Nine Zero, A Kimpton Hotel

Boston, USA

The hotel

This luxury Boston hotel is regarded as one of the best in Boston. It's trendy, well positioned and friendly with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Guest rooms provide a welcome retreat from the buzz of the city, featuring a good range of mod cons. For a real treat, take advantage of the in-room spa treatments available, including hot stone massage and spirulina body wrap - pure bliss! There's also a state-of-the-art fitness centre, open 24/7 with complimentary water and towels to cool you down. Because you're so central, there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants in the immediate vicinity but if you're in the mood for another treat (and why no, you're on holiday!), make sure you frequent the hotel's vintage cocktail lounge, the Highball. Popular with the locals, it's a great mix of fun and nostalgia with some killer cocktails to boot.

Hotel is adorable boutique hotel. Beautiful artwork and decor, very friendly helpful staff, but not service oriented. Our first problem, I had to store small ice packs for traveling with medication, and they had NO freezer to put them in (fridge in room, but no freezer). After many phone calls, and long periods of waiting on hold, they finally did accommodate me by asking the restaurant to hold the ice packs. (this should have been done initially). Next problem, a broken elevator that caused 10 -12 minute waits! There were lines to use the elevator. I think that this was because the guests share an elevator with the cleaning staff and the room service people. If they got in the elevator, you would have to wait even longer. I don't think they have a service elevator. The complimentary breakfast was very nice, but we were faced with questions which lead us to believe that they thought my trans-racially adopted daughter was not part of our family, perhaps she was a friend trying to sneak in. It was extremely uncomfortable and offensive. The last problem was printing boarding tickets. I was having phone problems so I wanted to print my tickets so that I wouldn't have to worry at the airport. There no computer to use, so I had to email the boarding pass to a woman who was not in until the next morning. It was not her fault as she was very nice and helpful, but extremely inconvenient. Basically, if you are looking for convenience, this is probably not the best place to stay. Read less

We had a great weekend away from the kids at this hotel. Very friendly welcoming from the front desk. The room was fabulous, with views of the state house. Great location, we were so close to so many good neighborhoods. Water in the lobby with lemon in it was great for July. But just a cool sleek look and vibe.

After a two year battle with health issues, my GF and I decided to spoil ourselves with a long weekend adventure in Boston to celebrate the end of my treatment. I booked the Kimpton Nine Zero and sent a note to manager Phil expressing my excitement about staying at his beautiful hotel. We booked a regular room for a Thursday through Sunday stay. When we arrived the magic began to happen. We were upgraded to a suite and the first 30 minutes in the room we were inundated with amazing hospitality. Several knocks at the door revealed Boston Cream pie, Red Sox souvenirs and welcoming pastries. The room was awesome, breakfast delicious and the hotel is centrally located for a perfect visit to Boston. The best part was the people (hey Liz!) and the care and attention paid to us over our visit. We will be back for sure! Thank you everyone at Kimpton Nine Zero. Read less

I usually always try to book at a Kimpton because I’ve never had a disappointing stay before. Nine Zero was extremely disappointing. Started with the unfriendly greeting where I was made to feel like I an inconvenience. I’m not sure if it was my room or all rooms, but furniture in the room was pretty scuffed and worn out. The room was very small, dark gray, and didn’t have the usual decorated Kimpton charm that makes you feel welcomed and spoiled. The one decent mirror that you could access in the the room and near natural light was oddly blocked by a cabinet so not functional. The backlit light switch above the bed was also way too bright so forget about having a nice pitch black room that you may desperately need to catch up on sleep. Lastly, we must have stayed at the wrong time because we had to complain about the loud neighbors who kept letting their door slam as people were going in and out of their room and talking loudly in the hallway. I understand that they may not be able to quiet people down, but there’s got to be way to not have doors slam behind people. The one consistent thing that was nice was the bed and pillows. They were super comfortable. Other reason why I like staying at Kimpton Hotels. I know these seem like minor complaints, but if you’re used to a nice Kimpton, this isn’t one of them and for the price of $530/night—at a total of almost $600 after taxes—it was not worth it. Room was beautiful, customer service incredible. Location is perfect. All of the staff from valet, door men, concierge were very courteous and professional. Couldn't have been happier with the accommodations.
