Basecamp Hotel

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

Effortlessly cool, Basecamp’s a playful take on a ski lodge, with its industrial fittings, dark colour scheme, reclaimed wood detailing, and oversized leather sofas adding a modern twist worthy of any interior design show. Social spaces include The Barn, hosting complimentary breakfasts, which opens onto the Beer Garden, where picnic tables and Adirondack chairs are the setting for craft brews, gourmet hot chocolate, games of ‘cornhole’, s’mores around the fire pits, complimentary WiFi, and seasonal communal dinners like chilli and fondue. Then there’s the Spa Deck, with its 16 seater hot tub featuring mountain views. As a ‘basecamp’, it’s geared up for winter and summer recreation – with free parking, a private beach, bike and ski kit storage, and a spot 4 minutes from Heavenly Mountain Gondola and 10 minutes from Lakeside Beach and Marina.

Stayed for just one night at Base Camp. Wish we had more time to enjoy the property. Super cute and trendy. For an older remodeled hotel, our room was big and spacious. Bed and pillows were comfortable for us. Close to the lake so we could walk. COVID put a damper on things but I'm always happy when there is free morning coffee. :)

Enjoyed our stay here. Convenient location, dog friendly, and brewery on site with live music. Only downside was that the hot tub wasn’t open, but this was only due to COVID, so that’s not their fault. Easy check in/check out. Would recommend to others!

The beds are comfortable and she gave us what we needed two beds and a balcony the only issue was the lights turning on and off in the bathrooms and the lights on one of the lamps turned off. Other than that it was a good

The photos online looked super cute, nice and clean, but different! Well, it was different all right! One of the dirtiest properties we’ve ever stayed at in our travels! The photos online looked super cute, nice and clean, but different! Well, it was different all right! One of the dirtiest properties we’ve ever stayed at in our travels! Trash littered the stairs and parking lot. The hallways smelled like pee, as did one of the beds. Bunk beds were dusty. Room smelled like wet dog when we checked in, but I think we got used to it. All the ice machines were unavailable during fall/winter, but it’s June? No AC and the ceiling fan made this hideous noise, so we couldn’t sleep with it on at night. Way overpriced at $2/00/night. If I’d wanted to go camping, we would’ve brought our own tent and could’ve saved $160! I thought we’d paid for a nice hotel room. Sadly disappointed! Don’t recommend! Would not waste my money at another Base camp! The only cool thing about it was the coffee. Comes in its own little filter package. Super cute, but that doesn’t make up for all that was wrong with this place! Read less
