Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, a Fairmont Managed Hotel

Bermuda, USA

The hotel

When you hear ‘Bermuda’, if you picture pink sand beaches, yachts of the rich and famous, celebrity chef dining venues, and exclusive beach clubs, you won’t be disappointed at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. A club-style resort, you’ll find an assortment of fashionable hangouts: there’s the island’s only full-service marina, where you can catch excursions; the uber-cool Beach Club, where you can sink into chaises on rose-hued sands; the Exhale Spa and fitness hubs; and the two swimming zones – one a serene adult-only lap pool, the other a stunning infinity pool. The dining’s just as impressive, particularly at harbour-side Marcus’, with artworks by Andy Warhol and Nelson Mandela, ocean views, and an open kitchen, so you can keep an eye on Marcus Samuelsson’s protégés as they rustle up your Jerk Pork Belly or Bermudian Fish Chowder Bites.

What's there to say - the property is beautiful, super close to NYC and everyone is super attentive. I never realized the restaurants were curated by Chef Marcus - we at at Marcus' or 1609 every day for 4 days straight. Do yourself a favor and order the catch of the day at Marcus' for dinner in the miso broth. Also, make sure to say hello to Les and Lloyd. Some of the best guys that were super helpful, and made the trip even that much more enjoyable. Cannot wait to see them again for our next trip in the coming weeks - everyone just cares and wants you to relax and have a good time. Room was amazing, if booking make sure you book a terrace. Although they’re are additional rooms, the addition of 1609 restaurant and Marcus Samuelsson’s michelin Star Restaurant, I felt at home. The staff is Island friendly, warm and inviting. Relaxing by the infinite pool is magical. Watching the sunset and enjoying a great book and a rum swizzle is a dream come true. The center of town is a convenient 5 minute walk where you can access the bus and ferry terminals and shop at unique stores. One of these, Alexandra Mosher Studio, offers hand made jewelry of your memento ls of the island. Take a relaxing bus ride to St. George’s and visit the amazing Lili Bermuda Perfumery. All unique fragrances to feast your olfactory senses to. My personal favorite, CORAL. Isabelle Ramsay-Brackstone is the delightful, lively and very knowledgeable owner. Take a tour and have tea with Sweet P. For an island that’s 22 miles long, it offers everything for couples and families. Enjoy! Read less

It may be 5 stars. And it may charge hundreds of dollars a night. And so it is on the entire island. But that doesn’t allow for offering non smiling service or no room service available after 23.00. Or service only burger food after this in the bar. Cynically meant of course. But sometimes one encounters these high end places, that simply forget… Read more

Or service only burger food after this in the bar. Cynically meant of course. But sometimes one encounters these high end places, that simply forget to do the basics. Making people feel welcome and offering charming warm hearted service. Beyond the technical 5 star quality. That’s their challenge. Read less
