Raffles Praslin, Seychelles

Seychelles, Indian Ocean

The hotel

Every little luxury has been thought of at the award-winning Raffles Praslin. It starts with the location, on the white powder sands of Anse Takamaka and just minutes from Anse Lazio, regularly voted one of the world’s best beaches. Then there’s your villa, which has a private plunge pool, an outdoor pavilion with a daybed, and even a yoga mat, easel and sketch pad for moments of pure escapism. There’s also the decadence of two infinity pools and a selection of dining, from pan-Asian to Creole. And, of course, there’s a spa — this vast haven of peace and relaxation is rather special and, with stunning views, luxurious facilities and a tranquil spa garden, it's no surprise it has been nominated for a number of prestigious awards. To top off your stay at Raffles Praslin, you'll find extra treats, like the island’s only shisha lounge, Takamaka Terrace, where you can stargaze and sip cocktails in a rooftop setting.

Positive things about the hotel - -Great location -Super clean, modern, large rooms (ours was an Ocean-view villa number 241) -Nice beach (although I would say that the best beach on Praslin is Anse Georgette which is at Constance Lemuria Resort) -Very helpful and friendly staff Things which could be improved - 1) The gym is small and a bit too basic - it needs a squat rack, deadlift platform, stairmaster and a pull-up bar / frame 2) The meal plan (we were half board) could be better explained at check-in. Essentially the a la carte at Losean and Curieuse are included but everything else is at a supplement. We figured this out after a couple of days. 3) The “lobster night” (albeit for a supplement) is not run every week. This was really disappointing for us as it was not on during our week. 4) It is clearly an ultra-5 star hotel but still it is a bit much to charge for things like filtered water at meals (even on half board). Similarly the price of things like soft drinks (£5 for a Diet Coke) and massages (£175 for a 60 min massage) does cross the line from “expensive” to “extortionate”. 5) Better selection of English language TV - essentially we could only watch Sky News and BBC News whilst there. The place is amazing. If we forget the welcoming staff and the two hours waiting time, everything was perfect. The beach is great, the resort facilities are very good, the food was good, maybe they could add a few european options. Evan the pasta was with curry

The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful and did pay attention to details and cater to needs that emerge when traveling with a 1yr and a 5yr old, from water bottles to kids toiletries. The kids club has excellent staff and list of activities to keep the kids busy. The outdoor spa is an amazing experience with excellent therapists. If I had to pick on something that one needs to consider is that there were not too many restaurants open for lunch so you do end up at the pool side restaurant for it eah day, however, on the positive, there were various theme nights for dinner. Also, it can get hot and humid and they do not have any fans, so be dressed accordingly. Overall, it was am amazing experience and would definitely recommend others to visit Raffles Praslin. Perfect hotel for couple holiday. Great hotel, great services and delicious food at the hotel restaurants - I recommend Curiouse in particular. The rooms are great, very roomy, as in the website description and very intimate. The beach is also nice despite the small size and great for snorkeling when sea is calm. Stand up paddles and kayaks are offered complementary, which is really great. The weather in February might be tricky as rain may occur at any time. We were lucky as it mosly rained during the nights. I highly recommend the hotel and we are really looking forward to returning here. Read less
