Went with my wife and daughter for a short stay. Incredible place, tastefully decorated, excellent service, superb food. This place is a must visit if you want to drown yourself in complete serenity. The combination of nature and a pleasing selection of decorative antiques with a calm and quiet environment just alters your state of mind. The service, specially by Dino was exceptional. Every little need was looked into. We had minor technical issues such as the tub drainage being stuck, the ceiling fan makes an irritable noise over a certain threshold and the TV being out of place, however that didn't bother us because we were there for a short stay. Just a few recommendations if this revreview makes it to the management, Please cater to your guests needs rather the guests catering to the kitchens needs when it comes to pre ordering the meal. We had to confirm our dinner order by 5.30 and we were uncomfortable As we had to rush to dinner. The room was equipped with most essential appliances except for an iron and an ironing board. When called guest services, they said that they don't provide them either. For this reason, I had to wear wrinkled clothes throughout my stay. On checkout, we had to wait for approx 10 mins until someone showed up, despite ringing the electric remote bell. Other than these little things, we had an excellent time. Thank you. Read less

The food is delicious - especially the curries - and the restaurant had perfect views to the beach. Overall a lovely quiet place to spend time at the beginning or end of a tour of Sri Lanka, or even for a long weekend from the Gulf. The only small criticism we had was that the masseur in the spa did not appear to have been professionally trained. Read less

We were warmly greeted by the hotel Manager Malith Perera followed by the hotel Owner Brendan and Bernadette and of cause by all the other staff. We always found the hotel be very inviting, welcoming, warm and friendly. We love everything about the hotel. The food was tasty and mouth watering. We felt the Chef gave personal attention to our meal and service was great by the waiting staff. We love the antiques in the hotel. Every time we visit the Sri Lanka this is one of our highlights of the trip. Thank you again for the hospitality and looking after all our requirements. We are looking forward to visiting again this year. Roshini & Michael Edwardes Read less

I think you should read carefully and think twice before coming to the hotel. our first impression was an amazing hotel. it looked beautiful a lot of details and very stylish. it was only a picture... it's amazing how they ruin our first impression. on the same night, we came. please keep in mind it is five stars hotel, which costs as 5 stars hotel, and: (1) bathroom. there is no ventilation in the bathroom at all. only a ceiling fan, that kind using in Asia. So it was difficult to breathe, and it was a big question of sanitation as well; (2) there was only one robe in the room for two people. and both slippers had a size of 38 only, while I have 43. very uncomfortable. (3) restaurant. I was surprised they asking us to preorder the food before coming to the restaurant. but after we came to have dinner it was clear they are not cooking, they just bring the food from another place. food delivery service. they served it cold to us and the food quality was the second rate. even street food in Sri Lanka has a better taste. We ordered two glasses of different red wines. they brought it chilled... hmmm.. ok. I asked to bring another with a regular temperature. after the first drink, I reduced to drink more because it was very cheap in both glasses. To be a more clear glass of wine in this place costs around USD 10 and every meal costs us approximately USD 20. it was our 5th day on Sri Lanka and we had very delicious dinners in two other 5-star hotels for USD 30-50 for two persons including drinks. (4) reception. it works up-to 10 pm as it is written onto the notice in our room. Does it suites to a 5-star hotel? I don't think so. By the way, after our check-in at 7.30 pm, I'd never seen anyone at the reception desk. (5) bed. we were badly surprised there wasn't any blanked not only on the bad but in the room at all. while nobody at reception to ask to bring us one. the building was locked. I explored how to get out and found one person from the staff. He told me that they serve with a blanket only by request! but he promised me to find one. and it looks he exactly found it, he brought unfilled blanked which had the form of the crumpled ball. (6) wifi. yes, it exists. but even situated in the main building you have only one stick. (7) location. it locates in a very strange place it was hardly found by local drivers. it is rail-road right 3 meters opposite the hotel's gate. So, you can hear how rail-road sounds from time to time inside the hotel. finally, we were very upset and decided to left this place the next morning in spite of we had a non-refundable rate.
