The St. Regis Mauritius Resort

Mauritius, Indian Ocean

The hotel

A luxurious throwback to the colonial days when Mauritius’ sugar industry thrived, the all-suite The St. Regis Mauritius Resort’s rambling grounds, residential atmosphere, and bespoke furnishings create the feel of a Victorian sugar baron’s mansion. The exclusive St. Regis Butler Service sweetens your experience – they’ll pour your morning coffee, make your dinner reservations, and even unpack (and repack) your cases. The homely feel here doesn’t mean you forgo resort treats though: there are lovely pools, water sports and exquisite dining and drinking spots, from the Asian Floating Market to the beachside Boathouse and Grill. The UNESCO World Heritage site at Le Morne Mountain provides a befitting backdrop to the resort with some of the world's best diving and kite-surfing only moments away. Days are best spent on the hotel's white sand beach, one of the island’s best, with its iridescent lagoon. Press the buzzer on your parasol and your drinks and snacks will be delivered to your lounger! If you want to escape the sun, head for the hotel's air-conditioned indoor cinema with its reclining chairs — some of your favourite films shown every day!

We sat at a beach table and eventually a waiter came over to advise we could only get pizza at that particular place - ok fine. Several minutes later he came to set the table and hand out menus and only at that point did he ask our room number - we explained we weren't staying at the resort but just wanted lunch. At that point we got a long winded explanation about how that would not be possible - if we wanted to eat we would have to go to the hotel reception, register, fill out some forms....... So we left. I have been to hundreds of hotels all over the world both as a resident and a non guest and have never been refused food or drink at any of them! Prices here are not cheap and I am sure the St Regis group did not need the £50 we would have spent but the whole thing was bizarre! Read less

We have just spent a fabulous week at the St Regis in a Beachfront room - it was light, spacious and equipped with everything you may need for a relaxed week. There is so much positive to say, that it is difficult to know where to start. Overall, I would say that the standout feature is the outstanding service they offer. Again, this is something which runs across the hotel, but for us Ravi and Nicholas made a huge impression - always available, always friendly and willing to go above and beyond. We spent quite a bit of time at the spa which was beautifully appointed and tranquil and the therapists were all excellent. Around the pool and on the beach, guests are endlessly pampered and taken care of. The hotel can organise numerous activities and excursions and my family, who are experienced divers, really enjoyed the efficiency of the dive centre, with particular mention made of Brian. Our trip out to swim with the dolphins was memorable. They have a well equipped gym, floodlit tennis court, movie theatre and so much more that we really didn't have time to explore. Lastly, the food, was fantastic with a diverse range of restaurants to choose from including Indian, Asian, Mauritian and more and they were always willing to accommodate us with slight changes according to our preferences. This was our fourth visit to Mauritius and I can truly say that we have enjoyed staying in the Le Morne region the most. Read less

We were in Mauritius for 8 days and stayed at St. Regis Mauritius for 4 days. It was a fantabulous stay. The hospitality was right up there which is why this group is defined as the Luxury Group of Hotels. The entire team was fantastic. The rooms, the views, the beach...i am speechless to describe them in a small essay here. The team even threw a surprise birthday party for my son even though his birthday was a week away. It was simply awesome...They were just too good and extremely baby friendly. The only minor issue I felt was the food. They do have an Indian restaurant but the food taste was bland and not up to the mark of Indian fine dining standards. And I believe the Breakfast Menu could have been slightly more for Indians since many Indians visit this Resort. Read less
