Raffles Praslin, Seychelles

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

Every little luxury has been thought of at the award-winning Raffles Praslin. It starts with the location, on the white powder sands of Anse Takamaka and just minutes from Anse Lazio, regularly voted one of the world’s best beaches. Then there’s your villa, which has a private plunge pool, an outdoor pavilion with a daybed, and even a yoga mat, easel and sketch pad for moments of pure escapism. There’s also the decadence of two infinity pools and a selection of dining, from pan-Asian to Creole. And, of course, there’s a spa — this vast haven of peace and relaxation is rather special and, with stunning views, luxurious facilities and a tranquil spa garden, it's no surprise it has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards. To top off your stay at Raffles Praslin, you'll find extra treats, like the island’s only shisha lounge, Takamaka Terrace, where you can stargaze and sip cocktails in a rooftop setting.

The Raffles Praslin is a stunning place with great infrastructure and an incredibly kind, highly skilled and caring team. The views from the villas are mesmerizing and the villas themselves are bright, spacious and beautifully designed with large outdoor pavilions. The resort is on the east side of the island and you can enjoy watching the sunrise. The two beaches at the hotel are perfect for swimming and even snorkeling. The main two-tier infinity pool is 45m in length and great for laps. We enjoyed a lot playing at the pétanque court and trying out a lot of the other activities (bikes, kayaks, chess etc). The food in all of the hotel restaurants which we tried was outstanding. Losean Restaurant offers a lavish a la carte breakfast and it is truly a feast. We also had dinner there and it was delicious (both the Seychellois dishes and the international ones). They have a wood fired pizza oven. The in-villa dining was of the same high quality as the food you have in the hotel restaurants. The bartenders at the pool bar make the best cocktails on the island. The hotel takes great precaution with the safety and hygiene measures in light of covid 19. We didn’t find time to try the spa but it’s meant to be the largest one in the Seychelles. There is plenty to do and enjoy at/around the resort for at least a week. We stayed 7 days and could have easily done another week. The hotel is greatly positioned to explore the island and you can easily rent a car (go for a mini moke for a unique experience). The most beautiful beach on the island (Anse Lazio) is just a 40min walk from the hotel. Curieuse Island is also very near and easy to reach as it’s facing the resort. What makes this place truly unique though is the incredible team. We were really impressed with the personalized and attentive care from the entire staff throughout our entire stay. Special thanks to Salwa for gifting us an amazing upgrade for our full stay in celebration of our special occasion. A big thank you also to Kavi who was so kind to surprise us with a lovely bottle of wine on our last evening and to arrange the transportation for our departure. Emily organized all of our arrival logistics so promptly and attentively. We are also truly grateful to the chief concierge Brigitte, who went above and beyond with arranging all of our leisure activities so effortlessly. She knows the right contacts to make things happen instantaneously. She even gave us an annotated map with a full list of recommendations and contacts for La Digue as we were heading there after Praslin. Thank you for an unforgettable stay, Raffles Praslin team! We will be back. Read less

Went to Raffles twice this year and everything was spot on. The staff was amazing, right from the start with Dave you does the pick up and everybody in the restaurant, reception and management. Everyone was making sure we had everything we needed and made us feel comfortable. Food was excellent too! Large selection for breakfast and the theme evenings with entertainment are just perfect. Accommodation is beautiful and very high standard. We have the opportunity to travel a lot either for work or leisure and are lucky to stay in amazing places but Raffles tops the list! We will be back and this time with our little boy. Read less

There were not enough sunbeds at the beach , we had to tip the beachb oy to get an umbrella and 2 beds . The service on the beach was non existing , again without hefty tip the waiters would not look at you. The location of the hotel is very beautiful , and the scenery breathtaking , but the hotel seems to assume , that this is enough for customers to come. Hotelrooms are nice and spacious , but worn . Many little things do not work , like the outside shower and doors get stuck. Together with the unfriendly attitude of the Raffles team this is not a holiday spot I would recommend. The general feeling at the hotel is more like a Meridien but in no way can it be compared to the Raffles Istanbul or any Asien Raffles. Very disappointing indeed. Read less

Salwa the Resort Manager runs a slick operation with a great team - a special mention to Selwyn, Shibin, Sherrin, Lee, Essam, @ spa Martin, Sunita, @ Front Office Ahmed, Grace, Cecile , Lavish @ beach Jude & Edmond. Thank you all for making our holiday amazing. The villas are lovely, spotlessly clean worthwhile paying a little extra for panoramic views. beds comfortable, bathtub views magical, day bed great but would be better with oversized cushions. Restaurants are nice and the themed evenings worthwhile. The Spa is amazing I had 3 treatments all lovely and relaxing and the complimentary Yoga each morning made my holiday. A truly wonderful holiday. Keep safe. Ceri & Huw Rpberts Read less
