The St. Regis Mauritius Resort

Mauritius, Indian Ocean

The hotel

A luxurious throwback to the colonial days when Mauritius’ sugar industry thrived, the all-suite The St. Regis Mauritius Resort’s rambling grounds, residential atmosphere, and bespoke furnishings create the feel of a Victorian sugar baron’s mansion. The exclusive St. Regis Butler Service sweetens your experience – they’ll pour your morning coffee, make your dinner reservations, and even unpack (and repack) your cases. The homely feel here doesn’t mean you forgo resort treats though: there are lovely pools, water sports and exquisite dining and drinking spots, from the Asian Floating Market to the beachside Boathouse and Grill. The UNESCO World Heritage site at Le Morne Mountain provides a befitting backdrop to the resort with some of the world's best diving and kite-surfing only moments away. Days are best spent on the hotel's white sand beach, one of the island’s best, with its iridescent lagoon. Press the buzzer on your parasol and your drinks and snacks will be delivered to your lounger! If you want to escape the sun, head for the hotel's air-conditioned indoor cinema with its reclining chairs — some of your favourite films shown every day!

This special holiday in September 2019 was for my wife's and my 60th birthday. From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIP's, offered a refreshing drink and treated with the utmost respect. Our room was beautiful with a view of the beach in luscious gardens. The food in the various restaurants was top class and the general level of service was beyond reproach. It is only fair that I highlight certain people in particular who deserve special praise. Our butler Vick was the most amazing guy with nothing being too much trouble for him to organise. In particular, we arrived back at the hotel one afternoon from a trip to find our room decorated with rose petals including the drawn bath and a bottle of champagne chilling, to celebrate our special birthday occasion. Vick is one in a million and a real credit to the St Regis. Other people worth mentioning are Atma, Julien and Virginnie at the Boathouse bar and restaurant who were so kind and thoughtful, especially Atma who was a joy to talk to and kept me supplied with 'Flying Dodos'! The facilities were first class; from the complimentary trip on the glass bottomed boat to tennis, snorkelling kayaking etc. However, it is down to these people and others around the resort who made our holiday so special that would prompt me to return again. I would wholeheartedly recommend this resort to anyone who wants to just chill and suck up the vibe of this most wonderful island, people and resort. We will be back! Read less

Our taxi driver told us that Mauritius can be represented by the 4S's - Sun, Sand, Sea and Smile. And at St Regis Mauritius Resort we found all these. We travelled to Mauritius as a family of three with an 11 year old son. Our stay at the St Regis exceeded our expectations and it is not easy to described in a few words. The St Regis is an amazing colonial hotel with a Mauritian feel offering breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean waters, with Le Morne as a backdrop to the resort. The rooms are extremely clean, with a perfect layout to enjoy the views even from our room. Our room was close to the heated pool which we enjoyed daily, especially early morning. The grounds are kept impeccably maintained with a variety of flowering plants, palm trees and frangipane trees all around the resort. The beaches are meticulously swept and clear of the debris, any sea weed and big stones. And the deckchairs are always ready for the residents with nice soft turquoise towels freshly rolled on them. We stayed on a full board basis so all the meals were included in our package. The restaurants offers different menus - The Boathouse offering good steaks, fish and pizza, Simply India with a taste of India, and an Asian menu at the Floating Market. And for the authentic Mauritian taste, Le Manoir restaurant cannot be missed especially on the Mauritian night where sega dancers accompany the diners! Facilities at the St Regis include the water sports activities, the cinema with the luxurious leather reclining chairs, the spa, a photographic studio, tennis courts, etc. And last but not least, I cannot not mention the people who made this holiday so special and unforgettable. A big thank you to our butler Levi, who ensured that our entire stay was perfect. We travelled to Mauritis to celebrate my husband's birthday and Levi came up with ideas to surprise my husband, including delivering a cake in the morning and setting a table setting at the Boat House for dinner in the evening. Thanks Levi, you made the birthday celebration extra special! He also suggested excursions and places to go and since we were driving he always made sure that we had returned safely to the resort. Thanks also to Var Sha at Le Manoir Restaurant, who introduced us to the Mauritian menu and always greeted us with a big smile, to Nico at the Boat House who can be described as a gentle smiling giant, to Alvin at the Boat House, who made sure that we have our room early after more than 25 hours of travel, to the motherly lady at the egg station at breakfast, who created the perfect omelettes and poached eggs, to the photographer who captured fabulous family moments and to the many others who greeted us with smiles, good mornings and evening, addressing us with our names. Thanks to you all, you made this vacation a dream to remember and cherise. We would also like to thank Mr Dimitrios Korsifakos, who always had time to stop and talk to us. Saying good bye was really difficult. Thanks St Regis Le Morne, definitely a place where we will return to and that we'll recommend. See you soon (hopefully). The Schembri's, Malta Read less

This is one of our most favorite hotels in the world and hence we keeping coming back. Its location speaks for itself, perfect kite surfing for my husband and a fabulous beach for me! But that aside, the other reason we love it so much are the amazing staff throughout the resort together with the stunning food in all the restaurants and the luxurious accommodation. We are always so well looked after and want for nothing during our stay. All the team are first class and the environment, beach and the gardens are all absolutely beautiful. We would like to make special mention to the following members of staff who helped to make our holiday so incredible: Jaysen Rama, our Butler, who looked after and anticipated our every need with effortless efficiency and professionalism, always with a smile, and who when our return flight was delayed by 12 hours immediately made all the necessary arrangements to assist us and make a potentially difficult situation very easy. Erika and the housekeeping team who made sure our beautiful room was always spotlessly clean and tidy. Lucinda, Sajeet & Sebastian at the Boat House who served us breakfast every day overlooking the beach, and remembered which juices we liked without us asking! Vishan & Julian at the 1904 Bar who create the most delicious cocktails and who are always ready for a challenge to make something new. Savina and the Sommelier team who recommended perfect wines to match our food. Kamtu and Sharma at the Simply India restaurant who also created stunning menus for us and we were particularly impressed by the new decor and lighting in this restaurant - a great improvement on last year. Thank you to Smitesh the very hard working F&B Manager who is always around keeping a close eye on everything and thank you also to all the other staff at Le Manoir, the Floating Market, Atsuko and the Boat House restaurants whose names we may not have mentioned. On the beach, we must thank Arnoud and his colleagues who brought us towels, cleaned our sunglasses, ordered our drinks (recommend the Go Green) and always with a sunny smile. At the ION water sports centre a big thank you to Jason, Emma and their team who run a very professional and efficient operation. Finally we would like to thank Dimitrios the resort manager and all the admin team. We will definitely return! Read less
