We have been coming to this resort for many years and if it wasn't for the wonderful amenities, we would have stopped due to the front desk treatment. Consistently calling prior to vacations to confirm rooms does absolutely no good year after year. This particular vacation had a power outage, which was nothing new, but had key card issues to where no one was issued a room key. So every guest was required to call security to hear ' it'll be a while' before being allowed back into their rooms sometimes waiting upwards of 20 minutes with no apology.-each time you needed to get back in! I booked this hotel as a "same day reservation" and contacted the resort to inform about our special occasion. It was my birthday weekend and my friends & family cancelled their trip to visit us for a party that we had been planning for two months. I booked this hotel room on Friday oct 11 at 1AM and wrote an e-mail to Concierge to inform that it will be our first trip with our baby daughter (16 months). Hailey with concierge reached out to Assistant Resort Manager Nina and Nina personally contacted me via e-mail. After 7 hours of drive we reached the resort at around 9 pm and Aimee (I hope this is the correct spelling - She is from the Philippines) checked us in. She was very politely and explained some of the highlighted resort amenities. She also surprised us by handing $60 F&B voucher per Nina. What truly surprised us that she did not mention that Nina gave us an upgrade to a One Bedroom Terrace Suite until we walked into our room. What a pleasing surprise !!! It was a huge suite with full kitchen, balcony, great view, upgraded amenity ..( i cant go on and on). Thank you Nina to truly "Turn our moment into Memories". We will stay only at Ridge Resort whenever we will visit Lake Tahoe. We are coming soon and I will spread the word across my friends and family to stay at Ridge Tahoe if they visit South Lake Tahoe. I have traded into the Rdige Resort numerous times over the last 30 years and am never disappointed. I especially like the tennis program and the great tennis pro, Adam. They have lots of activities and most of them are free. We arrive at the resort, park the car, and don't get back into the car until it is time to go home

The resort sits 7600 ft plus on a mountain about 7 miles above South Lake Tahoe (we had snow on Sept. 16), and there is no flat surface - everything is on a hill. Their computer system was "down" when we checked in on Sept. 14 and the check-in line took at least an hour. We tried for an upgrade from our "hotel" unit and were told that only the manager could do this (she was not available during check-in). Registration sends you over to the "sales" designee who tries to sign you up for a 90-minute tour. We've been on several of these tours and find none of them last 90 minutes so we passed. All week we saw people being shuffled around the resort by a salespeople. I should also mention that we stumbled into this area one morning where 15 to 20 timeshare salespeople had offices. The resort is at least 20 years old so we were surprised by the push to keep selling units. We were disappointed that we had a 7-mile commute down the mountain to South Lake Tahoe. If you like to "get away from it all", then maybe this is the place for you. On the plus side, we finally got a larger unit after several visits to the registration area, which made our stay more enjoyable. However, we have no intention to go back. Read less

Unfortunately the view was underwhelming (overlooking the entrance, parking and surrounds) but the room was spacious. One downside is the workers do not understand English whatsoever which makes it hard to communicate. The Ridge is about a 10 minute drive from Lake Tahoe and there are shuttles running between the various buildings in the resort, which is handy. Wifi in the Cascade building was very slow. We would recommend choosing to stay in The Tower for a better view of the valley. Read less
