Though it pains me to write this, my experience hosting my wedding at The Ridge Tahoe was substandard. I am a planner and spent a significant amount of time ensuring that the details for myself and my guests was handled properly. During the night of my wedding I was erroneously charged for beverages which amounted to nearly $2000. It took the venue nearly 7 days to refund all the charges. Then 3 months after the conclusion of my wedding my aunt reached out to me and stated that her credit card had been charged by the Ridge with no one from the ridge reaching out to her. This has since happened to two of my other guests that I know of in some cases 4 months after the event. The Ridge was undergoing a change in management at the time as it was purchased by the Holiday Inn Group. I was told at the time that it was just a new system that caused all the erroneous charges but since this has continued to happen to my party members it has become clear that the management team has failed to run a hotel in a professional manner. I completely understand that mistakes happen and that there may have been errors in card processing; that being said it is incumbent on the establishment to ensure that its procedures are completed properly and charging guests 4 months after a stay when that guest was given a final bill is completely unprofessional and some may say criminal. They said it was due to the credit system making an error and not charging me the full amount at booking which was 6 months prior to my stay. Nothing was said at check in. At check out they tried to tack on additional fees that were not part if my original booking and after some back and forth they removed them. When I called about the charges I was told that's they wouldn't reverse the charges and when I explained that it was poor customer service, I was told this isn't how they do business, but it was exactly how they were. When we arrived just after lunch we thought we could get lunch at a restaurant but all were closed so we ended up buying overpriced groceries from the gift shop. I'm glad I got to enjoy a beautiful wedding but was not impressed with the rest of the staff and resort. Read less

My husband and I enjoyed a week of skiing, staying at The Ridge . We chose The Ridge for the Skier Express. It was really convenient to access the Stagecoach lift. This made our ski days easy to ski in and out. We arrived on a Tuesday night, check in was easy. Lisa at the front desk was welcoming, and gracious. We had requested a suite in The Tower, but they hadn't been able to place us there when we arrived. However, Lisa helped us to connect with the reservation team and they were able to move us from the Terrace to the Tower the next day. The Tower is right across the road from the Skier Express and it was the perfect location. In both buildings we were in 1 bedroom suites. Both were comfortably furnished and clean with well appointed kitchen, spacious living area with fireplace. I would have given a 4 star rating but there are a few things that aren't quite at that level. The restaurant was not open, the outdoor hot tubs at the Ridge Club and The Tower were not functioning...(this prior to Covid 19 warnings), the resort did not provide maid service during our stay. It would have been nice to have a local restaurant option without having to drive downhill to South Lake Tahoe village. We would have loved to use a hot tub after skiing all day. It would have been nice to have maid service a few times during our 1 week stay. If The Ridge could make these few corrections, I'd comfortably give the resort 4 stars. Hopefully things will get up and running under this new ownership. Read less

Disappointed with our recent stay! The new management at this property has a lot of work to do. First of all, the check in was a nightmare, waited in line for over an hour. Then to get my parking pass, I had to talk to a timeshare salesperson trying to rope me into a presentation. As an owner, in the past we avoided any line and picked up our keys to go to our unit. Not the case with the holiday inn in charge! After waiting for over an hour to get our room, we arrived to find it covered in dog hair and other filth. I didn't know what to do. It was late, I had two hungry kids with me so I decided if we could at least get clean sheets we could figure out the rest in the morning. I had housekeeping come and change the dog hair covered sheets in both bedrooms. As I was wiping up their wet boot prints in the entryway I noticed I was picking up gobs of dog hair as well from the floor. Also the banana bread my kids look forward to was not in the room upon arrival despite the front desk confirming for me that that part had not changed. The humidifier was disgusting, we cleaned that so we could use it and did some cleaning and in general before heading to bed. When we woke up, the kids called me to the balcony to show me dog poop and pee. I called to the front desk for assistance and asked for the manager to return my call. 30 minutes later when the phone rang, I took the call assuming it was the manager. It was a representative from Holiday Inn who was again trying to sell me on presentation, insisting I would need to know about all of the changes before I booked my next stay. Unfortunately, they would require that I take my husband and I kept explaining to the gentleman that we were here with our kids to go skiing and be together not to attend timeshare presentations. After being bullied by this person and still not receiving a callback from the manager, I walked down to the clubhouse to wait to speak to her in person. Lisa, saw me and understood how frustrating it must have been to check in to a filthy unit with health and safety standards that were in question. She said they would have someone come to clean the unit the next day while we were skiing free of charge top to bottom then sent someone to clean up the feces and urine that day. She also gave me a $75 credit to the bistro. I appreciated her effort to resolve the matter. Unfortunately, housekeepings idea of a "deep clean" was less than ideal. The same dust crusted mirror we left that morning was waiting for us when we returned as a perfect example of the lack of attention to detail. As our week went on we discovered other fun surprises like, when washing our ski gear to use again the washer would not drain. The gentleman who came to fix that found months worth of lint and debris including golf tees. He cleared the clog but left water all over the laundry room floor for us to presumably clean up for him? Several lightbulbs in our unit were burnt out upon check-in, the master bathrooms second bulb burnt out leaving us completely in the dark until someone could come and fix that as well. We went outside to build a snowman with the kids on the balcony, thinking the feces and urine was picked up however we discovered more. We called for someone to come and take care of it however unlike the previous person who used a shovel and a bucket this guy showed up with a dustpan and literally started whacking at the partially frozen poop spreading it all over the balcony and then using one of our children's snowman parts to "cover up" the toxic zone. The spread of feces everywhere made us less than comfortable letting the children out to play any further during our trip. This is one of their favorite things to do here. They were very upset to see their snowman disembodied along with the fact that they were no longer able to play out there. I had asked Lisa for some paperwork and for reimbursement on our week as it was such a nightmare on 1/26/20. To this date, I haven't received my documents or a credit for my stay. I have sent several emails and left two voicemails. Read less
