Nine Zero, A Kimpton Hotel

Boston, USA

The hotel

This luxury Boston hotel is regarded as one of the best in Boston. It's trendy, well positioned and friendly with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Guest rooms provide a welcome retreat from the buzz of the city, featuring a good range of mod cons. For a real treat, take advantage of the in-room spa treatments available, including hot stone massage and spirulina body wrap - pure bliss! There's also a state-of-the-art fitness centre, open 24/7 with complimentary water and towels to cool you down. Because you're so central, there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity but if you're in the mood for another treat (and why no, you're on holiday!), make sure you frequent the hotel's vintage cocktail lounge, the Highball. Popular with the locals, it's a great mix of fun and nostalgia with some killer cocktails to boot.

Upon checkin my status was not recognized, front desk staff was very rude and rushing the process, some ridiculous resort fee is charged. The room type I requested at booking wasn’t what I was given. When I called from the room to ask about it I was just told sorry we are fully booked today. Room has very nice decor but the walls are extremely thin. I got no sleep because all I heard was people in other rooms or the hall. Beat advice is to go stay somewhere else not this hotel. Read less

I stayed at the Kimpton Nine Zero hotel with my fiancé on March 31 and April 1, 2021. This was unfortunately the worst hotel stay we have ever experienced. On our first night during our stay, we noticed that there were no wash cloths in the bathroom, and the body wash container was almost empty. I called the concierge and requested for someone to bring the needed items to our room. She told me that her housekeeper already went home and I would have to wait until the morning. I called back a second time and explained that we had just spent an entire day traveling and dealing with flight delays, and all we wanted to do was shower and clean up and did not have the bare minimum supplies to do so. I asked if she could go into an empty room to get the supplies from an unoccupied space. The concierge told me that the hotel is “nearly full,” that she is the only one working in the hotel at that time and we really need to wait until morning. Frustrated, I called the agency we booked through to tell them we were already having a bad experience. They offered to call the hotel, and within minutes another person (not the same concierge who told me she was the only employee working) came to our room with the needed supplies. After returning from a late dinner, we realized that we did not have any water bottles or cups in the room. The local 7-eleven was closed, so we asked the hotel concierge if they had water available. She said that whatever is available on the shelf to the side is what is available at the moment. We pointed out that there was no water. She said “well this is what we have.” We asked if the fitness center had water, and she said no. We asked again “so as guests in this hotel, where are we expected to access drinking water?” She said “I’ll see if we can find some and seemed very annoyed with us. We also found out on our way back to our room that the fitness center did in fact have a drinking fountain with a spout for filling water bottles (so she either lied to us or was misinformed on what is available in the fitness center). On our last morning, we needed another roll of toilet paper, because we realized that our room only had the single roll on the wall. After calling the front desk 2-3 times and no getting an answer, I had to wait in the lobby for someone to come back so I could ask for toilet paper. I’ve never been to a hotel before where the room is not stocked with a single backup roll, especially when they are not doing regular room service! Wash cloths. Body wash. Water. Toilet paper. Literally the minimal essentials to any basic hotel stay. This hotel could not deliver unless we begged for these items. The booking agency tried reaching out to the hotel manager to arrange compensation for our miserable stay, and the hotel declined. This was a hotel experience I hope I don’t have to repeat. I’d expect this as a Motel 6 (maybe) but definitely NOT from a Kimpton hotel. Read less

Just an all around easy place to stay. Rooms are spacious and given things are just opening up post covid, they are on top of it. We stayed 3 nights. They offer a 5-6pm complimentary wine hour which is nice.

He also informed us of their happy hour and even though we missed the time frame, he let us take advantage of the offer anyway. When I even offered to write this review, he even told me that it wasn’t necessary, but I decided to do it on here anyway because of such great service! Thank you Karim and nine zero!! Read less

Nice (if small) rooms, loved the Eames chairs. Where the whole experience fell apart and left me with a bad taste in my mouth was the service. I really don't write reviews online but felt this was some very sloppy service for a "luxury" hotel... and I stay at quite a few for work. 1. When we showed up, I mentioned that my girlfriend (also staying with me) was a healthcare worker and asked about the discount, as we were paying at check in. The gentleman at the desk quickly brushed the request aside and said we had to do it at the time of online reservation and made zero effort to apply any kind of discount... not even suggesting to cancel and then re-book, nothing. 2. Unfortunately, when I checked out I left a nice dress shirt and suit jacket in the closet of my room. I know this for a fact because I only had one small bag and thoroughly searched the bag and car when I got home. Called the hotel staff to see if they'd check and they said, "oh we'll call you back shortly!" After 2 days of not receiving any calls back despite me checking in repeatedly, I basically had to pull teeth to get the unconcerned gentleman at the desk to finally just go manually check the room himself. He said nothing was in there, and that housekeeping did not turn anything in. So there are a only few implied options here, since matter can not physically vanish in this universe: - Housekeeping did not really clean the closet (yikes) and the clothes vanished with the next guests - Housekeeping did clean the closet and the clothes still vanished (how?) - Someone is not telling the full truth somewhere - I've lost my mind completely and am imagining things 3. Valet cost like $55. In the morning they said it'd take 20 minutes to retrieve the car, which is a little long but reasonable for a busy hotel. At the 45 minute mark (despite them not being very busy, I could see through the window) I finally went back and asked about the car, at which point the gentleman immediately sent someone down to get the car and it was there within 5 minutes. What were they doing in the meantime? By the way, the man who brought the car left his reeking cigarette odor behind, awesome for someone who has asthma. Any one of these issues alone wouldn't prompt me to write a review - I really don't want to come across as a high maintenance person because I'm not. This was death by a thousand (or 3) paper cuts. Also, amenity fee?? LOL Read less
