After lunch, we wanted to see the suites and it was amazing; such large well decorated rooms with carefully curated art, ornaments and furniture, it was like stepping into history. Yes, I am definitely coming here for a weekend at least. Read less

Stayed here for three nights at the end of our tour around Sri Lanka. Viewed The Reef 5 years ago and made a vow we would visit this resort at some time. Well it lived up to all our expectations and more. A truly unique & classical place, the best I have visited. Full of asian artifacts that adorn the property coupled with the splendour of the rooms that make this resort stand out against anything else. The management & staff are of the finest we have encountered and strive to make your stay a memorable one, and it was. I was presented with a surprise birthday cake specially made by the chef, it was one of the best I have tasted, but then again all his dishes were of a high standard. I wish I could remember all their names to thank them individually, nothing was too much trouble for this team. We did meet "Monica" one day on the beach, she being an elephant. Some sadness in seeing her in a captive environment, but Mr Malith the resort manager assured me she is well taken care of. There are only seven rooms and we stayed in one of the Plantation House Suites with a balcony and sea view. We did have the chance to view one of the garden rooms and found this to be splendid. Which ever room you choose it would be of similar opulence to the others at the Reef. If you like dogs you will love Wilmer & Fred two gorgeous and well behaved golden retrievers who belong to the owners. Do not miss the chance to visit this hidden jewel of Sri Lanka, you will not be disappointed. We hope to return. Read less

My family and I spent a night at the hotel and it was amazing. Beautiful room, which was really well decorated and close to the sea. The premises are well maintained and great to simply walk around. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommend a stay, either for families or couples.

My husband and I recently had 6 glorious days at Reef being looked after by friendly, efficient and gorgeous staff, eating delicious food and staying in a superb room. It feels more like a private home than a hotel and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday by the beach. Amazing!

Hiding behind wooden doors is this exclusive hotel. You wonder where your driver is taking you until those doors open and this gem unfolds. A truly magnificent hotel with only seven detached suites, this "Raj" styled gem is surrounded by water gardens filled with an abundance of fish. The coconut lawned garden has a beautiful swimming pool and jacuzzi. Five suites in the grounds has its own front door with patio and path leading on to the gardens all very private. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated with magnificent bathrooms. The food excellent and the service terrific, nothing too much trouble. Mr Malith, the Manager went out of his way to be helpful in all circumstances. If you miss this gem whilst touring Sri Lanka you will be sadly disappointed. Read less
