London Bridge Resort

Lake Havasu, Lake Powell & Lake Havasu

The hotel

A glimpse of home in the desert – London Bridge Resort is indeed the resting place of our very own London Bridge, taken down brick by brick and rebuilt overlooking beautiful Lake Havasu. And what a location it is – surrounded by 110 beautiful acres that doubles as a veritable playground for the outdoors enthusiast. There’s an on-site marina and dock plus water sports galore, including water skiing, fishing, sailing and canoeing. Plan your own water adventure or enjoy a narrated Colorado River tour on the Kon Tiki or Bluewater Jet Boat – a great way to get to grips with your surrounds! Dry land activities include shopping in nearby English Village, jeep tours in the Mojave Desert or a visit to nearby Havasu National Wildlife Refuge Park. There’s also a 9-hole golf course, open seven days a week and perfect for beginners and veterans. There are plenty of restaurants and nightspots in the immediate vicinity too or enjoy an evening at the resort’s very own Martini Bay which overlooks London Bridge and Bridgewater Channel. Both a restaurant and a bar, it’s a chic venue with a casual, relaxing atmosphere. Kokomo Havasu is another lively venue come sundown with DJ’s spinning dance tunes well into the night!

The party was over, most people were headed back home and we had the place to ourselves for the most part. The staff was great and we were hesitant to take the suite right over the bar because of noise into the night, but like they said, if it's slow they will shut down at 10 pm. It was fine and our room had a great view over the pool, marina and bridge. Room was great, although I took a nap on the couch and would hate to sleep on that thing. The last time I stayed here I was on a solo road trip in 2004 and this hotel is definitely ready for some updating. The outside is well kept as are the grounds but take a look at the photo of our toilet seat. It was actually WORN OUT and scratchy on the back side! I would think once the paint starts coming off, they would replace it. Windows were difficult to open...well it was 109 that day so I imagine nobody wanted to open them all summer. The only other maintenance issue I can think of are the ceiling fans, which in our room were quite loud. We had a nice anniversary dinner at Martini Bay with excellent service by a guy who was born and raised here. I can't remember his name but he was great! See my separate review for the sunset cruise if you want to see the lake and don't have a boat. If the staff hadn't been so great, (I'm talking everyone, from check-in, maintenance, bar staff, waiters, housekeeping) I might not have opted for four stars but the view, location and close proximity to everything made it great. I look forward to seeing it again after some updates are done. Read less

We were only staying here one night so we could look at what had happened to London Bridge and this hotel is ideal for that. We arrived late in the evening and when we entered the lobby were met by a replica of the British Gold Coronation Coach — the original is in the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace and was built in the 1700s. The reception staff as were all the other staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 1st floor and consisted of a kitchen/dining room area with table and chairs, seating area by the window with flat screen TV. The kitchen area consisted of large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and hob. There were also plenty of plates, glasses and utensils. There was an ice dispensing machine at the end of the corridor. The bedroom was on the smallish side with no windows but comfortable with a queen sized bed and off that was the en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. There was plenty of toiletries, soap, towels and a hair dryer. The Wi-fi worked well.as did the air con as it was 115f outside. Everything was very clean As the name implies this is a resort hotel with a swimming pool , fitness centre, separate water slide, bars, separate water volleyball area and the back of the hotel directly overlooks London Bridge which is about 300 yards away. However what lets the hotel down is the quality of the breakfast. To call them basic would be complimenting basic. The breakfasts are served in a separate area at the Splash Grill across a courtyard opposite the rear of the hotel. The grill is quite small with wooden chairs and tables. The breakfast is buffet style with everything served on plastic plates with plastic cutlery. There was a fresh fruit salad, scrambled eggs which were tasteless and very dry, sausages, tamales.coffee and juices. There was also a toasting machine for bread but they had run out of english muffins when we arrived. The whole thing was totally unappetising and just poor quality. Obviously if we were staying for longer we would have probably had provided our own breakfast in our room but my advice if you are going to stay there one night find somewhere off property to have breakfast. Nice resort, right on the Bridgewater Channel. Lots of activities and shopping around. An on-site restaurant and bar with more restaurants nearby. Three pools, and a nice beach and walking path. It's very hot this time of the year, so be advised.

The hotel staff all seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs and always stop and say hello and ask if they can help. They make the guest feel like family or friends and truly appreciated. Even though it was well over 100 degrees the pool was refreshing and we spent several hours there every day. Read less
