Hilton Labriz Seychelles

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

The Seychelles make an obvious choice for those looking to hide from day-to-day realities and none more so than Silhouette Island. The island looks like another world, untouched by time with glass-smooth granite boulders strewn around the beach and a stunning blue lagoon. The Giant Tortoise makes a home here and you won’t want to leave either once you see the designer villas and pavilions nestled between lush jungle and the white sand beach. Imaginatively and carefully designed to create the feeling of maximum space, together with ensuring they are sympathetic to their surroundings, the villas and suites are simply lovely. Experience complete indulgence with the Silhouette Spa where there is a wide range of treatments available, you can even enjoy a treatment in the private outdoor pavilion. With seven elegant restaurants and bars, there is certainly quite some choice when it comes to dining. Make sure to try the fine dining experience of the elegant Portobello, which serves modern Italian cuisine with stunning views of Mount Dauban. If you can be tempted away from the idyllic beaches, and they are difficult to tear yourself away from, a major highlight on the island is the Grand Tortoise Sanctuary where animals of up to 120 years old may be seen.

We came to the Hilton Labriz during October/November 2020 for 5 nights and stayed in a Sanctuary Pool Villa. We had an arranged package, came with one of the morning flights and I must say the check in which starts at the Jetty on Mahe Island until entering the room functions like a clockwork. Short waiting period before the boat leaves, good for a coffee or 2, around 40 mins boat ride, not too rough and then a well done guidance from arrival port to the room, one by one incorporating social distancing but without any major waiting period. Due to COVID and since our departure country is categorized "high risk" for the first 5 days there is no daily cleaning in the room, however it is possible to get fresh linens in case you want to change them yourself, also room service is available and great. Even our mandatory COVID test on the 5th day was conveniently arranged in our room. The villa itself is really nice, with a decently spaced garden with 2 different seating areas, a sundeck and a clean swimming pool. We took this room in order to have the possibility to swim just in case the "quarantine" phase of 5 days would have been very strict. However it was possible to roam around on the hotel grounds freely as long as you wear a mask during the first 5 days, which of course you can take off if you want to swim in the sea etc. It was not a big hassle, besides from that due to the size of the hotel grounds you do not meet other people that often. It was always possible to find a sunbed along the beach which was never crowded at any point of time. There is currently only limited service with food and beverage by the pool and beach, I assume due to COVID, but we never ended up hungry or thirsty during our beach stays. There is a nice choice of restaurants in the hotel, not all of them are fine dining, but they offer a good variety of choices. Maybe the Italian restaurant came closest to fine dining. There is a local restaurant called Grand Kaz, however we never managed to dine here since it was always closed when we tried to reserve a table. Also note that not all restaurants are open every day, that's something to check before you chose. During breakfast at the main restaurant we always found a spot on the lovely terrace overlooking the beach and the sea. Service here was friendly and good. Food choices ok. If you plan to stay longer than a week you might find that there are not enough choices. After the 5th day and a negative COVID test result we were allowed to use the spa, which is nestled in between some large rocks and palm trees. As per my understanding there is only 1 couple allowed inside the spa at a time due to distancing. The treatment was very relaxing. Furthermore there are some other things to do on the island, snorkeling and diving (which we did not do), our villa had 2 bicycles to roam around and the island had some hikes to lonely beaches, hills or even a small mausoleum. We truly enjoyed our relaxing stay on Silhouette Island and the Hilton Labriz and would definitely book this hotel again. A small hint regarding the pool villas, if you struggle to chose between Sanctuary Pool Villa and Beachfront Pool Villa: the beach front pool villas give you your own beach and super nice views of the sea, but other people might take a walk on the same beach. The Sanctuary Pool Villas are facing mainly some rock walls, however you would have more privacy here as the back garden is not accessible by any others guests. Read less

The Yoga Instructor was brilliant, he actually sorted out a back problem that I had and gave me very good advice 10/10 for this guy!!! The only negative point that I found was some German tourists who had the garden villa would drag the sunbeds to the beach, drink beer and then leave the sunbeds and empty bottles on the beach!!!!! Although COVID makes traveling a little tough these days you will not have to worry once you set a foot on Silhouette island. A strong hygiene concept, well trained staff and lots of space are granted. We picked exactly the right destination and hotel. From the minute Aysha - as Guest Experience Manager - got in contact with us right after we hit the “book” button, everything was taken care of. She even greeted us upon arrival and was available for every need we had 24/7. Thank you for treating us the way you did Aysha! No matter where you go, all team members are chatty and know how to make you very comfortable. Everybody will try to please you and bring your stay to a great experience. We enjoyed a beach front villa sleeping to the sound of the ocean, having a cup of coffee on our veranda (housekeeping immediately brought a Nespresso machine with daily replenish as I asked if there was instant coffee to be found in the room). We tried all of the resort’s restaurants and couldn’t point out which we liked the most. Maybe it is the barbecue one at the beach with fresh seafood (where we went twice as the prawns and coconut rice are just awesome) One of the best features was the executive breakfast at the Portobello restaurant as it was very quiet and Charles (service) and Dharmpal (chef) were spoiling us and our fellow few other HH gold members with very tasty food and outgoing service. This gave our stay a massive upgrade as we are not big buffet fans and the buffet at the regular breakfast place was (at least in the last hour) a little empty. So thank you Hilton Labritz for having us - we will definitely come back and hike those mountains, swim at these beautiful beaches and enjoy this outstanding service again. What a great experience! We stayed at the Hilton for 5 nights in a Sanctuary villa with private pool and it was simply amazing. Right from check in at the jetty lounge the feeling of being transported to paradise began. We were transported by a big closed ferry and were greeted by a handful of staff waving as we docked. The coordination of everyone off the boat and buggies was swiftly handled and we did a quick tour around the resort before a heading to our room. The room is everything you could want on an island and the privacy aspect should put it on any honeymooners wishlist. With ample space, if the four poster (really comfortable) bed or massive bathroom with round bathtub does not impress you then the pool with outside shower and deck chairs, sun lounger and a dining area on a raised deck will. The bikes at every villa is a lovely amenity to have and we used them frequently. Definitely one of the best hotel rooms I have stayed in. The staff are so accommodating and friendly, even though they are so few of them due to covid. They work tirelessly to ensure all guests are happy. A huge thank you to the chefs who catered to my picky eating habits and did so happily. They went out of their way to ensure if it was possible we got it and that is exceptional service. A big shout out to bar and service staff that pulled extra long hours but were always so attentive and friendly. We quarantined at the hotel but were able to use most of the facilities (excluding gym and spa) and dined at every restaurant. The nurse came to our room to administer the covid test which is a great service to have. The island is quite big to explore on foot, we did a small hike to the cross on the side of a cliff on the Rammasse Tout route and got some nice views. We also tried out the spa which was nestled between the rocks and got a good couples massage. What I would like to see updated on my next visit is a new pool table and fresher more gourmet cuisine. We have been to a few Hilton’s around the world but this one is a bar above the rest! Seychelles is one of my favorite places to visit and now I have a favorite resort in mind for next time as well.
