Our sheets were stained with multiple blood and other stains. We didn’t notice it until the next day. I removed the top sheets of both beds and found multiple blood stains on both beds. We were disgusted seeing what we had slept on. I called the front desk and told them I wanted new mattress protectors and sheets placed on our beds. Someone did come to change the beds but she only had linen to change one of the beds. She said she would come back later to do the other bed. We left for our hike and came back hours later and the other bed had not been touched. I called the front desk again and they sent someone to change the other bed. The stained mattress protector was still on the bed and he proceeded to place a flat sheet over the stained protector. Thank goodness I was in the room. I told him “no”, that I wanted a new protector placed on the bed. I also pointed to the stains and said this is disgusting. He was just gonna cover up the stains with the sheet. I also had to have 5 pillows replaced after I found stains on the pillows. I ended up having to go to the supply closet on my own to get towels, washcloths, TP and tissues for our room. The front desk did offer to move us to another room but I told them we would stay where we were since I knew the sheets were clean in this room. Please see my pictures of the stains that were on our beds. And, as I walked by other rooms with doors open, I noticed another stained bed. If we ever come back to the Grand Canyon, we will not be staying at Yavapai Lodge! Read less

While the room was clean and the bed acceptable, that is the best I can say about my stay. For some reason the hot water to the sink was turned off. Secondly, there was a hour glass affixed to the bathtub wall with a suction cup, which of course, fell off in the middle of the night, startling us out of a peaceful sleep. Finally, and most disconcerting, is our experience at the facilities “Tavern Restaurant”. The staff member taking our order was extremely rude for no apparent reason. I took over an hour for the server to bring us the wrong order. It ultimately took nearly 2 hours before we got our food. I ordered the Elk Burger which was so dried out (and cold) that the bread could literally be used as croutons. I tried to choke down the meal, but eventually just threw is out. Of course, the delay in preparing and serving our order prevented us from being able to experience the sunset at the Grand Canyon. The sunset view is touted to be a highlight while at the Grand Canyon, but we may never know for certain. Read less

Some reviews were really good and some were not, We got a room on the West side. It was very clean, had updated furnishings, huge window overlooking the grounds and nice white modern linens on super comfy beds. Yes, it is run by the park service so its not the Ritz but to be honest I thought it was perfect. I actually would have loved to stay another night. There was a Keurig and mini fridge. We brought our own mini Nespresso machine so we did not use. I see someone commented on the plastic cups but I was happy they had refillable shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. It was really nice to see that effort. I liked that one could walk right out to the grounds and to the car. It was easy and quick to load up the luggage. Well, whatever room we had was very nice, I am very picky. Checkout very quick and easy. I would not hesitate to stay there again! Plus the location right in the park is unbeatable. Regarding the food we ordered a nice vegan pizza at the pizza place right outside of the park. We took it out to a nice overlook and enjoyed the awesome views. I brought overnight oats for breakfast so we did not get a chance to go to the dining area. Read less

This was our first stay in the park itself at the Grand Canyon. Previously had stayed 12 minutes south in Tusayan. All of the lodging in the area is overpriced, but in comparison the Yavapai Lodge was not unreasonable. Built in the late 1950s, the rooms are motel-like, and although may have been updated at some point, still feel "old". The staff… Read more

Built in the late 1950s, the rooms are motel-like, and although may have been updated at some point, still feel "old". The staff (seemingly all international and young) were very friendly, and the lodge is very convenient to dining, the general store, and (most importantly) the shuttle system. We liked staying in the park, but may need to explore Bright Angel Lodge and the El Tovar Hotel before returning to Yavapai Lodge again. Read less

We loved our 2 nights here , most of all because of location. Check in smooth and reception staff pleasant and helpful. Lodge had everything we needed and was clean although dark and somewhat dated. Our only constructive criticism is the lack of organisation and ridiculously long queues at on site restaurant.
