Basecamp Hotel

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

Effortlessly cool, Basecamp’s a playful take on a ski lodge, with its industrial fittings, dark colour scheme, reclaimed wood detailing, and oversized leather sofas adding a modern twist worthy of any interior design show. Social spaces include The Barn, hosting complimentary breakfasts, which opens onto the Beer Garden, where picnic tables and Adirondack chairs are the setting for craft brews, gourmet hot chocolate, games of ‘cornhole’, s’mores around the fire pits, complimentary WiFi, and seasonal communal dinners like chilli and fondue. Then there’s the Spa Deck, with its 16 seater hot tub featuring mountain views. As a ‘basecamp’, it’s geared up for winter and summer recreation – with free parking, a private beach, bike and ski kit storage, and a spot 4 minutes from Heavenly Mountain Gondola and 10 minutes from Lakeside Beach and Marina.

Ok so the pictures I saw online suckered me I'm into booking this hotel. And it wasn't cheap to stay here either. Book this spot if you plan on taking out ur own trash and leaving it outside ur room to get picked up. No one cleans your room till you check out. Need towels get them at the front desk. That's a joke. I was trying to relax being in Lake Tahoe but this dump made our stay a disaster . It was More like motel. It was tiny, the bathroom they don't refill the shampoos and conditioners and the shower curtain looks like they need to replace it is supposed to be white and at the bottom was reddish like rust . Then going to the room no telephone or controller for the tv. There was papers stating press 0 to call the from desk with what my phone!!! So if we had an issue we had to walk over all the time to the front desk . The control replacement was a joke only the channel button works we had to walk over to turn up or down the volume and turn on or off the tv. Fridge sucks don't bring food unless you plan on tossing because it will go bad. Wow don't stay keep scrolling for a different hotel. This place needs a massive upgrade. Trust me don't make the same mistake like we did staying here. Read less

Loved it so much. Definitely a stop for all who are in the area of Tahoe where you can easily access this lovely gem. Great place to eat, good prices and probably some of the best food you will get in Tahoe. Read less

We loved our stay at Basecamp. Great location, close to restaurants and beach. Also right connected with brewery with tasty beer! Although weather was smokey the hotel wasnt a bad place to be since beach and lake were closed. We hope to come back and would stay here again.

We stayed here July 16th thru the 19th. Due to covid there was no housekeeping service, no breakfast and the hottub was closed ( the hot tub I understand). The common areas of the hotel were filthy. The staircases hadn't been swept in years. The room was very rustic - not in a nice way. Our bill for three nights was 880.00 and it was… Read more

The staircases hadn't been swept in years. The room was very rustic - not in a nice way. Our bill for three nights was 880.00 and it was definitely not worth the money. Employees were all very nice and the location is convenient. However based on the physical condition of the hotel I would never consider recommending it to anyone Read less

You can't beat the location! Quick walk to Heavenly Village, Casinos, and just a few blocks from the lake - with passes to the semi-private beach. The rooms were nicely appointed. COVID restrictions have reduced or eliminated some of the perks and availability of some amenities, but still a decent value. The on-site beer garden was fun (but, again, due to COVID restrictions, you were required to buy food with your beer purchases). Great live music and pretty cool vibe. My only complaint about the property was regarding the shared spaces. The property has several rooftop decks and common spaces - all of which were labeled as amenities for the hotel. Some have fire pits, which was nice to have - to come back to the property in the evening and have a glass of wine. However, the rooftop that overlooks the beer garden is "off limits" to any outside alcohol because of the brewery's license. So, is it an amenity of the HOTEL or is it property of the brewery? There was no signage or anything that differentiated it and it is listed in all of the hotel literature as a hotel amenity. We had come back after dinner and were having a bottle of wine and cake for our friend's 50th b-day by the fire pit and we were scolded by a brewery employee for violating the "rules". We were prepared to leave, but she said we could stay if we paid corkage fee... which felt kind of like a shakedown, but we paid it so we could stay. Not a big deal overall, but I personally don't like being treated like some scofflaw for utilizing an area I thought was an amenity of the HOTEL. Read less
