Westmark Anchorage Hotel

Anchorage, Alaska

The hotel

When it’s all about the destination, a stay at Westmark Anchorage Hotel delivers. Anchored in downtown, it’s right by the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, and a simple stroll from 5th Avenue Mall and Anchorage Museum. But it’s not just the ‘nearby’ sights you get to enjoy when you stay here — every guestroom has a private balcony with views either down to the buzzing city scene or out to the Chugach Mountains or Cook Inlet. The tour desk is open all summer to set you up with action-packed adventures like flight-seeing over glaciers and cruising along fjords, or taking more gentle trolley tours around Anchorage. Of course, it’s not just about what’s outside, so inside you get complimentary WiFi access, a gym, Alaskan dining — think ‘reindeer burgers’ — at Solstice Bar & Grill, and pastries and Starbucks® at the espresso bar.

I stayed at the Westmark Hotel on 9/8/19. The hallways were dirty, and the rooms were old and, in my case, had broken furniture. The balcony door did not lock, and the windows were old, and let in a lot of street noise. Not a pleasant experience at all.

This is the most disgusting hotel we’ve ever stayed in. When I complained to the desk they didn’t understand the severity of the room being so dirty. One employee was even smirking and giggling at the situation. See pictures below The 1st one is some sort of liquid stain on the TV The 2nd 2 are dirty light plates. The 3rd & 4th are… Read more
This is the most disgusting hotel we’ve ever stayed in. When I complained to the desk they didn’t understand the severity of the room being so dirty. One employee was even smirking and giggling at the situation. See pictures below The 1st one is some sort of liquid stain on the TV The 2nd 2 are dirty light plates. The 3rd & 4th are pictures of hair in the shower. The hair is at the top of the shower and some is even painted on. The last is of the toilet. I know these things seem trivial but if these things aren’t clean what else is dirty and what germs are in this room. They have offered to clean our room or move us but my husband is not feeling well and I don’t want to disturb him. I have asked the manager at the Westmark to put us up in another hotel, including transportation costs for tomorrow, just so we can take a shower in a clean shower in a clean hotel. They denied my request and said it would be at our own expense. I notified them that I would be reporting them to the health department and they didn’t seem to care. I have asked them to clean another room so we can take a shower in a clean room tomorrow (I can only hope it’s clean.). They are even arguing with me about that as well. I sincerely hope we don’t end up getting sick from being in this building. The room also reeks of stale cigarette smoke. Based on the patching and repairs in the bathroom it looks like they had to remove some mold damage. This was a post cruise stay from Holland America. Read less

Located centrally and in easy walking distance of good restaurants, this chain hotel is looking a little tired, but the staff were very friendly (as are most Alaskans). Convenient tour desk located in the back lobby.

Hotel is in dire need of refreshing. Chain lock on door broken, furniture worn and chipped and lamps plugged in where you have to walk over a cord to get in bed. Good view but not at all up to par for what we would have expected from Holland America. Glad it is only one night.

Hotel is in need of a refresh. Carpet needed replacement in hallways and the rooms were dated. Bed very comfortable. Staff very nice. We had breakfast buffet in the morning which had a nice selection and food hot and delicious.
