Nine Zero, A Kimpton Hotel

Boston, USA

The hotel

This luxury Boston hotel is regarded as one of the best in Boston. It's trendy, well positioned and friendly with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Guest rooms provide a welcome retreat from the buzz of the city, featuring a good range of mod cons. For a real treat, take advantage of the in-room spa treatments available, including hot stone massage and spirulina body wrap - pure bliss! There's also a state-of-the-art fitness centre, open 24/7 with complimentary water and towels to cool you down. Because you're so central, there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity but if you're in the mood for another treat (and why no, you're on holiday!), make sure you frequent the hotel's vintage cocktail lounge, the Highball. Popular with the locals, it's a great mix of fun and nostalgia with some killer cocktails to boot.

Stayed at Nine Zero with my fiance for a weekend! The concierge Ashley, is literally the cutest! She was so friendly and had great suggestions. We ended up going to the Alcove for dinner which was exactly the vibe we were going for. She also told us about a great coffee shop which we had to visit before we went home. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because the valet was a bit confusing. Someone was supposed to help with my luggage but no one ever came back for it. No big deal, I was able to easily bring it up myself! Read less

Pros: The location is just perfect: within walking distance to many historical points of interest, Faneuil Hall, and modern-day conveniences (DD and Rite-Aid) as well as many really good eating/drinking/music establishments (steps from Barracuda Tavern which had THE BEST clam chowder of our trip!). Beds are super comfortable and the outside noise disappeared in our 16th story room. The valet parking people were phenomenal -- they were ALWAYS on-their-game! And we loved the fact that there was always a couple pitchers of ice cold water infused with fruit available in the lobby. Oh-and as we were pulling our luggage out of the room before check-out, one of the cleaning crew handed us a bunch of foil-wrapped chocolates which was a great way to begin our next leg of the journey to Provincetown. Cons: Anything that had to do with the front desk was an abosolute FAILURE. Except for the processing of our bill...the front desk could have been unmanned. Check in? At 1 hour and 10 mins past the designated 3 PM check-in time, both kids had fallen asleep on the sofas in the lounge. It was the woman who was setting up for cocktail hour that finally contacted Danielle (who I think might have been in charge of cleaning staff) who got us into our room. I know she probably just wanted us out of her lounge since cocktail hour was due to begin but it was a win-win and the most action we'd seen despite my numerous visits to the front desk for an update on checking in. And PS: No. We didn't see a credit on our bill. Also, don't believe the pleasant cards in the bathrooms which ask you to contact the concierge if you forget hygiene items which are supposed to be delivered to your room. No human ever answered the concierge line during our stay, no one ever returned our calls, and no hygiene items were ever delivered (thus the importance of the close location of Rite Aid). Also, the in-room computer perpetually listed room service as being a 45 minute wait and we never got a human to answer that call either: went straight to voicemail. So if one of your kids wants ice cream delivered to the room...skip on over to the Rite Aid which has a nice selection of Ben and Jerry's. Read less

We love Kimpton Hotels. The NineZero is very nice. Convenient to public transportation, the Boston Commons and many top tourist spots. We had a very nice double queen room. It was quite spacious with a good sized bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a light meal in the restaurant one night and it was good. Our room rate included complimentary breakfast of pastries, fruit, cheeses, juice & coffee. One negative is the slow elevators. Many people waiting for them in the am. It was a great stay. Read less
