Sheraton Anchorage

Anchorage, Alaska

The hotel

There’s no mistaking your setting when you stay at Sheraton Anchorage Hotel & Spa — it embraces everything magical about the Alaskan wilderness and everything exciting about downtown Anchorage, with attractions like Anchorage Museum and 5th Avenue Mall just blocks away. It’s like staying in a glamourous museum, with native Alaskan art giving you a real insight into local life at every turn. And, at the heart of it all, the hotel’s spectacular ‘Million Dollar Staircase’ is dressed in marble and jade, and frames a panel telling the Eskimo legend of an eagle that flew a native hunter from the Earth to the moon. You don’t have to fly far for food though, with JADE open for breakfast treats like Alaskan King Crab Benedict, Ptarmigan Lounge serving cocktails and bar bites, a Starbucks® kiosk, and a 24-hour ‘pantry’ for late-night munchies.

Pauline has always made my stay at the Sheraton special. Sheraton would struggle with out her. The front desk staff are also very good. No mater what time i arrive they are always pleasant and helpful. The hotel is a classic. They recently upgraded their elevators. The lounge is first class.

Finding covered parking was a bit confusing however the front desk staff was more than accommodating to answer any and all questions. True to Sheraton standards the hotel beds were heavenly. The showerhead was absolutely glorious, quite often it’s difficult to find good pressure in a hotel shower, however, this property has it figured out. The front desk staff and evening management we’re very pleasant, hospitable, and provided a smile during both check in and check our. Should I find myself in Anchorage again, I will certainly return to this property. Read less

I stayed here 2 nights total. We arrived to the hotel a little after 9PM. A front desk person had to be hunted down to get our keys. Bell services took over an hour to transport our luggage from the bus to the room. I was literally just waiting for that to go to bed. When it was delivered, there was no knock on the door. I only knew it was there because I could hear them in the hallway and I saw them deliver it through the peephole. The room itself was loud and in a terrible location near the elevator. I was too tired by the time I got my luggage to go down and ask to switch rooms. In the morning, there were very loud conversations taking place in the hallway. When I opened the door to go down to breakfast, I discovered that it was the hotel's own housekeeping staff chit-chatting in the hallway making all the noise. The room had some places of poor repair and there was black hair on the floor of the bathroom upon check in. It was a pretty basic and slightly dated room overall. I did not like toilet handle for a hotel room and I'm sure some people probably used their feet on it at some point so I made sure to disinfect that myself just in case. There was not a lot of space to step out of the shower with the positioning of the toilet and door. The previous guest had locked the safe into the open position, so I couldn't use it and wasn't going to call about it at 10PM when I discovered it. Breakfast was good, but there should be a sign telling you to seat yourself since there is a podium area when you walk up. I ultimately had to ask someone. Overall this hotel wasn't really up to the usual standards I have become accustomed to at Sheratons. Hotel staff shouldn't be disruptive in the hallway. The rooms need a refreshing. Read less

Quiet sleep, accommodating staff, clean, restful mattress. Needs a facelift, but the rack rate is inexpensive. Free parking, easy walk to downtown. A minor room-problem was immediately repaired. Cookies and chocolate during the Holidays was generous.Easy in and out.Returnable!

The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. I had a very nice room, lots of space and great views. I have stayed at a lot of hotels in the area and I am announcing This is my new "when I visit anchorage hotel". I could not have had a better stay. K. Smith
