Hotel Becket

Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

The hotel

Part boutique hotel, part ‘upcycled’ lodge, 968 Park Hotel’s every bit as rustic as it is luxurious. Handmade furniture fills the guestrooms – some made from Douglas fir rescued from an old Nevada mine. Your bedding’s anything but homespun though, with luxury mattresses and organic linens helping ease muscles tired from winter sports like skiing and snowshoeing, or from laps of the heated pool in summer. You get complimentary parking (and WiFi), but it’s just minutes’ walk from Lake Tahoe’s biggest draws: Heavenly Mountain Gondola, the Stateline casinos, and the shoreline. Whatever time you return, the CoffeePub will be open, with craft coffees or microbrews served 24-hours a day; but make sure you’re back in time for Friday night’s wine tastings with local vintners, followed by live acoustic music sessions.

There were only two good things about this hotel: the location and the staff. The hotel was dirty and dark. The stairs going to the second floor were not lighted in the evening, the room was very dirty, the carpet was old and stained and it didn't look at all like the rooms in the web site. The stairs going to the second floor were not lighted in the evening, the room was very dirty, the carpet was old and stained and it didn't look at all like the rooms in the web site. There were light fixtures that didn't work and that was "fixed " by adding a cord extension through the floor of the room and then covering the cord with black tape. A very real tripping hazard. The pool was unusable, it had a greasy sheen on top of the water and the lounge chairs were dusty and unkempt. Parking was reasonable and the beds were not too bad, but that is not enough to compensate for the disappointment we felt about the place. We ended up only going back to sleep there as there was nothing pleasant about the accommodations. We will not be back to that hotel and absolutely won't recommend it to anybody. Read less

From pictures online I was so excited to stay at this place and initially upon arrival I thought I got a great spot but soon I realized I had made a mistake. The check in was painful and staff seemed frazzled. Then I realized I wasn't given one of the newer rooms in the front but had a room in its old building in the back by the back alley. The building was old and dingy. Rooms were depressing and dirty. We also didn't have any towels. We ended up wiping down the room ourselves because we didn't trust the place. Lots of dogs barking and loud teenagers in the middle of the night. Garbages were overflowing by our exit. Worse part we had to walk by their laundry rooms w all the dirty sheets and funky smells. Would NEVER stay here again Read less

Dirty & over priced! Thinking Wyndham had the same standards for all of their properties I thought we would be staying in a nice hotel, clearly I was wrong. The rest of the property was also un maintained, the chairs in the lobby have seen better days and the grounds need a good power washing or even just trash pick up.

Location is good. Parking is horrible. Will stay elsewhere next time. Remodeled Travelodge, so Model 6 feel. The bed was comfortable, but we booked through a travel website and was upgraded to the room in the corner next to the maintenance room.
