Hilton Concord

Oakland, California Coast

The hotel

Set against views of Mount Diablo, Hilton Concord’s thought of everything you need for a stay in East Bay. First there’s the location: it’s right between Waterworld California and the Willows and Sun Valley shopping centres, each a stroll away; and its complimentary shuttle runs to the Concord BART station for easier trips into San Francisco. Then there are the hotel’s own attractions, from the fitness centre, outdoor pool and whirlpool, to its various watering holes, ideal whether you just want to grab a Starbucks coffee on your way out, or linger over a glass of Napa or Sonoma wine on your way back in. And finally it adds the pleasingly named ‘Plate & Vine’, serving locally sourced north Californian favourites against an on-trend backdrop of brick walls and rustic detailing.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Hotel needs a refresh compared to other Hilton properties

The hotel can benefit from a refresh - I stay at Hilton properties exclusively for work and leisure and unfortunately this property does not compare well to others. It’s a Hilton and struggles to compete with its other brands?

Ehhh… communication could have been better. Zero amenities. No restaurant, no pool, and no stay over service. If your still using COVID as an excuse… okay….. but advertise that clearly. . Also there was an unnecessary $200 deposit which I’m assuming is because of the rate drop. Maybe they need a rebranding… ? the rooms are very out dated. The… Read more

Not the best room quality but good customer service! The rooms just seem old & in need of a re-do...especially the bath. However, after a deposit you end up paying the same amount as some nicer ones in the area.

The location was great and the property was clean and secure. The bar and pool were still closed, but the rooms were clean and quiet. I had peace of mind as a solo traveler knowing you had to use your hotel keycard to get to your room floor as well as enter and exit the paid parking lot. I would definitely stay again.

My daughter played 3 softball games yesterday in Concord in 106’ weather during a major heat wave/advisory. We decided to stay overnight before day 2 of the tournament instead of driving home an hour away. We called the hotel from the field and booked a room. Arriving at the hotel, looking (correctly) like we were exhausted after 3 games on a 106’ day, we were “helped” at the reservation desk by David (I think that was his name -I was later told he was from another hotel snd just filling in.) I asked if he had water available. (Handing even just my daughter a free bottle of water would have gone a LONG way at that moment!) He refused to give us a free water bottle, telling us cold ones were $3 each and room temperature bottles were $2 each. Only after we had paid were we told that the pool was closed. (In July. In California. During a heatwave. Over a year after COVID started and after things are now open.) The beds and pillows were good enough. However, there was black mold/dirt in the corners of the bathroom (I took two pictures but accidentally deleted them when deleting other pictures from the weekend.) The in-room fridge/freezer had been left open by the last guest or housekeeping so it wasn’t cold, so we needed that to be fixed so we could use the fridge to keep water (that we bought at $3/bottle and additional bottles that we bought outside the hotel later) cold for the next day’s tournament. The in-room wall a/c box was insufficient, loud, and probably dated from the 1960s. We will not stay here again. Read less
