Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

Newly renovated to a rock and roll standard, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Resort is ideally placed in South Lake Tahoe to take advantage of just about everything! As well as a casino with slot machines and table games, it’s home to the largest outdoor pool in the area. Bag yourself a lounger, there’s plenty of them, and order a cool cocktail from the bar, soaking up the relaxed vibe. All the rooms are well equipped and spacious and there’s even an Elvis Suite. Yep, the great man himself stayed here whilst performing in the town in the 1970s and Hard Rock have come along and paid homage to that fact – as is only right! Other delights include the Park Prime Steakhouse, often home to live music and the Fire Break Kitchen & Bar. Center Bar is another place where live concerts are often held, full of cool blues and dramatic blacks; it’s a great place to while away an uber cool evening. Open 24/7 is The Oyster Bar, the first-ever raw seafood bar of its kind on the South Shore – chow down on fresh seasonal oysters as well as American classics such as gumbo, jambalaya and pan roasts. When you can tear yourself away from the hotel, the hiking trails are some of the most beautiful in the world – explore them on foot or reception will hire you a bike.

This is not a safe hotel to stay in. During my trip while I was naked blow drying my hair and employee entered my room.. I yelled and he ran out. Yes, I had a do not disturb sign on my door. After sitting for 30..yes 30 minutes on the phone to talk to security all I got was a “oh... sorry”. Seriously!? I wanted to know who entered my room and WHY!… Read more

After sitting for 30..yes 30 minutes on the phone to talk to security all I got was a “oh... sorry”. Seriously!? I wanted to know who entered my room and WHY! After voicing how unsafe that made me feel they promised to talk to security and get back to me ASAP. Of course, I NEVER heard back. I had to reach out again for answers and simply got a “it happens, it was an accident we assure you it will not happen again.” No care, I should have called the cops but was totally spooked by the whole accident. In hindsight, I wish I did call the cops. So since it “happens” I would be careful if you decide to stay here. Read less

If you’ve ever stayed at a REAL Hard Rock property I’m sure you were as impressed and we were......well, this isn’t one of those. This is an old run down former hotel that they’ve taken over. If you’ve ever stayed at a REAL Hard Rock property I’m sure you were as impressed and we were......well, this isn’t one of those. This is an old run down former hotel that they’ve taken over. The only thing it has in common with their other properties is the name on the building. Very understaffed and not very friendly or helpful. A/C wasn’t keeping the gaming floor comfortable. Our room was overpriced for the accommodation. The bathroom sink wouldn’t drain and after 3 calls to maintenance and a few hours later, finally got it working. Due to Covid, no valet parking, no maid service, no room service and the pool midday was shut down. Of course the prices aren’t adjusted for this....you just pay more for less! After complaining to the manager for quite some time he RELUCTANTLY gave us half off first night and took off resort fees. We ended up canceling the rest of our stay. If you really want a first class experience I would suggest Harrahs. Read less

A Front desk Agent named Scott was rude at check in. I asked for a room Away because of my 9 months old, which did not accommodate but the smart agent provided a room way from elevator from another person away from elevator. Jessica was nice but she still didn’t accommodate our request not because because she couldn’t but to honor her colleague’s… Read more

I strongly do not recommend you stay at this hotel. The hallways, elevators and bedrooms are old and tattered. When we got into our room, the drawer next to bed was open, we soon found out that it’s because it didn’t shut, not because someone accidentally left it open. I strongly do not recommend you stay at this hotel. The hallways, elevators and bedrooms are old and tattered. When we got into our room, the drawer next to bed was open, we soon found out that it’s because it didn’t shut, not because someone accidentally left it open. The shower had mold in the grout and the wallpaper was peeling. The rooms are very small and you can hear everything from the hall all night long. My kids would joke the elevator was going to break every time we had to use it. Overall the grounds are extremely not well taken care of. They charge a resort fee but essentially offer no true “resort” amenities. Completely over priced - not worth the money. We will not return. I wish I had read these reviews before booking. Read less
