For a little mini vacation, we spent two nights in Boston and rather than book a stay in our usual Copley location, we thought we'd mix it up and stay by the harbor side instead. We wisely chose the Boston Harbor Hotel and while it was a bit pricier than the Fairmont, the quality was much better and there was NO resort fee! So all in all, the difference in price wasn't all that much more! The hotel was quiet, understated but elegant. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was lovely! The hotel was in a great location with great views! We were upgraded to a junior suite for my husband's birthday. It was very spacious with a great view of the city and I just loved the vanity area of the bath - with a huge mirror and good lighting. All the staff was friendly - especially the concierge Kevin? and the front desk person Emin?, both whom were very helpful. As we usually like to do, we ate only at the hotel's restaurants. For dinners, the very high end Meritage was just fabulous... the food, view and service were all incomparable! In fact, my husband was persuaded to eat there on our second night, even though Palm was the other restaurant we considered! It was a no-brainer as the ambience was not even in the same hemisphere! We had breakfasts (part of the package), and our lunches at Sea Grill where the food was very good. Service was also good but one morning they did mix up my husband's breakfast. Fortunately, I had ordered a bagel and salmon so there was no serious problem caused with food going cold while they brought the correct meal. The Spa was the only disappointment. It was poorly staffed with no one in either the mens' or womens' locker/shower area There was nobody there to provide towels, robes, slippers or any guidance regarding how to work the lockers. The lack of staffing might also prove to be a liability as the steam room was extraordinarily hot and there was no one to check on guests who might have been in there, not to mention that the deserted locker room was creepy. With it's warrens and hidden areas, you couldn't tell if anyone was in there. Also, the lack of a jaccuzzi at the spa was disappointing. The pool, however was very nice. All in all, if the spa had been the only attraction to stay here, we would not be coming back. But the spa was a secondary amenity so we will return. Because of the gracious ambience, because of the cleanliness and the friendliness of this hotel, because of ALL those little extras like the little cake that was delivered to our room for my husband's birthday, and the room upgrade and the eyeglass cloth and bookmark on my nightstand that I found next to my book and reading glasses. Those are things that make make a hotel stay really special and what brings brings people (including my husband and me), back to for another stay! Read less

The service is wonderful, the decor exudes grandeur. We barely left the hotel all weekend. We had a wonderfully relaxing time in the spa and our huge room, the dining was lovely especially the weekend buffet breakfast. Staff were friendly and attentive and ever so helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough, it made marathon weekend ever so easy!
