My wife and I stayed at this property for a week during the first half of November 2019. Here’s a quick summary of our key findings: Pros: - „Boutique“-style hotel for Dubai standards (only 90 rooms), does not cater to the masses. Didn’t feel overcrowded during our stay, despite 100% occupancy. - „Tropical“ Beach-Resort atmosphere (you will not find many of those in Dubai) - Beautiful, lush property, park-like surroundings withe lots of frangipani trees, palm trees and flowers everywhere. - High attention to detail, especially at night when you find hundreds of candles lit everywhere - Spacious, luxurious rooms with great amenities and frequent servicing throughout the day - Cool & loungy pool area with large daybeds and frequent service (cold towels, ice tea, fruit skewers, cold water, etc) - Exceptional food in all 3 outlets (make sure to book half board meal plan) - Very devoted, friendly service - Highly attentive & caring senior management, made us feel like absolute VIPs Cons: - Hotel is currently facing a large construction site at the Marina. Can be annoyingly noisy at times, even at night although operation is irregular. Note: Construction is planned to be finished by the end of 2020 - Dubai Skydiving Airport is close to hotel; on a busy day expect non-stop noise from small planes taking off and landing. - Constant lounge/deep house music played at main pool and surrounding areas which became an overkill to our ears after 2-3 days - Surprisingly many families with infants / small children which are playing at / in the main pool. Fortunately, there is an adults-only pool though, which is much smaller and very quiet but a little less sunny. - Proximity to Dubai city center is quite far (40‘ by taxi) unless you take the boat, which leaves every 30‘ or so. Not ideal if you plan to eat in the city every night or plan frequent day trips to town - Beach is ok but not for everyone (no unobstructed sea-views), water is not really inviting to swim in (looks kind of dirty and many jelly fish floating around). - Brutally expensive. Be prepared to drop 30 USD for half a glass of mediocre rosé wine... Overall comment: if you are looking for an ultra exclusive getaway from busy Dubai and are prepared to pay top dollar for a top location with remarkable service and food quality, you should consider this hotel. During the day, the hotel has a very cool, sexy feel to it (especially at the main pool), whereas at night it turns into a romantic scene from 1001 nights. - If on the other hand you seek a full-fledged beach vacation, absolute tranquility and are allergic to constant accustic stimulants (music playing all over the property, families with kids, ambient noise), this might not be 100% for you (although you also need to ask yourself if Dubai then is the right place to go). As the hotel is very family friendly, you will see kids everywhere, which can be a huge plus for certain people, yet not so much in our opinion for couples seeking a romantic and serene getaway. Nevertheless, we had a nice time here, were very well looked after and will consider coming back (once the construction has finished). On a last note, a big thank you to Mr. Moorthy - you have been a truly exceptional, generous host to us, this will not go forgotten. Read less

I felt they did not care about customers. They wanted us to be grateful, we were there. Staff seemed rushed and stressed. It did not make for a relaxing time. Plus very over priced. The food was all show no substance, who in the real world ever wants to eat foam? Just my opinion.

I actually came to this brunch over 2 years ago. I lazily allowed so much time to pass without writing the review, but I say: 'better late than never'! I actually came to this brunch over 2 years ago. I lazily allowed so much time to pass without writing the review, but I say: 'better late than never'! The dates section wouldn't allow me to go all the way back to 2017, so I had to fill it in for this year. I really enjoyed the brunch, though the restaurant was very empty, with not more than 5 tables occupied. I wondered why. Maybe because the hotel is located at the tail end of The Palm Island. I had had a lack-luster afternoon tea here about 3 years ago. I took issue with an 'Arabian' themed high tea. Somehow pistachio, hummus, date, cardamom and mint flavoured sandwiches and sweet pastries just didn't hit the right notes for me, though you could tell that they gave it a valiant effort. For this brunch though, all the dishes were bursting with flavour. It had been my son's Nanny's birthday a few days ago and I told them this when I booked the brunch, so they presented her with a complimentary slice of cheesecake, complete with a lighted candle and Happy Birthday written with chocolate on the plate. About 6 members of the staff came out clapping and singing birthday wishes to her, (to my son's glee and delight!). This was really sweet of them. Thank you very much to the staff. They were all very polite, but a waiter called Madhawa tended to loiter around us too much. He was also a little pushy, and hardly gave us space to breath! I also had an issue with being charged for bottled water. 76 dirhams for 2 small bottles of Evian and 27 dirhams for a local bottle. This was rather peculiar to me because most brunches include drinks and water, (depending on the package you pay for). We had 3 soft drinks packages. Throughout the brunch, we ordered an unlimited amount of mocktails, fruit juices and soft drinks, yet I had to pay for water seperately! This was a little ridiculous to tell you the truth. I assumed it was included in the brunch. I wish I had been told; but now I know to always ask whether water is part of the brunch package! Regardless, I would still recommend it, especially if you want to be in a quiet environment. Besides, the hotel is really beautiful, and we had an amazing view of the pool and garden area because we sat outside. Read less
