Wow, just wow. What an amazing place this Hotel is. From arrival to our sad departure it was everything we could have wished for, and then some. We had room 62, which was a villa type room just one row back from the beach. When we woke each morning the sound of the sea was the first thing we heard. Bliss! The food was amazing, we have been fortunate to travel extensively over the world. Some trips have been all inclusive and a few haven’t. As an all inclusive package, you won’t get much better than the Club Dolphin. So much variety and different tastes, I can honestly say I was not disappointed with one meal. A word about the beautiful beach. The red flags were flown everyday on the beach, however as it is a public beach and no lifeguard on duty I think it is a safety precaution. I went in the sea everyday and had no problems. No undertow at all. Having said that, you will need to use some caution as you access the sea. It does slope down quite quickly but then becomes shallow again. As long as you are careful getting in you should be fine to go in the sea, and it is a great temperature. There are two pools. The main one is, I believe, the largest pool in Sri Lanka. This is the one where all the animation activities go on. There is also a quiet pool where we spent most of our time. It was just right for us. The thing that really shone for us about this Hotel was the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered was simply exceptional. From the room cleaner, to the waiters/waitresses, to the gardeners and all the bar staff and reception staff, you were all amazing. They cannot do enough for you, and they are so friendly. I have to give a special mention to Gayashan. I probably haven’t quite got his name right, but for me he was outstanding. He was usually to be found at the Cove bar by the quiet pool, but also saw him at the Aqua bar. He was so hard working and friendly too, just a really nice man. I could go on and sing the praises even more of this exceptional Hotel, but I will finish with this...If you want a fantastic Hotel with great food and great staff and perfect weather in Sri Lanka then look no further, and book this place. I am sure you won’t be disappointed 😀 Read less

The only negative was the extra you have to pay for meals -Lunch and dinner. Also in the activities book on arrival, they mention Horse riding but they do not offer it anymore. Kids play room was always locked. The other thing is that the place seems to be filled with the older generation for some reason. I guess it's great for them. Overall it was a lovely experience and my kids loved it. Read less

I don’t really know where to begin but let me first say thank you to all the great people in this resort who looked after us ‘ Chandana , the front office manager and his team made sure we settled into our rooms which were always kept clean, so thank you to Ranil : this resort is right on the beach and location is perfect like a picture postcard , the animation team is wonderful & ensure you never get bored : there is music every evening . We stayed on an all inclusive basis and loved the choice of food from breakfast to all day dining ; food was brilliant both Asian and European food , also the food is varied everyday , all the staff could not do enough for us. The resort is safe and protected with security . It has two pools of one which is a quiet one if you want to get away from noise .Also the resort is kept really clean , I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone thinking of booking it . I would like to say a big thank you to all at the al a carte team for making my daughter Reena’s birthday such a memorable one , we are already missing the place and will definitely revisit , thank you to everyone at club dolphin for looking after us I can’t remember all the names but everyone made our stay amazing. review by Sabita Read less

Our 4th visit to the hotel and still find the place just as relaxing and friendly as the first time. Nothing seems to have changed and the staff go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself and also encourage you to give feedback on anything you want to discuss. Great food in the Buffet and Waves and also had a great night at the BBQ on the beach. The staff on site are always doing something like cleaning and just generally keeping on top of the place. The only thing we found different was that the dogs and cats that usually frequented the grounds of the hotel were no longer encouraged from doing so due to complaints from certain guests. Personally we have never had an issue with any animal that came near us but good to hear there are plans in place to find a place close by were they will still be looked after. Big thanks to Chandana who ensured we managed to stay in the room we normally try to get in when visiting and also for his hospitality whilst there. Also thanks to Chaminda who was always checking how things were, Vishmi on reception, Yamuna at the quiet pool who is so friendly, Chathuranga at Waves who looked after us really well whilst eating there and not forgetting Upal who looked after the rooms on our floor. Whilst at the BBQ, which was fantastic by the way there was a guest who was clearly not happy with something, we just wanted to comment how Marasinghe dealt with the situation. It is so obvious he cares that customers are enjoying themselves and thought he dealt with the situation brilliantly. For trips, as always we use See Lanka and you usually find Nipun on the beach at some part of the day or call to the Canal Garden Restaurant that’s owned by his family. Roll on June when we return!!
