The hotel

In a tropical location, just steps from a beautiful stretch of beach, Ambre offers chic, elegant accommodation in a serene atmosphere. While away lazy days beside the sea or explore underwater in the lagoon, bursting with colourful marine life. There are water sports down at the beach including windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. Daily entertainment takes place around the pool and at night, the pace kicks up a notch with DJs and live music. In a quiet corner of the hotel is the Spa, a soothing retreat with hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi — enjoy a treatment whilst listening to the ocean gently lap the shores. When it comes to dining, you’re spoiled for choice. There’s Indigo with its interactive buffet stations featuring Indian, Chinese and Creole specialities as well as international favourites. Dolce Vita is an authentic Italian-style trattoria, with homemade antipasti, pizzas and grill specialities — or, for a supplement, you can dine at La Plage beach restaurant with its cool feet-in-the-sand attitude. We had the best guest service here at the hotel. Really felt treated like kings & queens. Upon arrival and until our last day, Arnanda & Sharvind ensured that we were satisfied, going above and beyond to provide the best relational service. The view, the weather, the peaceful environment allowed for the perfect restful gateway. And dinner at the Dolce Vita was amazing. Kanden, Nitish, Amar offered the best service. And Chef Vicky makes one of the beeeeest vegetarian pasta (even not on the menu). All in all, we highly recommend Ambre for such an intentional service and have had an amazing stay so far . So amazing that we're writing before the end of our stay. Read less

Well, where do I start? Firstly, the boss and I are here now, have been for 6 days and still have 8 nights to go. Ambre is a relatively small, personal and extremely friendly resort who’s staff,( and there’s lots of them), can’t do enough for you. Our room,165, is spacious, has a huge bed, separate shower room and toilet and the patio/ balcony looks straight out to sea, incredible. It is also kept impeccable thanks to the maids. Laundry service is spot on too. Food- I can’t believe so me previous posts, it’s awesome and we haven’t yet had the same thing twice. We did try the restaurant across the road following our previous comments but wish we hadn’t, the staff were clueless, kids running all over the place and the food was a disaster, my chicken curry was tasteless and the wife’s beef fillet refused to be cut by anything,( we did receive a large refund which is why I haven’t named them). Beach activities/ trips, avoid getting ripped off by only speaking to Chris on the beach, he has fixed prices,( no add ons), and works closely with Vicky,( the in house taxi man), and between them, can organize anything. Keep your eyes open whilst in the sea, the turtles are incredible. The Covid procedures in place are excellent with testing on arrival and day 5 very smooth as well as face masks worn all over the resort except pool area, eateries and the beach, don’t be tempted to wear them in water, you’ll end up water boarding yourself🤷‍♂️ Things that could be better- Wifi connection and speed Some items are chargeable despite being All in, that goes especially for the Italian a la carte restaurant. Get the beach bbq open,( although I do have understand why it isn’t yet, not many visitors yet). We were lucky enough to be in Barbados last year and Bali before that and I can categorically state that Ambre in Mauritius is our new go to place. Read less
