If I could give this place a BIG HALF STAR I WOULD!! I don't even know where to start with why I will not be returning to this location. I wouldn't even dare to call it a Resort, there are no amenities, and yes I know were in a pandemic, but really there was nothing that even looked like something a resort would have. Let's start with the breakfast - powdered eggs, bacon, patty sausage and fruit. Never any other options offered for breakfast. Seriously how is that an option? But I must say the WORST thing was when a colleagues room was flooded and she was asked to return to her room the next day without the room being cleaned, sanitized or should I say the lack there of when it came to cleaning. Just making the bed is not cleaning. We all know that. I purchased my own cleaning products to give my room a good scrubbing. I will never recommend this location to anyone, they will be disappointed. And Yes, I was there for work, but again I would not recommend this location for any reason moving forward. Read less

Wife and I had never skied Heavenly, and both having been vaccinated felt it was safer for us to travel. Three days of blue sky and excellent spring skiing. The hotel is about a 5 min. stroll to the Heavenly gondola, Heavenly Village with many restaurants and yards from the Nevada state border and its casinos. Our stay was in room 312. The staff is excellent, friendly and efficient. When we ran out of coffee for the in-room coffee maker I asked at the front desk for more and in less than 10 min. someone was at the door with the coffee. After we entered the room we saw that the safe was left locked by the previous occupants. We arrived on a Sunday, so there was no one available to unlock it until the next day, which was fine. The room we found clean, and spacious, with a door between the bedroom with a sink and the living area. There was the aforementioned coffee or tea maker, another sink, a microwave and a small fridge. Due to health regs, dealing with containing the spread of C-19 breakfast needed to be taken back to the room. Choices were scrambled eggs, pancakes, sometimes bacon, sometimes sausages, biscuit, yogurt and choice of Fruit Loops or granola, juice and coffee or tea. We are not big breakfast eaters, so the yogurt and granola was our fare. Also, due to C-19 the fitness center, pool and hot tub remained closed. I received conflicting communications from the hotel, one stating that they were now open, another that they were not. However, next door at the Marriott the pools and hot tubs they were open. When I received the bill, I noticed that there was a $34 fee for "resort fee". While waiting for the airport transfer I asked the individual at the front desk why was there a "resort fee" when the "resort" part of the hotel was not open. I was informed that the fee "has been reduced to their bare minimum, and it includes the ski storage (which is not needed as the equipment can be kept in the room), wifi (which is advertised as free unless you want faster speed for which there is a charge), breakfast (which again is advertised as part of the room cost). This practice I find deceitful, just add the $34 to the room cost if the hotel needs it to remain profitable rather than listing a $97/day hotel fee and then hit you with the additional fee. $131 + taxes per day is just a few $$$ less than what I was quoted for a stay at the Marriott next door which is right next door to the gondola, and whose pools and hot tubs were open, but no breakfast included, but the Marriott advertises rooms with fridges and coffee makers. There is a grocery store, Raley's, about a 5 min. walk from the Marriott and just a bit longer from the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. My advice is to look carefully at the "real" cost of your stay. Arrived to discover the fitness center is closed. The pool is closed (despite receiving a welcome email from the hotel just five days before check-in stating "after breakfast you might consider a trip to our Pool"). There is no housekeeping. Ok fine, it's a pandemic. We walked down to the restaurant at 530pm to be met by a listing of their hours 5pm-9pm and a CLOSED sign. Walked back to the check-in desk to ask about this and learned "they just changed their hours" to only be open Thurs-Sun (my stay was Mon-Fri). Frustrated I said "why am I paying a $34/day resort fee??" and the hostess lamely said "you still get breakfast. ....And the wifi." Ah yes, the 3Mbps free wifi (upgrade for $15/day if you want to stream anything) that at least supports "basic web browsing" so I can write this review. And speaking of streaming, don't expect a smart TV for Netflix or anything else, and if you thought of bringing a kid's gaming system (you know, because this place advertises itself to be great for families with the suite layout) forget about that too since the janky hotel tv remote doesn't allow you to change inputs. The breakfast is actually decent, however you do have to wait in line and if you're too late that line could take you a good 25 minutes to get your food, which you then have to take back to your room. And call down if you want them to pick up the trash because, again, no housekeeping. At least now it's Thursday and the restaurant is open. For take-out only. And of course gratuity is automatically added for take-out orders. Kind of them to figure that in for you. Lastly, if you wanted to valet that's another $27/day. Stay elsewhere friends. This place is not worth it. Read less

