Myself, my husband & my 2 kids (2&5) stayed here for 6 nights. The hotel is beautiful with the most stunning surroundings. We stayed in a poolside room which was great, we could let my youngest sleep, whilst we sat on the terrace & watch my oldest swim. We had 2 double beds & our travel cot in the room & we still had enough space. The guys who kept the room clean was great, we loved the towel animals, the crocodile was our fav We were HB so we ate at the hotel for every meal, every meal was curry though with only a few other options outwith. Their was no kid friendly options either. We did ask the American chef to make kid food, that lasted 24 hours then back to normal. Myself & the kids survived off rice/noodles/poppadoms & hoppers. We did eat at the Thai twice and that was lovely. They made a kid friendly meal for us. For 2 starters, 3 main courses & drinks it came to 3400rp (£15) as you get 50% disc as hotel guest you just need to ask for it. If you just want normal food the menu at the bars are nice. The alcohol was cheap enough, most expensive cocktail was 1200rp (£5). Please check for Poya full moon days (public holiday once a month, no alcohol is served - get room service to stock ur mini bar day before) The water sports was great & not too expensive. We done the mangrove tour and seen lizards, monkeys, bats, birds & 2 small crocs. We also used the jet skis. The spa was lovely & relaxing, they had offer on 60 min massage & 30 min foot massage or facial for 8400rp (£36) which it’s too expensive My oldest used the kids club twice, she really enjoyed it but there wasn’t any activities (there was timetables with them but didn’t see any happen). I believe they happen in summer months but after that, nothing! There wasn’t any nighttime entertainment through the week either so after dinner it was very quiet. At the weekend there would be singers and Sri Lankan dancers. The guy dressed in the monkey mask (actual really scary) came and danced round our table (my youngest was cuddled in scared to her dad) and screamed right in my oldest face she was absolutely petrified shaking & crying, he then went round and done it again!!! We had to leave, this shouldn’t have happened he could see they were scared!! The front desk were a bit slow in sorting things. We called for 2 extra pillows when we arrived we didn’t get these til 24 hours later. Our safety deposit box jammed shut, we called at 6pm and no once came to fix to 9am when it was only a code to reset it. We really did enjoy our holiday & we would stay here again. It woulda been 5 stars but the kids food & nightly entertainment does really need improving. Read less

We stayed here for one week, a family of 2 adults and 2 children (3 and 4), with our in laws (2 more adults). While the resort is lovely, and the staff are ever helpful, the only real way to eat here is all inclusive - unless you are loaded with cash! The all inclusive however isn't very 'inclusive'. You can only eat at the one restaurant with this wrist band (you have to pay for the others if you eat there), and it is buffet style only, and only open certain hours. Breakfast doesn't open until 7am (until 10), lunch starts at 1230-3 and then dinner doesn't start until 7pm! We found this incredibly late, and our children fell asleep at the table without eating every single night we were there. You could order meals around the pool during the 3pm - 7pm time slot, but you had to pay for these, and they are on par with Australian pricing. 2 tiny ice creams costs $14 AUD. The all inclusive cocktail list is extremely limited, and doesn't include the cocktail of the day so there is no variety. We ended up having to get the boat across to buy snacks for the kids from Bentota, and keep bread in the room for them to eat sandwiches during the day. Kids club is included, but only if they are over 4. Our son is 3 and he went in with his sister, did the exact same things, played with the same teacher and kids, but we had to pay for him. The staff harassed my MIL for the final two days (because my FIL left back for England), and quite literally rang her doorbell at all times of the day and night for tips which forced her to have to keep the lock on at all times. The staff also picked my children up up and carried them away from us at mealtimes, even to the point where we couldn't see them and had to go and get them, which really made my kids feel uncomfortable and they asked us everyday "please don't let people touch me today". We know this is just a cultural thing, but we really felt like they should have asked us for more consent. We did enjoy our time, but it was a really expensive week for a primitive country, and Bentota as a city doesn't offer much to do, so plan on staying around the pool the whole time! Read less

This is our first time in Sri Lanka and this hotel the Centara Ceysands resort and Spa is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff are genuinely welcoming warm and friendly, always smiling. Our room attendant Madushanka is an amazing guy who comes in early for his shift each day to gather flowers with which he then produces incredible bed art using towels and flowers. Special mention also for two young ladies, Ishani and Apsara for constant smiling and helpfulness, I am sure they will go far. Another special mention for Christopher the executive Chef, he is an American from Maine USA, the menu and quality of the food is outstanding as are the desserts from the award winning patisserie chef. Our holiday wouldn't have been complete if we hadn't met a guy called Tissa who has been our guide and taken us to the most amazing places. We will be back. Read less

10 night stay at The Centara Ceysands Bentota . What a fabulous holiday we had! Spacious and clean, with beautiful surrounds and amenities. The staff were so friendly and helpful, all the restaurant and reception staff, just wonderful! We had full board, and were delighted by the food, we tried to stick to Sri Lankan dishes, and definitely weren't disappointed! (The fresh made omelettes in the morning were delicious, and the "hoppers" Oh my!)  We were happy with the standard room, but the suite was magnificent! There is a lovely tour operator Prasad from Asya Tours Sri Lanka (TripAdvisor). We used his services and his man Sam was like our own personal guide, nothing was too much trouble. We had a overnight trip to Kandy, a trip to the mangroves and turtle sanctuary, a day in Colombo (a train ride never to be forgotten!) and other little local trips, all wonderful ,and Sam is a font of knowledge and such a lovely man. The only thing wrong with our holiday was that we had to leave! But for sure we are already planning to come back! Thank you to everyone at The Centara Ceysands Bentota for helping make our holiday so perfect! (Did I mention the sunsets? Wow, just wow!) Read less
