Heritance Negombo

Sri Lanka, Indian Ocean

The hotel

A barefoot stroll from the Indian Ocean, a lagoon pool curves along the lawn leading down to Negombo’s sands. It gives a view that is tirelessly intoxicating – which is why the team at Heritance Negombo also made sure you can see it from almost every guestroom, from the penthouse spa, and from their aptly named ‘See Lounge’ – whose rooftop residence guarantees spectacular sunset views. The perfect pairing for trips to Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, or for those simply after a beach holiday in a style-conscious hangout, this swanky hotel is also well-placed for experiencing the buzz of Negombo, with nearby bars and restaurants giving ample alternatives to the international ‘feasts’ of Heritance’s Bluetan restaurant and the swim-up drinks of its B-Bums pool bar.

Relaxed in and around the pool for a few hours. Good buffet and a la carte options available for dinner, reasonable price we thought. Comfortable beds and a good night's sleep left us refreshed in the morning. After a good buffet breakfast, trying dahl and milk rice, we were ready for the journey on to the Cultural Triangle. Thank you Heritance, you and your staff gave us a warm welcome to Sri Lanka. Just one slight disappointment though, had a drink in the Sea bar on the top floor, and found we couldn't see anything! Loved our couple of day pre a bit of travelling. Expected to have to wait for a room as we arrived at 8am after a long journey. But no, checked in with a nice room upgrade. Lovely pool, fab breakfast and so kind staff. Was a bit apprehensive about the room design, with the bathroom sort of in your room. But it really works. Would defo stay again. Poor Sri Lanka. They have had a lot to contend with over the last few years. Read less

Room was comfortable and clean, with free mini bar on arrival. Any minor issues that we had were dealt with promptly and efficiently. The food - though expensive for Sri Lanka - was very good! Our experience overall was also very good, but we did find the rules for “Happy Hour” in the bar (payment required within that hour!) odd and unfair as there was no info. as regards that. This occurred within a few hours of our arrival and we decided to avoid a repeat. We complained to front of house, they said they would try to sort but that food and beverage and front of house were different departments. The matter was sorted on our final bill, but we would have enjoyed our stay more had this incident not happened. Read less

This hotel was a great start to our trip. Fantastic view from the room, great service and a perfect place to rest after a 12 hour flight. The beach, pool and breakfast added to what was a brilliant room topped off by the service received throughout.

Its a cute place to visit and feels very 'authentic'. The hotel is beautiful and the interior decor is stunning. It feels like you are getting 5 star luxury for a fraction of the price. We were welcomed by friendly hotel staff who helped us with our bags and informed us of the hotel information (i.e. where the pool, restaurants etc are). When we reached our room it was small but comfortable. It had all the essentials and the bed was super comfortable. We had our own little porch out front with a table and chairs and access to the hotel grounds garden. The room had a TV with lots of channels, shower, robes, dressing table and mini bar fridge. Breakfast was complimentary with our room stay and there was a wide Sri Lankan buffet to choose from - it's very difficult to the usual breakfast buffet in the UK (as to be expected) but they have eggs, cereals and other essentials to give you the best start to your day. The pool was clean and there was a pool bar which served up drinks throughout the day, the hotel also has it's own section of beach right in front of it however the beach in general in Sri Lanka was a little dirty so we preferred the pool. Overall we had a great stay here and would visit again should we chose Sri Lanka as our holiday destination. Instagram: @journeywithuss Read less
