Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

A colourful hideaway offering a great atmosphere and fantastic views of the Indian Ocean. The 25-metre long swimming pool is one of the main attractions in the heart of this low rise resort. The Gravity bar has a shisha lounge upstairs, with cocktails, music and beach views. The stylish décor blends cool whites, warm woods, and turquoise details echoing the ocean waters. And there are beachside barbecues and waterfront dining venues. The AVANI also gives a taste of the rest of the Seychelles, with tamarind from the north infusing everything from ice creams to champagne rum cocktails. This is the complete island experience.

On our second Honey Moon here, overall a good experience Ill do a "+" and "-" and an advice section(you will need it). + Huge Rooms with flat TV(All Sky Sports access) + Private beach, wich is one of best on the Island + Private pool, 3 types of restaurants, 1 Outside bar with fresh coconuts + Mostly great staff, congratz on training them. - Bath in room(if you travel with children, they will see you naked. - Furniture(very old, not only in room, restaurant, etc are outdated). - They promote the buffet but its mostly junk food. So now, for the advice section: We rented the car on Mahe(wich costs minimum of 500Eur for 8days - is not really worth it, you can use the public transport for alot less, you have to drive on the left side, with no lanes drawn, tons of potholes, no safety belt on any roads). At Avani - try to eat at the a la carte restaurant(the food is good and it costs 50% of the buffet wich is junk, they have a theme every night, but is mostly the same food), the seafood restaurant is very good but the food costs around 65eur/pers. At lunch, go across the road there is a cafe with great food and souvenirs. Buy footwear for rocky undervwaters, Avani provides free snorkling stuff(junk mostly). Organised excursions at the reception start from 110 eur/pers and go up to 300(La Digue worth it, the rest...overpriced for nothing much, and you have to be up at 5 in the morning). This is a great island with great potential and we loved it. Almost all the coral barrier is dead thanks to us humans. Read less

The hotel location is in a very nice and quite area by the ocean with a stunning view towards the mountain. The hotel facilities were very good, with two restaurants, lounge area, pool and sauna. In front of the hotel there is a long and clean beach with water perfect for swimming and snorkeling. the hotel staff was very friendly and always around. The hotel room was spacious and clean with air conditioning and dehumidifier. The wi-fi in the room was pretty good. Everywhere in the hotel area it was clean and green space was very well taken care of. Close to the hotel there was also a public bus stop, good to use for a daily trip to the capital. Also, if you want to rent a car, there is a dedicated desk inside the hotel. The food in the half board was very good with variations, with everyday dinner in a different theme. The drinks were quite expensive though and during dinner no drink was included in the menu. Overall the hotel is a very good choice for a relaxing holiday in a dream landscape. We would come back anytime. Read less

Very nice teritorry, good rooms. Quite big so don't expect boutique cosiness. Be aware of tides, the beach is not swimable at all times. But resort has very good swimming pool. My husband, 4 year old daughter and I spent an incredible 11 nights at the AVANI resort celebrating my husband’s fab 40th. From the moment we arrived to the time we departed, all the staff were on hand and nothing was too much trouble. We were greeted with lovely cool towels, drinks and we were greeted by our name on arrival, which was impressive. I had liaised with Jessica (Sales Manager) prior to our arrival (so was lovely to be greeted by her on arrival) as I wanted to ensure my husband’s special day was well catered for. Jessica was first class in organising a complimentary bottle of Laurent Perrier during our stay and helped to organise breakfast on the beach which was well executed by Kavi (Food & Beverages Manager). We also bumped into Jessica one evening after dinner and she sent over complimentary cocktails for us, thank you again. Our breakfast on the beach on my husband’s birthday was beautiful the table was set beautifully with flowers and the balloons I had provided. Kavi ensured we had a butler service which was above our expectations. That evening Kavi also organised a lovely private dining dinner upstairs in the Laurent Perrier Lounge with lovely views of the ocean. We had originally booked Tamarind but were subsequently told that a wedding party had booked out the whole restaurant. So we were presented with a wonderful alternative still enjoying the Tamarind menu. Again first class service thank you again Kavi and all the waiting & cooking staff that looked after us during our whole stay - Princess, Mary, Deepak, Ajit... and many more. Thusha and the pool staff were also very attentive and friendly especially the wonderful coconut decorations 😁 The resort is set in a beautiful location the beach and views are simply breathtaking. Our Ocean View room was located perfectly overlooking the pool and ocean and just a minutes walk from reception and Elements perfect with a child where we had to go back and forth to the room throughout the day. Room 212 ❤️ During our last few nights our iPhone charges stopped working which was odd and as we relied on our phones to contact each other and for photos of course this was a problem. The reception staff attempted to charge my phone but it also didn’t work. I spoke to Kavi and again he was at hand to solve our problem! He leant us his charger for the remainder of our stay and advised the humidity maybe the issue and hairdryer may do the trick, and it did. We did an island hop excursion through Mason Travel where we visited Praslin and La Digue. It was an early start at 6.20am and we got back to AVANI at 8pm. Kavi arranged sandwiches for my daughter for us to pick up before leaving with fruit & croissants from the continental breakfast service. We had an enjoyable and informative day. We took our daughter with us even though Mason Travel were advising against doing the two islands as previous families had found it too hectic! Our experience was not hectic at all every family is different and every child is different so DO NOT let travel with kids put you off going on an adventure. We saw: - giant tortoises 🐢 - how coconut oil is made 🥥 - Valle de Mer (only place in the world coco de mer grow) - lunch provided on Praslin - 6th most beautiful beach in the world - Anse Lazio 🏝 For more photos and blogs of our entire stay follow me on Instagram S_I_M_A_S_A_N_D_A_L (This is my world🌈). Thank you Avani and thank you Seychelles for a memorable vacation. You have stole our hearts. 💕 Read less
