Here we are in the car, going through this narrow path of tall grass/bushes on both sides and we (wife & I) could not figure out where did we land up. Once we stepped out of the car and started walking down this antique pathways & ponds with steps at intervals, we reached the reception which is directly connected to a huge coconut groves-land and that is in turn linked to the beach & ocean! We were famished but there is this 1 main restaurant present and little did we know that the food and coffee served during our 5 day trip would make us smile. With filled and content bellies, we got to our room (on day 1) and were just amazed by the royal setup and feel of it. A jacuzzi with so much depth but blended with the naturality of the room and the resort and a room ceiling so high that a ladder could not help us reach it ;) The cleaniness of the room, the old meets the new school look and the size of the bath-room was so huge, we just landed up pampering ourselves and being in awe. The resort overall is a private boutique and the style of it blended with the wooden and antiques setup really gave me goosebumps because I never felt so much at ease and suddenly I started warming up to the idea of forgetting everything negative in life. The cherry on the cake is that it was just me - wife - staff. So the peace, much needed privacy (no noise pollution), quiet and friendliness of the staff (will never forget Malith + Dakshi + head chef) gave us the most needed break away from our very stressful work routines. I am focusing on the key fact that all this together made our stay in Reef Villa the best and the most memorable for us. Thank you so much for giving us our idea of a getaway anniversary trip and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Kudos to you guys and will never forget this place and the memories created. The 5 star rating does not do justice to its splendor in design, service, and above all the ambience of tranquility. Should be 6 stars. This sanctuary is a delight to all the senses with its detailed ordained furnishings , its fine gardens and fish ponds, and most of all the splendid personnel who tie it all into one perfect gift of calmness and repose. Shout out to Dino, Darkshana, and Malith for their most favorable interactions with us this past weekend. We will be back even just for the superb cuisine that rivals top restaurants in Colombo. From the moment we set foot in this hidden gem in became clear that we would have an incredible stay, the hospitality throughout our trip was phenomenal. From the owners, right down to the porters, everyone was a joy (particularly Wilma and Fred, the resident pooches). To match with this the layout and design of every inch within Reef spoke of a love and care you only get in small hotels like this. I personally love a great bathroom in a hotel, and Reefs huge shower and all enveloping stone bathtub really stood out for me. Hats of to you team, keep up the great work! Read less
