Even just for a brief visit, we received wonderful hospitality from the front of house chap, Mustafa, who kindly offered us a complimentary Arabic tea when we mentioned the weather. He explained all the restaurant options and took us to see the area where brunch is served, which is maybe the most beautiful dining space I have seen in Dubai. Definitely looking forward to the brunch! Read less

Mostafa made my visit to this very beautiful hotel that little bit more special with his warm welcome. Loved the Arabic coffee, dates and chocolates. The arch and decoration of the hotel is impressive to look at.

Having been to The Gate in March and written a review in April it's only now I am able to write a review for an extra stay we had in May for 6 nights and as always the hotel services and staff didn't disappoint so this review is mainly thanking everyone who took care of us. For fear of repeating my April review and previous reviews I will say that we have continually found The Gate to always exceed our expectations, at the entrance we were welcomed by Rizwan and Goodwill and a speedy and efficient check-in from Zaher, thank-you, it was great to see our friends Ei Ei, Samson and Katherine. Thank-you to our friends in Shanghai Chic, Chit, Ahsan, Papa, Lyndah, Gyanu, Jones and Kevin for there kindness, exceptional service and laughter and of course the amazing Asian food which we love. Thank-you to our friends in Sicilia, Albin, Louella, Ronald, Michael, Dadang and Mirza and to Chef Rafael and his team for the friendship and first class service they give us and for accommodating our special request. Thank-you to our friends in Chor Bazaar, great service from Antony, Rishab, Nithan and Joshi, we always enjoy the Thursday night buffet at Chor, great selection of tasty Indian food to choose from. In Mistral a big thank-you to Shakira, Rose, Naveed, Jhen, Sujeesh, Mary, Vivien, Singh, Gyan, Jibil, John and Deepak, as always attentive and friendly service, sadly this was to be the last time we would see Shakira as she was returning home. In Maroc thank-you to our friends Said, Sumesh, Maricar, Anne, Gideon and Marichu for there hospitality and attentive service, we can't thank Said and Sumesh enough for looking after us very well everytime we visit. In Revo Cafe, thank-you Noivin and Janet again we are well looked after by these two lovely ladies. At the pool, Ann, Abdul, Anthony, Kushal and Mohammed were attentive making sure we are well taken care of and it's very much appreciated, so thank-you. Thank-you to everyone in the Executive Lounge, George, Derrick, Patience and Laxmi for the attentive, friendly service, fun and laughter, we appreciate it very much. There have been a few changes in the Lounge since Ian Rydin took over as GM, we liked the new layout and the selection of hot/cold food in the evening and it was great to see the how many Managers and Chefs are now mingling with the guests in the evening so we are looking forward to the other improvements that will be made. Lastly we would like to say a huge thank-you to Sven for everything you do for us to make sure we have an enjoyable and pleasant stay. If you are looking for a beach hotel this isn't it. The Gate is at the edge of Dubai and not near a beach, there is a bus every hour to Riva beach club that the hotel has use of. Unfortunately the rear of the hotel overlooks the Salination Plant and there isn't a great outlook if your room is at the back, the front over looks IBN Battuta Mall. No hotel is perfect and there are more glitzy and newer hotels in Dubai but what The Gate does have in abundance is dedicated, friendly and efficient staff who make sure guests have a good time and are made to feel special this is why we continue to return time and again, our next visit is in November and we are already looking forward to it.