I have a medical disability and own 2 service dogs. My husband and I traveled to the hotel which we have stayed multiple times before to visit our son at the Lake Tahoe Resort. Before booking the hotel we saw on their website it says No Pets Allowed but service dogs welcome. We booked the hotel. When we arrived with our two service dogs we presented them with all the documentation and ID’s. Never once the whole visit did we have any issues until the morning we left. My husband had taken the dogs out to relieve themselves and Adam the manager confronted him and said we have a NO PET policy. Clearly they had their best on and my husband explained they our service dogs and gave him the room number. A week later I notice a $285 charge on my bank card. I called the hotel and asked what was this for and Adam explained for a pet fee since dogs were not allowed. I went through the whole thing with him explaining about them being service dogs and what help they do for me and all I got from him was I have to talk to my general manager. 2 days go by and I get a call back from Adam telling me I’ll have to wait until next week to speak with the GM but he can already tell me that I will not be refunded as he did not believe my dogs were service dogs. Saying this without even meeting me or our dogs. Also the fact that we checked in with them with documentation and were allowed to stay there for 3 nights. Not only till we left and 5 days later find out they changed there mind. Adam was extremely rude and condescending. He has done nothing but add stress onto an already stressful situation. Travel is not the easiest for me. Basically he decided on his own without meeting us that we were not legitimate. My attorney now has gotten involved to rectify this situation. It is not about the money at this point it is the principle of the matter that their are laws put into place for us with disabilities and Adam has broken that law. This hotel I believe needs to educate their employees better and also educate them on empathy with families with disabilities. Read less

The first night we stayed we reported loud music (and screaming voices nearby our room) to the front desk around 2am after we had already been up since midnight hoping our neighbors would be going to bed soon. This did not happen, so we notified the front desk around 2:00am. After two phone calls to the front desk, the noise continued until around 3:30am. The security guard was finally able to get it to cease. The next morning, we spoke with the front desk regarding the issue and potentially moving our room. The front desk manager suggested we wait it out (as the hotel was going down to only 4% occupancy for the rest of our stay) and it would not be likely another guest would be roomed near us. We were also told that our issues were noted at the front desk so that no one would be roomed near us. So, we remained optimistic and stayed in our room for the second night…again hearing loud voices yelling throughout the wee hours of the morning as well as loud voices during our time in the room during the morning. Again, we spoke to the front desk who said those guests were checking out and deterred from moving our room yet again. This morning (the 5th morning of our stay), as we were eating breakfast in our room, we could hear a very loud television in the room next door. I immediately called down the front desk manager again (who was fully aware of the noise issues we had previously experienced). Although the hotel was running at 4% occupancy and there were MANY other rooms down the same hall that could have been assigned, the room next to us was assigned. After a long discussion about the noise issues we previously experienced, the front desk manager offered no customer service to resolve the issue. My husband and I have travelled the world, customer service is key in the hospitality business. I would NOT recommend (nor would I stay here again) the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. The front door closest to the Gondola is only open as an exit, making it a terrible inconvenience to walk around to the side of the hotel after returning from skiing all day. I asked about this and the hotel had no interest in accommodating us. In addition, the $34/night resort fee includes use of the Pool/hot tub (which are CLOSED), the fitness center (which is CLOSED), a newspaper (which we never received at any time during our stay), ski storage (which is generally unattended and we have had to wait every day for someone to get our skis out) and phone calls (the telephones in our room didn’t even have a dial tone). I have asked about allowing guests to make reservations for the hot tub (the Marriott next door is doing this) and the hotel was not receptive to discussion. I understand there are some restrictions due to COVID-19, but the hotel shouldn’t be allowed to charge a resort fee for services they are not even offering. We have been here 5 nights of our 7-night stay and have had the exact same fake scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, strawberry yogurt breakfast every. Single. day. Would NOT RECOMMEND. Read less
