Raffles Praslin, Seychelles

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

Every little luxury has been thought of at the award-winning Raffles Praslin. It starts with the location, on the white powder sands of Anse Takamaka and just minutes from Anse Lazio, regularly voted one of the world’s best beaches. Then there’s your villa, which has a private plunge pool, an outdoor pavilion with a daybed, and even a yoga mat, easel and sketch pad for moments of pure escapism. There’s also the decadence of two infinity pools and a selection of dining, from pan-Asian to Creole. And, of course, there’s a spa — this vast haven of peace and relaxation is rather special and, with stunning views, luxurious facilities and a tranquil spa garden, it's no surprise it has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards. To top off your stay at Raffles Praslin, you'll find extra treats, like the island’s only shisha lounge, Takamaka Terrace, where you can stargaze and sip cocktails in a rooftop setting.

The resort is beautiful, the villas are absolutely huge, the food was great and the spa treatments and the views from the spa were top notch. So why not give it 5 stars? Service at times was absolutely awful and that's not something you would expect from a Raffles property. We know service can be slow in the Seychelles, especially as it was our 4th hotel on this trip, so we were getting quite used to it, but what we experienced here was on a whole other level! It was only towards the end of our stay that we finally understood why... The resort on the beach next door had to close because of high tides flooding some of their rooms and Raffles was so generous of accommodating most of their guests very last minute. This potentially caused the staff to guest ratio to be well under what it should be in a luxury resort like this. On our last dinner we counted 1 waiter for 12 (twelve!) tables at our restaurant. The poor man was running around, trying his best to serve every single table and did so while smiling and apologising at the same time. You could just feel the guests at the other tables feeling sorry for him. We skipped coffee and desert that evening because we didn't want to give him any more work. Would we recommend Raffles Seychelles and return here? Definitely, because I think we just picked the wrong week to stay here. If their normal service is just half as good as the service we got at their sister-property in the Maldives, it would be a truly amazing resort. Read less

We stayed 4 nights here as a family and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms, particularly the rooms higher up the resort have a lovely view across to Curieuse. Definitely recommend it. Read less

Stayed there for our honeymoon early September. The property itself is gorgeous - amazing views from each villa. We were in Villa 183 - waking up to that ocean view is priceless. We also loved the food - especially the banana leaf steamed snapper with Creole sauce for dinner. However, we were also greeted with a mouse in our villa which completely ruined our experience. We reported this to the front desk who said they would "send someone out immediately" - but no one showed up until the next morning. They failed to remedy the problem or offer a new room despite having seen a photo of the mouse. Perhaps we weren't the first to report this problem? Wish we stayed at the Constance Lumeria instead. Words fall short to describe the beauty of the property. Set amidst lush greens, sitting atop the hill, every Villa looks upon fully or partially onto the ocean and gardens. The bathroom has both shower and bath along with an outdoor shower stall. The villas are huge to say the least. It's worth spending every penny on this exotic and luxurious property. Buggy services provide the internal transportation with Anse Lazio beach just 15 mins by car. To end if you are in the mood to splurge choose Raffles. Read less

Amazing villas, great spa, very attentive staff, top service all the way. We stayed at banyan tree few days and then decided to spend to try praslin. If you can get to the island by helicopter its the best, truly great experience.
