Oakland Marriott City Center

Oakland, California Coast

The hotel

A gentle nod to Oakland’s jazz and blues scene welcomes you to Marriott Oakland City Center. But the modern tailoring of its spacious guestrooms, the Californian flair of its dining venues, the cool urban styling of its outdoor pool deck and fitness studio, and the fabulous downtown setting are all quick to distract you. California-inspired dishes, and wine lists infused with Napa and Sonoma vintages are the perfect pairing for evenings in at the hotel’s Level Two restaurant and Twelve Bar Lounge. But dining out’s easy too, with Chinatown’s Asian flavours a block away, and Jack London Square’s waterfront eateries around 6 blocks away. Mere metres from the nearest BART station, you can even be whisked off to the world-class restaurants (and sightseeing) of San Francisco in just 12 minutes.

Decent property that is basically attached to the convention center. We were there for a family visit but that did not detract from our stay - I don’t think there was a convention on at the time so that probably helped. Easy to get around from there walking, public transport or car. I’d say the only issue is that the rooms are somewhat dated but… Read more

Plenty of choices for food and entertainment close by as well. Read less

Booked by my employer in downtown Oakland. Not a great surrounding area but hotel rooms very good. Close to Jack London Square. Room service fast and very good. Beds comfortable with nice linen. Some rooms with bathtubs and some with just showers. Lobby furniture looking a bit worn. Overall, a nice stay.

Stayed here 3 nights while attending a conference. Room was clean and a good size with fridge, safe, and coffee maker. My room did not have a view, but I caught an amazing sunset one night by going to the 21st floor and looking out the window by the elevators. I parked in the parking garage connected to the Convention Center. Paying at the parking garage is cheaper than paying through the hotel. I paid $88 for 3 nights. BART to SFO takes about 40 minutes and costs $10. BART to SF costs about $8-10 round trip and takes about 25 minutes. BART station is right across street. Uber to SF costs about $30. Uber to Berkeley costs about $15. Lots of restaurants nearby. Went to Blue Bottle coffee and Shiba Ramen, both good. Walked to Jack London Square, Oakland Museum of CA, and Lake Merritt. Also went to nearby Lucky Foot Spa in Chinatown and had a great massage. Walgreens nearby as well. Try Trappist for a beer. Many homeless people in the city, so bring some bags of toiletries/snacks to hand out. Very nice stay and would return if visiting Oakland again. Read less

Front Desk customer Service at check in was great(informed me sbout restaurants close by)even though gorgot most of it by the time got in room & settled. Very clean hotel exterior & interior. Vending machines should've been filled on floors especially knowing you got conference participants coming (got in on Tues, conference start Wednesday afternoon, vending machine on 7th fl never was refilled.) My biggest disappointment is only 1 restaurant choice within hotel & the prices were outrageously high. At least add more variety...The Marriott in Washington DC (Waterman Park) much better food wise(choices) but same high price Read less
