Hilton Labriz Seychelles

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

The Seychelles make an obvious choice for those looking to hide from day-to-day realities and none more so than Silhouette Island. The island looks like another world, untouched by time with glass-smooth granite boulders strewn around the beach and a stunning blue lagoon. The Giant Tortoise makes a home here and you won’t want to leave either once you see the designer villas and pavilions nestled between lush jungle and the white sand beach. Imaginatively and carefully designed to create the feeling of maximum space, together with ensuring they are sympathetic to their surroundings, the villas and suites are simply lovely. Experience complete indulgence with the Silhouette Spa where there is a wide range of treatments available, you can even enjoy a treatment in the private outdoor pavilion. With seven elegant restaurants and bars, there is certainly quite some choice when it comes to dining. Make sure to try the fine dining experience of the elegant Portobello, which serves modern Italian cuisine with stunning views of Mount Dauban. If you can be tempted away from the idyllic beaches, and they are difficult to tear yourself away from, a major highlight on the island is the Grand Tortoise Sanctuary where animals of up to 120 years old may be seen.

A stunning location, with brilliant staff. BUT very expensive. We knew this in advance, of course, and we were fully expecting expensive drinks and so on. What we didn't expect was the eye-watering cost of any excursion. This being a small island, we were looking forward to a bit of walking around the island and a few boat trips. One of the day boat trips, to Praslin Island, cost £270 per person! Sorry, but we have been on many such boat trips from places around the world (e.g. Maldives) and that's a ridiculous price. Other excursions, including the 'hikes around Silhouette' were less expensive, but still unreasonably high. Read less

You need to take a 35 minute boat ride for an additional charge. The boat runs 3x/day. The Hilton property is pretty much the only thing on Silhouette Island besides the National Park which covers 93% of the island. With Diamond status, we were upgraded to a beachfront villa and had included breakfast every morning at Portobello restaurant along with a number of other freebies such as bike and snorkel rental and a paddle board. Our villa was beautiful with a small swimming pool. Guest services/employees were excellent. A special thank you to Uis, from the Netherlands who took care of us most mornings at Portobello and 2x for dinner there as well. The dinners were clearly not inexpensive but not so pricey as to be a source of irritation. Unless you want to do the buffet dinner or have appetizer and desert as well at one of the four included restaurants, you better off going a la carte, which is what we did. We never spent as much as €50 for dinner, which is the daily cost of the half board option. We ate at all 4 restaurants. We liked Sakura the least and Gran Kazz the best. I was not particularly impressed the underwater views with snorkeling off the beaches or scuba diving on the north side of the island. All in all, a lovely place for a few days of rest and relaxation. Read less

Hilton Labriz was a perfect blend of the above. The service staff were extremely helpful and took special care of vegetarian needs. The views are stunning and there are plenty options for family and couples. Highly recommend

Nice 8 day stay, transfer by boat can get a little choppy so those of you with motion sickness might suffer a little. Great welcome, super fast check in. Rooms are your traditional villas, functional and clean. Nice environment, keep in mind you can't go around the entire island as your typical Seychelles rocks will prevent you from doing so. You can still hike a little around though. Also, weather in Seychelles can be quite unpredictable, snorkeling on one side of the Island was cancelled due to rough sea and at this time of the year you can get all four seasons in a couple of hours. Food was awesome in all restaurants, great staff and cooks, sorry I can't remember all the names but it was impossible to fault anyone. Same with the Spa, great place and super massages. Activities like hiking are available. We did one that was pretty demanding and not for everyone. Now, a few hiccups: at this price range, hard to believe you had to pay to rent a mask and a snorkel at 500 euros per night. Some villas, close to the Spa and in front of the beach will witness beach erosion firsthand. The helicopter transfer to the airport was outrageously expensive, as expensive as a flight from Paris to Mauritius!!! Keep an eye on your final receipt as I noticed I was supposed to pay stuff I had never asked for. Finally, even though you were on an private Island, it didn't feel like it as the villas are close to each other and with dozens and dozens of them, privacy is not really a strongpoint there. Still, great place but not perfect. Read less
