Raffles Praslin, Seychelles

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

Every little luxury has been thought of at the award-winning Raffles Praslin. It starts with the location, on the white powder sands of Anse Takamaka and just minutes from Anse Lazio, regularly voted one of the world’s best beaches. Then there’s your villa, which has a private plunge pool, an outdoor pavilion with a daybed, and even a yoga mat, easel and sketch pad for moments of pure escapism. There’s also the decadence of two infinity pools and a selection of dining, from pan-Asian to Creole. And, of course, there’s a spa — this vast haven of peace and relaxation is rather special and, with stunning views, luxurious facilities and a tranquil spa garden, it's no surprise it has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards. To top off your stay at Raffles Praslin, you'll find extra treats, like the island’s only shisha lounge, Takamaka Terrace, where you can stargaze and sip cocktails in a rooftop setting.

We went to the beach at Raffles resort and a staff member informed us that there is a poison in the seawater, dead fish were found on the beach and he advises us not swimming in the sea. Sorry for Raffles, next time we will choose a sea resort where we can go to the sea.

Generally, the Raffles Hotels are well known to make people happy enchanting them with their special original style, history and stories of celebrities. I was ready not to be seduced easily. All in vain! Both first and last view from the Takamaka Terrace in the Praslin island could steal your heart forever. Each time you jump into the private pool submerged inside the green surrounding your villa you wash out not only your body but also your mind getting rid of any troubles or worries. The nearby coast is full of fish of different sorts and sizes and you can observe it even if you are not a good swimmer. The recreation team pampers the visitors with hot towels and cold drinks, they organize snorkelling tours and many activities including hikes and sport tournaments. People at the reception inspire visitors where and how to relax in the best way, every week hotel news sums up the useful information if one is too lazy to remember it. Ocean View villas are great full of comfort and beauty at the same time. The perfect cleanliness of our villa was guarded by Mr Bidzu. The super positive experience of our staying at the Raffles would not be full without describing their top quality of preparing and serving meals. Let us start with the breakfast: you could choose the continental menu, full English breakfast, fantastic udo noodles, wide selection of fruits and vegetables, tasty bread and pastries, pancakes and crepes not to be forgotten. The morning crew has a difficult job and I truly admired their efforts not only feed but definitely please all customers. Feeling like some light refreshment in the middle of the hot day? - Visit the Pool bar to sip a glass of wine accompanied with lots of water, cool down with the gazpacho or crispy salad. Definitely you must take part in the dining rites. No, do not call them dinners for these are cultivated sessions for those who love delicate food and wine pairing, every night has its own topic (Bollywood, Catch of the Day, Panasian Cuisine) so nobody can be bored. I vote for the Oriental night not only for the perfect meze including hummus, baba ghannouj, olives and pita bread, hummus, but also with the delicate sweets and Moroccan mint tea served professionally and with love by Mr Issam. Although we tried to walk as much as possible (more often downhill), we were very glad to join the joy rides uphill. So many thanks also to all careful buggy drivers, namely to Mr Winston too. To recap the stay using one word only I am calling: "Bravo"! To find the right balance I should comment also negative features of the stay. I have found one and only. The time flies too quickly in the Seychelles. Once again many and many thanks to everyone at the Raffles as we did enjoy this stay very much. Read less
