Palomar Phoenix CityScape a Kimpton Hotel

Phoenix, Arizona

The hotel

Anything but ‘spit and sawdust’, Palomar Phoenix CityScape is far from the city’s Wild West origins – in fact, it’s a byword for boutique. Each floor opens up a new luxury. Downstairs, your hosts greet you with complimentary hot drinks each morning, and a wine hour each night. The second floor gastropub, Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails, has a menu pairing small seasonal plates, ideal for sharing, with original cocktails and carefully curated wines and beers. And the third floor rooftop space gives you a stunning pool, a seriously smart lounge bar, and views over downtown Phoenix. When you’re ready to step out and explore it, you’re perfectly positioned in CityScape, the hotspot for all that’s happening in the city, and by EŌS Fitness, where you get free entry.

I was there for a business trip and the rooms were comfortable and the service was good. The meeting space was also comfortable but the sound carried a bit in the meeting rooms. The outdoor bar was is a nice space.

I called the hotel before arriving and spoke with Sierra. She was very helpful. When we arrived, we checked in with Sierra and she was so bright and bubbley! She quickly checked us in and we headed off to our room. We had a suite on a corner of the 5th floor. A great room with a beautiful soaking tub, beedroom and a large sitting room. So very relaxing. We walked around downtown Phoeniz a bit then went to the room to relax. At 5PM we went down to the Wine hour. This is such a wonderful way to start a fun evening out. From there, it is a short walt to concerts, ball games or almot any venue downtown is close by. After wine hour, we went to the 3rd floor bar and pool. There is lots of sun and also plenty of shade. We enjoyed some small bite dishes. I understand that the pool is on the list of 10 best party pools in Phoenix. It was quite popular when we were there. All of the staff we encountered were geniunely happy and helpful. I will use this hotel anytime we go downtown for a game or concert so I don't have to drive home after. Again I want to thank Sierra for helping to make our night memorable. Read less

The hotel had good amenities, and friendly and helpful staff. We knew nothing of the area in advance (Downtown Phoenix), as our travel agent did all the bookings, but it suited us perfectly, being vibrant, central and close to where we wanted to be. We would certainly return.(And we loved Phoenix!)

We had a good stay, nothing outstanding but good. Check in, check out and our valet service EXCELLENT!!! Actually we loved our breakfast waiter at the Blue Hound every morning and the food. Our room was very comfortable- well I should clarify that- we got a one bedroom suite, it was beautiful and very large but the sofa they have in there is a total joke. Extremely uncomfortable and a weird leatherlike plastic material- SOOOO uncomfortable. The worse part of this place was the 3rd floor pool bar area. Trying to get service here is impossible and this was when it was empty- the waitstaff is TERRIBLE!!! They just stand around chatting with each other rather than helping customers. We were told and they advertise happy hour from 3-6. When you get to Lustre it says 4-6 BUT when you try to order something on HH they say they don’t have a HH. Not only that the first day we went for 3 drinks it was one price and the next day we went for the same 3 drinks it was twice as much. A total rip off. The other problem we had was 2 mornings in a row our doorbell kept ringing at 7am. We assume it was housekeeping yet we had our Do Not Disturb sign out. It happened over and over. We ended up just taking the doorbell off and it solved that problem. We have been to Phoenix many times and stayed at some amazing resorts. I probably wouldn’t stay here unless you have to be downtown for some reason. There are better properties with more reasonable amenities in the area. Read less
