This place is using COVID as a reason to over charge and under serve. The rest of this review is a waste of words so they will post it. Blah blah blah this will take a long time to please these people. Blah blah blah.

Our first road trip since the whole corona virus thing. We decided on Mammoth Lakes which we love. Our usual hotel had no vacancies so we searched for something else. We saw this one and it looked great on their website but then we started reading the reviews and thought "oh no, should we book here or not?" After reading tons of reviews, we thought that we would go ahead. We really wanted to go to Mammoth and we figured we just had to sleep there and it was a step up from sleeping in the car or in a tent...Then we checked in. We were both pleasantly surprised. As other reviews have said the staff is very friendly and courteous. Many of the negative comments we read, we did not find to be true but some were true. Here is summary. Yes, it is very old hotel and it shows its age but we found our room clean and pleasant. We had an air conditioning unit that did keep the room comfortable, a working microwave, a flat screen TV that worked great and had many channels (we could even easily hook up our laptop with our HDMI cable and watch netflix using the hotel wifi (it did buffer a bit and occasionally froze but was workable). The beds were old but we found them acceptable. We did not find any bugs, etc in our room. The grass area around hotel was nice and they have an old minature golf course in parking lot which is only $7 each for adults and fun. The refrigerator in our room kept things slightly cool but I would not rely on it for something that really needs refrigeration and no freezer part for ice cream, etc. Our bathroom drain was slow but worked. Toilet and shower both worked and we had hot water in shower. Overall I would consider staying here again if our usual one was booked (Best Western). Usually Best Western's are fairly acceptable to us and I would consider this slightly below the average Best Western but definitely not as bad as some other places we have ended up in. We don't regret staying here but our expectations were quite low. One last thing, the hair dryer in the room didn't work. I went to front desk and she was polite and put it on housekeeping "list" with our room number. I doubt we will have it this morning. Part of this might have to do with the pandemic thing but part of it might just be this hotel. Read less

Our experience with this hotel and Expedia has been an utter nightmare. First, we booked our stay through Expedia online for the Sierra Nevada resort. We booked and prepaid for deluxe room and were at some point given a lodge room. Never having been here, I had no idea what a lodge even was. On the Expedia website, they only have available deluxe rooms and suites. They don’t even offer lodge rooms. The photos are of these Deluxe rooms that come with air, fridge, microwave, etc. When we arrived at the hotel after a long drive on a hot day and saw that our room was nothing like what we booked....no air, no fridge, no microwave, etc. Instead, we ended up with a dark, stuffy, moldy, mildew infested malodorous room, with stains on the carpet and furniture. Not to mention lumpy beds, one window with no screen so if we opened it for some fresh air, we would be letting in mosquitoes, bugs and who knows what else. Anyone could literally jump into our room from the parking lot. My son and I have bad allergies and would have gotten sick staying here, so within minutes we walked out. We asked for refund, stating that this was not the room we booked and they said we would have to contact Expedia. The staff at the front desk were not helpful and downright rude. Being Saturday, they had no other rooms available and we refused to stay there after seeing the horrid conditions. They never gave us a receipt upon arrival and refused to give us one when we left minutes later, saying they do have the ability to print receipts! What kind of establishment can’t provide their customers with receipts? Come to find out today when we spoke with Expedia that the hotel was lying, saying we stayed in the room. Even though we have an abundance of proof that we left immediately. Now, we are facing the runaround with Expedia who refuses to refund us, even after they booked us the wrong room and charged us still for the rates of the Deluxe room. If anyone goes to their website, they will see they only offer the Deluxe room for rent and nowhere can you find these disgusting lodge rooms as an option. I even tried to book for different days, every month until May 2021 and never once does Lodge appear as a choice. Expedia was trying to lay the blame on me, telling me I selected Lodge room. Even after arguing with them, calling multiple supervisors, emailing their claims and telling them it is physically impossible to book a Lodge from their website because it is not even a choice, they blamed me and refused my refund. I will now report the hotel to the Health dept. and Expedia to the Better Business Bureau and the State Attorney’s office. This ruined our family’s trip and both companies have been a nightmare to deal with. Please save yourself and don’t go here or deal with Expedia! I even tried posting a review for this place on Expedia but they didn’t put it through, but somehow they had no problem posting my 4 star review for the resort we stayed at in June Lake right away. They are not honestly posting all reviews, so beware. Read less

Travelers beware! This place is a total dive and not accurately represented by the photos online. We booked thru Expedia and it was a disaster. Travelers beware! This place is a total dive and not accurately represented by the photos online. We booked thru Expedia and it was a disaster. They won't refund you even though this is clearly a bait and switch operation. We booked a Deluxe Room thru Expedia which was supposed to have A/C, a refrigerator, microwave and other amenities. When we showed up we discovered they put us in a smaller Lodge room that had nothing we were promised. Aside from the room not having the amenities we expected, the room was disgusting. The smell of mildew was overpowering as soon as we entered the building. When I opened the door to the room I was greeted by a stained bench and the smell of mold. I immediately looked for the A/C only to discover there wasn't any. Then I noticed the lumpy beds and the dirty windows with no screens. When I called the front desk to ask about the A/C she said that this was the room the 3rd party booked and they didn't want to do anything to help us. In fact they seemed annoyed by my call. When I asked to speak with the manager, he conveniently left and they didn't know when he would be back. We left 10 minutes after checking in and when I asked for a receipt the hotel staff said they were unable to print a receipt due to their system. What a joke. Seriously stay away this place is run by thieves. If I could give them negative stars if I could. Read less

If there were a zero stars, I would give it that rating. This place was so disgusting that out of concern for anyone considering staying, we made a complaint to the health department. Roaches, unknown substances dripping down the walls, stains and goop on everything from doorknobs to lamp shades to counter tops. Urine on the toilet seat. No screens in second story windows in rooms with no AC. A rude front desk when asked about screen and extra blankets. She actually said that she couldn’t do anything because she wasn’t part of the custodial staff. Custodial staff dumping refuse in dumpsters and continuing with work without changing gloves; including grabbing door knobs used by guests. The list goes on and on. We did NOT stay. We requested a refund from front desk and hotels.com to no avail. We asked for Hotels.com to assist in finding a replacement hotel. The best they could do was a $50 voucher for future dates and that someone from corporate might get back with us once they reviewed our complaint. Hotels.com was powerless to help our family. No more hotels.com for us. And nobody should stay at this hotel. Period. We ended up at the Sierra Lodge. Very clean and customer service was outstanding. Read less
