Hyatt Regency Newport Beach

Newport Beach, California Coast

The hotel

Escape to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach — this retreat sits next to the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve so is ideal for a bit of walking, cycling or nature viewing. You'll be welcomed by 26-acres of lush landscaping, before the lobby and bar area lure you in with a calm, coastal California chic theme. Next to the lobby bar, the patio has a fire wall and magnificent views of the bay — and those views carry through to many of the guest rooms. Take your pick from three beautiful outdoor pools: chill at the adults-only 'Indulge' pool and find a restful spot at the 'Serenity' pool, or have fun with the kids at the 'Oasis' pool. Whether your passion is shopping, dining, boating, or performing arts, you’ll find it close by. Hit the beach, take to the water on Newport Bay, or wander the shops at Balboa Island and Fashion Island. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the Aquarium of the Pacific and Laguna Beach are just a little further away.

Great staff and an enjoyable, sprawling property. Perfect location for a reunion or long weekend. The green belts made it ideal for a puppy and the To Go options made it easy to have breakfast in bed beyond room service. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful property with excellent staff. The rooms are clean and very well maintained, the atmosphere is friendly and the staff is all extremely helpful! This is not a resort. One restaurant that was not edible. Room service food was awful. Med rare was burnt and ended up garbage. Pastry was so old and dry I had to go to lobby. Room service coffee Luke warm. The outside of lido building is from the 50s

The hotel is in a great location but the establishment is dated and had rats/possums crawling very near the lobby and fire pit areas. The restaurant was very limited. I think the hotel needs an overhaul but for sure new carpet.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating OK but way overpriced

This hotel was like a courtyard Inn at st. Regis prices. It was clean. The staff was friendly and prompt but simply overpriced for the quality of accomodation. At ~ $300/night there should be free coffee in the lobby in the am and/or a beverage station.(lemon water?) Also, a guest can not turn off the balcony light at night. Very annoying.
