Westmark Anchorage Hotel

Anchorage, Alaska

The hotel

When it’s all about the destination, a stay at Westmark Anchorage Hotel delivers. Anchored in downtown, it’s right by the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, and a simple stroll from 5th Avenue Mall and Anchorage Museum. But it’s not just the ‘nearby’ sights you get to enjoy when you stay here — every guestroom has a private balcony with views either down to the buzzing city scene or out to the Chugach Mountains or Cook Inlet. The tour desk is open all summer to set you up with action-packed adventures like flight-seeing over glaciers and cruising along fjords, or taking more gentle trolley tours around Anchorage. Of course, it’s not just about what’s outside, so inside you get complimentary WiFi access, a gym, Alaskan dining — think ‘reindeer burgers’ — at Solstice Bar & Grill, and pastries and Starbucks® at the espresso bar.

Room and facility were ok for the very reasonable rate. Location was great. Very close to the Denaina Center. Housekeeping needs trained though. I looked forward to having a hot bath upon arrival. Instead of a relaxing bath, I was greeted by 2 pubic hairs in the tub. Disgusting. Besides that, the bathroom door and tub were in a disgraceful… Read more

We have stayed here several times. The service is not the best. It is a clean place and located near the train station. They do offer a shuttle. But even the restaurant's service is very slow, and it is very pricey. The hotel is not a cheap location, but it is Anchorage. Even the one elevator location is very slow.

Good rooms, near everything in downtown Anchorage. Parking is easy, adjacent to the Hotel. A common area allows seating while staging any adventure, or just killing some time. Rooms are ample in size, and on them outside wall have balconies to the open air.

Well, I’m not sure if there were any renovations/ repairs done post, but we were booked in to this hotel on the land portion of our Double Denali tour. The room was was downright dingy, and not befitting the HAL brand. Broken tiles and handrail in bathroom. Mouldy tub, soft, worn bed mattress, pilled sheets, and the veneer peeling off the tops of tables in the room. Obviously there was some surface water damage in the past. Why would Holland America think that this was an acceptable hotel in which to place their 30%guests? Maybe because we were exhausted from the long day on the bus and too tired to complain? On a positive note, the restaurant staff were lovely and hardworking. Read less

Room 1410 warm with comfortable king size bed and pillows, table and chair plus armchair with side table, TV, tea / coffee maker, bath with shower over, toiletries provided. Small bar and grill area where breakfast is served and which is not large enough for breakfast or an evening meal. A couple of PC's are provided so you can checkin on the flight but 2 printers connected not working so had to keep asking reception to print off tickets. Read less
