W Scottsdale

Scottsdale, Arizona

The hotel

Radically different to its neighbours, W Scottsdale taps into the lively undercurrent of its trendy Entertainment District setting – with features and bars that make it cool and hot in equal measure. On the city’s ‘IT list’, the difference is discernible as soon as you step inside (just look up and you’ll spy the WET Pool through oversized portholes). Head upstairs and the WET Deck welcomes you with the outdoor pool with underwater lighting and music, overstuffed loungers and private cabanas, and weekend pool parties with live DJs. The party continues downstairs, with the lobby space transformed into an open ‘Living Room’ featuring stylish furniture, live music sessions, and a party atmosphere until the wee hours. And, when bed finally beckons, it’s the hotel’s signature W Bed, in a guestroom with sliding floor-to-ceiling windows and a WHATEVER/WHENEVER® Concierge service.

Only place open for breakfast is sushi Roku. Very understaffed. Very slow to put order in or get water or even coffee. Tomorrow breakfast will be offsite. For such a great hotel the food offering is severely lacking.

We had a lovely room with a balcony, beautiful view of the zen garden and pool area. The staff here were amazing and so accommodating! THANK YOU, Matt, the manager, Elisa, front desk clerk, Nick, the bellman and Oscar, the transportation driver., you all made our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to returning and staying here again very soon.

Not a fan of the W brand, but this one particularly disappointing. Hallways are dark, rooms are small and poorly laid out. And if you have children, do not let them go into the restrooms off the lobby. The near pornographic video that plays above each urinal is disgusting. I'm not a prude, but it has no place in a public setting. JW Marriott would… Read more

The W in Scottsdale seems like the place to see and be seen in the area. The W in Scottsdale seems like the place to see and be seen in the area. During the day, it’s pretty quiet, but at night there’s an endless amount of luxury cars and attractive people piling in/out of them. The hotel itself is very nice. The amenity spaces are top notch and well designed, except for maybe the lack of plug ins in Living Room. There’s lots of fun elements- the bar in Living Room is beautifully back light with Southwest inspired lounge spaces, elevators that change colors/patterns as you ride, etc. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. I really loved the bathroom setup, although it’s not ideal if you’re sharing a room with someone, it’s quite intimate. What really blows the W away is the customer service. From the valet to the front desk and servers, everyone is extremely welcoming and kind. They remember your name, activities that have been planned, they’re really just exceptional. Two small issues- noise. Walls are very thin. There was a lot of loud foot traffic and voices in the hallways at all hours, as well as a crying baby nearby. Every time the baby woke up and cried, I was awake as well. If you’re here to get sleep, make sure to address this with the front desk upon arrival. The hallways are also SUPER dark and kind of hard to navigate. There’s literally hardly any light in them. Read less

I have been very loyal to Marriott for about a decade so I hadn't stayed at a W for quite a while but I was really disappointed in this hotel. I have been very loyal to Marriott for about a decade so I hadn't stayed at a W for quite a while but I was really disappointed in this hotel. The rooms were small, the balcony had like 12 foot walls around it so it was useless, the AC didn't work so the room was hot and stuffy (in February), there was organic material on a couple of the towels in the room and in spite of telling me they weren't going to enter my room because I chose the Green Option (not that I cared if they came into my room) they still charged me for a bottle of water that was on the countertop that I didn't touch or drink...there are tons of good options in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley - for a W type experience that is nicer and has a better vibe (plus sits in the shadow of Camelback Mountain) try the Mountain Shadows hotel in nearby Paradise Valley Read less
