379 nautically-styled rooms. All with ceiling fan, flat-screen HDTV, pay-per-view films, WiFi*, mini-fridge, tea/coffee-making facilities, safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Portola Rooms are located throughout the hotel and have 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children.

In addition to their wonderful Jacks of Monterey restaurant which serves an extremely tender Filet Mignon you have all the great restaurants on the wharf within walking distance. No need to get in the car and go anywhere. Everything is right there. Carmel Bakery is also at the hotel there is a beatiful spa and terrific massages available. You can even walk to the beach. Rooms were recently redecorated and beautiful. By week it’s mostly a business conference hotel weekends are vacationers. Beds are extremely wonderful. Was in town for a work event and my company booked a block of rooms. Due to a mistake on my company's side, I did not get the block pricing but did receive a discount for the only room available which was an ADA unit. The room had an uncomfortable mattress and a noisy HVAC unit. My wife also got locked in the bathroom because of an odd latch.… Read more

Due to a mistake on my company's side, I did not get the block pricing but did receive a discount for the only room available which was an ADA unit. The room had an uncomfortable mattress and a noisy HVAC unit. My wife also got locked in the bathroom because of an odd latch. Maybe it was for accessibility but it was tricky. If I was not in the room, she may have been stuck for a while. Not a great room for this hotel. Read less

Our room had a number of maintenance issues. The shower mixing valve wouldn't hold its position and even if you held it in place the water would alternate from cold to scalding hot and back. Several of the power outlets in the room didn't work and the air conditioner was exceedingly loud. The staff offered us another room, but our schedule didn't allow us the time to move our luggage and the staff said that they couldn't get a maintenance crew to our room to repair anything. This room shouldn't have been booked in the condition it was in. Read less

Expensive place, perfect location and great entrance! Long wait line to check in, got to my room, ironing board broken and no soap in the shower. The screen door fell off when I opened it.
