Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

Newly renovated to a rock and roll standard, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Resort is ideally placed in South Lake Tahoe to take advantage of just about everything! As well as a casino with slot machines and table games, it’s home to the largest outdoor pool in the area. Bag yourself a lounger, there’s plenty of them, and order a cool cocktail from the bar, soaking up the relaxed vibe. All the rooms are well equipped and spacious and there’s even an Elvis Suite. Yep, the great man himself stayed here whilst performing in the town in the 1970s and Hard Rock have come along and paid homage to that fact – as is only right! Other delights include the Park Prime Steakhouse, often home to live music and the Fire Break Kitchen & Bar. Center Bar is another place where live concerts are often held, full of cool blues and dramatic blacks; it’s a great place to while away an uber cool evening. Open 24/7 is The Oyster Bar, the first-ever raw seafood bar of its kind on the South Shore – chow down on fresh seasonal oysters as well as American classics such as gumbo, jambalaya and pan roasts. When you can tear yourself away from the hotel, the hiking trails are some of the most beautiful in the world – explore them on foot or reception will hire you a bike.

If you’re heading to South Lake Tahoe and staying in a casino hotel I recommend the Hard Rock as it’s the cleanest casino layout. Room was a good size, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I would advise you to check the resort fee added to the advertised room rate so you don’t get sticker shock when checking out.

There seems to be a full spectrum of reviews for the hotel and I can understand why. For us the experience was just fine. The location is okay - a short walk from the nicer area of heavenly. The bed was comfy & generally room all good, however there isn't a fridge in the room. As with several other reviews, dont understand the resort fee, seems… Read more

The bed was comfy & generally room all good, however there isn't a fridge in the room. As with several other reviews, dont understand the resort fee, seems excessive and unnecessary, considering the lack of facilities (e.g. $4 per bottle of water in room, no towels by pool, tiny gym) Read less

Stopped by the Center Bar had a couple of nice chats Erin our bartender. It was a slow day so we talked for quite a while. He told us to stop back by in the morning after 8 am and he would make us his special Bloody Mary. Well, we did and they were excellent. So good, in fact, my wife and I had 2 a piece. Erin is a very nice guy and a great… Read more

Well, there isn't individual room a/c or heat... the old hotel relies on the 70's era hot/cold water pumps. This means in the winter, there is plenty of heat in your room.. and in the summer, you open the window/door for the cool mountain air. This means in the winter, there is plenty of heat in your room.. and in the summer, you open the window/door for the cool mountain air. We just stayed there and opened the door to our balcony while sleeping only to be awakened by a maintenance man operating a very loud LEAF BLOWER...at 2:30 AM! He was blowing the entire back parking lot...at 2:30AM! I called to complain...they said they would call 'security'...at 2:30AM! Nothing happened...closed the door...was hot all night with no air and little sleep. These guys are OUT TO LUNCH. Will not return. Read less

I was taken aback by the appearance of this place, it doesn't look like a happening place in Lake Tahoe, kind of run down. Parking was a breeze and after a long wait at check in, the fellow who helped me was a real professional. I was given a room in the Sunset tower and it was a delight. Very clean, modern and quiet. Reviews I had read had issues… Read more

Parking was a breeze and after a long wait at check in, the fellow who helped me was a real professional. I was given a room in the Sunset tower and it was a delight. Very clean, modern and quiet. Reviews I had read had issues with the ac/heating and I was advised to turn off the system at bedtime, as to avoid waking up too hot. It was late April, not too hot or cold... I was very comfortable.
