The place itself looks amazing and you'll forget that you're in the UAE. However, the lack of transportation options within the complex and not-so-great food choices will have you second-guess this place.

Starting from our booking, the receptionist helping in our pre booking questions was very rude. Once we reached the hotel all precautions on Covid-19 were taken into consideration. The rooms with the view is not bad but the service is HORRIBLE!!. There is no way this is a 5* hotel service. They never pick up the calls and if they do, room service takes more than 40 mins to deliver anything to your room. The food was really bad, chicken smells very bad and it is over priced compared to the food quality. The bathroom is something else, it is full of humidity to the point that we slipped hurting ourselves when we walked in. This is only our first day and we already faced all these issues. Will keep you updated with the rest of our trip soon. Read less

Their staff needs to be taught how to be polite and courteous. Pathetic service. The pick up/ drop off service keeps you waiting for more than an hour. The staff at the reception did not even care to hear us out.

We booked this as we can not travel due to COVID, and The Cove just reopened a week before our stay from their shutdown. First, let me say the staff either tried to or did address all of our concerns but the hotel was not ready to be open after the shutdown. We felt like we were doing their shakedown for problems for them, and at $400 a night, in a 5-star hotel that is not the way it should be. We checked into a 2 bedroom villa with a swimming pool. We requested non-smoking and got a smoking room, ashtrays out, etc. When we asked why, we were told all villas are smoking, which we were never told before we arrived. Our reservation clearly stated non-smoking. The small kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, there was water all over the floor, so we called and they sent someone to check. There was a tray in the back of the refrigerator that was full of water and overflowing. We had brought drinks and some food and put them in and soon realized the refrigerator was not working. So we called again. In the interim, we noticed some lights were not working. I eventually checked the main circuit breakers and found one was off. They had turned off the power perhaps to save power, but then it took until the next day to cool down. So we had no cold drinks. Then I went to take a shower and was greeted with brown water filling the bath. Apparently even though the room was supposed to be cleaned and sanitized no one had turned any water on anywhere in the room since they closed down in March. It eventually cleared up, but it is not pleasant to have muddy water pouring over you. We also went upstairs to the 2nd bedroom bath and checked, also brown water in both sinks and the shower. Then we noticed the shower was completely clogged up and water was not draining at all. We called again and when the maintenance team came they were able to pull an old shower gel bottle with lots of hair wrapped around it from the drain. It had to have been there for some time as it looked like a small rat. We wondered how they could have cleaned the shower and not notice it was clogged up, not had anyone else ever reported it. Last we had mentioned it was our anniversary and Rotana normally will put some towel decorations and flowers on the bed to surprise your wife if you call ahead, which I did. Of course, there was nothing done. The couch and chairs are rock hard and not comfortable, the bed is comfortable however, but it is placed under the AC vent which is 6 feet long. At night due to the high humidity, it drips onto your head so we drug the bed out into the middle of the bedroom to avoid this. This is an easy fix, just put the bed against the other wall. We recognize that with very high temps (45 or so during the day) and high humidity condensation will develop at times. But after many years of this perhaps someone could place the bed so that it does not fall onto your face as you sleep. The staff kept fixing and trying to help. One manager gave us a free dinner at the one restaurant that was open as well as a small discount on the first night. So they are responsive, but this is not 5 star accommodations. We normally travel 3 months of the year and rarely stay in 5 star hotels or resorts as we are normally exploring and do not stay at the hotel. This time it was for a family get together and wanted to hang out and enjoy the time together. We are also long time customers of the Fujairah Rotana resort on the other UAE coast. We love it there, always a wonderful stay. So we expected the same at another Rotana property. We will not be back to this resort, and can not recommend it. Should anyone from Rotana doubt this review, we have photos of everything including the shower clog. Read less
