or a tour guide free of charge to take you around the island, only paying to keep your suitcases in a lockup $6 per suitcase. Spent 4 nights at Oblu on Helengeli island. The island itself is full of lush trees and foliage which is cooling and shade producing on often sunny islands. We stayed in the villas partially over the water with plunge pools. The decor and privacy were great! Witnessing much reef sea life was easy right off of our deck! The dining options and buffets were very different each day, enough to keep any diner from feeling bored with choices. The all inclusive alcohol plan was a nice perk as well. Aside from it being the beginning of monsoon season and the currents being extremely strong, the snorkeling was decent but would have been better with calmer waters. Many water activities were unavailable during our stay due to those currents. Lovely place to really escape from it all! Read less
