Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, a Fairmont Managed Hotel

Bermuda, USA

The hotel

When you hear ‘Bermuda’, if you picture pink sand beaches, yachts of the rich and famous, celebrity chef dining venues, and exclusive beach clubs, you won’t be disappointed at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. A club-style resort, you’ll find an assortment of fashionable hangouts: there’s the island’s only full-service marina, where you can catch excursions; the uber-cool Beach Club, where you can sink into chaises on rose-hued sands; the Exhale Spa and fitness hubs; and the two swimming zones – one a serene adult-only lap pool, the other a stunning infinity pool. The dining’s just as impressive, particularly at harbour-side Marcus’, with artworks by Andy Warhol and Nelson Mandela, ocean views, and an open kitchen, so you can keep an eye on Marcus Samuelsson’s protégés as they rustle up your Jerk Pork Belly or Bermudian Fish Chowder Bites.

My last flight as a British Airways Captain was to Bermuda and staying in the Hamilton Princess. I chose Bermuda because it is one of my favourite places in the World. The staff at this hotel went out of their way to decorate my room, to provide unexpected gifts and greet us sincerely throughout the stay. They also organised a dinner for 30 people that I hosted. The staff in the restaurant were exceedingly polite and organised, the excellent and plentiful food was served promptly and with good grace despite the large numbers.... I was blown away by the hotel’s hospitality and excellent service in an era when cost cutting seems to dominate everything. And I have stayed in many hotels over the years !!! Thank you so much, I will be back in my retirement! Thank you.... Read less

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We opted for the gold floor and I cannot say enough about how lovely it was. The service exceptional and the people incredible. The hotel is lovely - not completely open but we knew this going in and it was completely fine.

We were lucky enough to spend 5 days at the Hamilton Princess at the end of February/beginning of March. It was our first visit to Bermuda. The hotel itself, along with its view and surroundings is absolutely stunning. We spent a lot of time in the Gold Lounge, as we had opted to go with the Gold Service. The excellent service and genuine kindness we received from everybody there was second to none. Ben, Sanjay, Emily and Michael really all made our days exceptional. (Sanjay made me the perfect pot of tea each morning with a lovely smile!) They truly want you to fully enjoy every moment of your stay, and they really helped make that happen. Looking forward to another visit, hopefully soon!! Read less

We spent a very nice week at the Hamilton Princess in mid-February. Every employee we encountered always greeted us with a sincere hello and “have a nice (or Bermudaful) day.” I would highly recommended booking accommodations that include the Gold Lounge. Every employee we encountered always greeted us with a sincere hello and “have a nice (or Bermudaful) day.” I would highly recommended booking accommodations that include the Gold Lounge. They provide exceptional service from check-in to breakfast, tea, hors d’oeveres, and desert. The view is great also and a nice place to spend the day reading. A special thanks to Torun, who contacted us before our trip and arranged airport transfers as well as great advice and suggestions while we were there. The hotel is not beachfront, which was fine for February. They do provide transportation to their private beach. We went one day and it is gorgeous. The hotel is within a short walking distance to many restaurants (the hotel restaurants are very good, so you wouldn’t need to leave), downtown shopping and the ferry station. Read less

Been lucky enough to stay in a lot of great hotels around the world but I think this is my favourite. Staff all so friendly. We ate twice in the Marcus restaurant, Sunday brunch on the first weekend of our trip and on the last Saturday also. Their burger was $27 but quite the best I've ever had. The Johnny bread and flavour combos was amazing. Award-winning too I was told afterwards. Wine not cheap but all good quality. Tried the Chateau d'Issan vertical tasting (2005, 2010, 2015), which was interesting. Had a few issues but thanks to Head Sommelier Alex for sorting that out. Art hanging on the walls here absolutely amazing. By the end of the trip, I was quite used to walking past all the Warhols, Lowrys and Banksys but it did give added interest to explore the hotel wondering what master might be hung up around the corner. My only criticism of our lovely room was that it didn't have a bath, which would have been nice to soak in after our golf days. Will check I have that next stay. Spent the last afternoon in the infinity pool and hot tub watching the boats go past. Hotel gave us a courtesy room to change for the airport, which was a nice touch. Bermuda is a beautiful island. Nice people too. We'll definitely be back. Read less
