Lived in Boston and/or its north shore for over 40 years, working in Back Bay. Our hobby is travel and we’ve have stayed in many beautiful hotels and resorts around the world. Currently spending a few days at this hotel on a staycation and it has come through for us amazingly. We’ve stayed at almost every Boston hotel over the years (it’s what we like to do) and for a staycation (especially with kids and/or if you value the resort feel) the Sonesta ranks at the top. The pool and gym facilities are second to none - am enjoying a beautiful, sunny and warm September Saturday while writing this on the open air pool patio (which in better times was also part of the outdoor Art Bar space). Even on a cloudy, rainy day the pool, with its large sunroof, is beautiful. With the proximity to CambridgeSide Galleria and North End and Government Center reopening restaurants, it makes for a delightful, resort-feeling stay in the city (even if it is just across the river in the People’s Republic). There are only two other Boston proper hotels that come close or match the resort feel. It was our first test (successful!!) of our school-age kids logging on to their remote learning from somewhere other than home. I can highly recommend it if you’re looking for a safe get away and small cure for cabin fever, even if, or especially if, the kids are in remote learning. Rates have never been better. Read less

Stayed at the Royal Sonesta in Boston for a work trip, enjoyed the views from the room immensely. Great onsite food, including a grab and go breakfast option. Overall room was clean and in good condition and like I said - beautiful views of the Charles River.

I had a problem with dripping showerhead that was quickly taken care of.I wish I took more advantage of the in house offerings like the… Read more

Location was on the opposite side of the city so you had a fantastic view of the city sky line. Food in the restaurant was delicious and reasonable priced. Just a little moan, the WiFi… Read more
