We've enjoyed the hiking trails directly behind our tower. Sadly, I would only return here if there were no other options in the area. I'd rather have a smaller slightly dated suite if I knew it was clean. Upon arrival - a used Kleenex under the table at the side of the bed (almost impossible not to see it), previous guest must have had long dark hair because it was still on the bathroom floor. Breakfast bar not cleaned, you could see the stains. On check-in you have an option for zero cleaning, mid-week cleaning with replacement towels only, or mid-week cleaning with replacement towels and bedding. We opted for the latter. Yesterday was cleaning day. Trash emptied, clean towels and bedding. That's it. Zero additional cleaning. No vacuuming. Used Kleenex still under the table. Hair still on the bathroom floor. Not even the crumbs around the toaster were cleaned (which in our haste to leave for a scheduled trip I'd not wiped myself). Oh, but whoever was in our room took a $1 bill from my son's nightstand. Believe me, a teen boy's nightstand is not an empty space, it was clear it wasn't a cleaning tip. On the plus side, because of Covid I'd packed my own cleaning supplies, which have been used, a LOT. 18 year owners this was our week. Check in took forever due to the front desk staff spending more time trying to sign people up for presentations than getting you checked in. Upon entering room inspected the sheets and both beds were covered in hair and liquid spots, Housekeeping would not answer the phone had to contact the manager to get sheets changed took 4 hours. The stereo, deck table and cooking utensils that have always been there before were missing. Called the manager for the BBQ utensils and was informed all BBQ's were disconnected and not allowed due to covid mandate. Looked into this mandate and its only public BBQ's not private on your own deck ! The bathrooms had 2 towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper in each and we had 6 people for a week. No answer from housekeeping so we went and found the cart with clean towels and bought TP. We found dirty diapers in or room from someone before us that had not been found by housekeeping. One pool was closed due to covid but the other was open with half the chairs. This does not make sense. The patio chairs were falling apart and when sitting on them the bottom would break. I learned from staff the chairs had been left out through the winter and would now have to be replaced. The market which has always been open every day is now closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Every year in the past you would see some kind of improvement or building maintenance going on. On this trip there was none and our building looked run down and $1000 a year maintenance this is concerning. There was minimal staff through out the week and we saw many people arguing and yelling at the manager. To sum it up this resort looks and feels like it is on the verge of BK. There is no feedback from the owners on its website but the owners should organize before making any more maintenance fee payments and get a plan. Read less

Believe me, I was a bit skeptical returning to the Ridge after I read some horrible reviews. Prior to our arrival, I called to confirm our reservation and to request a unit that would include a washer/dryer. It did take me three attempts, until I finally spoke to someone. Either they left me on hold or hung up on me. Check-in was surprisingly quick. The Ridge took all precautionary measures and gave me all the needed information. We stayed at the Plaza building, third level, where it was extremely clean and comfortable. The 2 bdrm. unit that I reserved from Interval International had a washer/dryer as requested and fans for the bedrooms. There was plenty of parking, even though it was the 4th of July week. The hiking trails behind the tennis courts were amazing. During the week, we grilled twice, while our girls played tennis, at the indoor courts. We didn't use the blue shuttle, only because we spent most of our time at the Lake. Overall, it was a great stay. If there would any suggestions, it would be to give a bit more training to the reservationist on customer service skills, so they can answer calls accordingly. Read less

From reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, we didn't expect much but we were desperate to get in our car and take a road trio. We booked a studio for a week , but unfortunately our low expectation were confirmed and we left early. We had a studio in the Tower Building and when I called to ask about the "kitchenette" I was told that the studios in that building had a cooktop as well as a microwave and refrigerator. Our unit had NO cooktop and we were told that we were not eligible to be assigned to a unit with a cooktop, even though they had plenty of availability. This would not have been a problem if we had been told that in advance, but we had brought food that needed cooking in order to avoid restaurants during COVID. Ended up eating a lot of sandwiches and throwing away a lot of the food we had brought. The resort itself is in a nice location but is unremittingly ugly with bad architecture and has not withstood the test of time. The room itself was pleasant and looked to have been recently redecorated. There is NO air conditioning and only two of the four windows in our room were operable. Also, very few units have balconies. They did seem to take seriously the need for sanitary cleaning and wearing masks. Unfortunately that did not seem to be the case in the towns and beaches that surrounded Lake Tahoe. Large crowds and little mask use convinced us to limit our activities to outdoor locations away from the crowds. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful destination but we will not return to this timeshare. Though it pains me to write this, my experience hosting my wedding at The Ridge Tahoe was substandard. I am a planner and spent a significant amount of time ensuring that the details for myself and my guests was handled properly. During the night of my wedding I was erroneously charged for beverages which amounted to nearly $2000. It took the venue nearly 7 days to refund all the charges. Then 3 months after the conclusion of my wedding my aunt reached out to me and stated that her credit card had been charged by the Ridge with no one from the ridge reaching out to her. This has since happened to two of my other guests that I know of in some cases 4 months after the event. The Ridge was undergoing a change in management at the time as it was purchased by the Holiday Inn Group. I was told at the time that it was just a new system that caused all the erroneous charges but since this has continued to happen to my party members it has become clear that the management team has failed to run a hotel in a professional manner. I completely understand that mistakes happen and that there may have been errors in card processing; that being said it is incumbent on the establishment to ensure that its procedures are completed properly and charging guests 4 months after a stay when that guest was given a final bill is completely unprofessional and some may say criminal.
