For the price paid I expected a bit more from this hotel. The staff was not very friendly more transactional than welcoming. The room was in need of a deep clean. There is a $6 charge for the bottle water in the room which for the price of the room was a bit much. The nice balcony with a view of the ocean was the best part of the stay. Overall… Read more

Price, beautiful comfy rooms, great linen and shower/ bathroom combined with opportunity for a room with a view. We've done ocean and harbor view and loved both choices. Welcoming front desk staff and option to dine at Baleen for breakfast and lunch really rounded out the stay. While you're at it don't hesitate to ride bikes or even walk to the pier for fun viewing and enjoying fish markets and super loud, fun bars. (If that's your scene :) Redondo Beach area was new to us and completely a future destination! Read less

Location. Location. Location. Portofino was centrally-located to all we wanted to do while visiting the South Bay. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious. Staff was always pleasant. Beach bikes were comfortable. Really enjoyed staying here....

I stayed here with my mom and my sister for what was supposed to be a little "treat yourself" staycation while my mom was visiting LA. When we entered our room, we were struck with a smell that my mom described perfectly as "the inside of a vacuum cleaner". We had to open our balcony door and air the place out for several hours to make it tolerable. For whatever reason, the hotel has loud music blaring on speakers in the hallways, which was so noisy that it sounded like it was being played inside our room. The music stayed on til 10 at night. Every time anyone in our hallway opened or closed their doors, our door and wall literally shook. This woke us up frequently throughout the night. Our "marina view" was actually just a few of the parking lot. I think we paid $30/night to park and something like a $30 resort fee as well which just seemed silly considering how much we were already paying for our room. Overall, a waste of money. Read less
