We loved this place! The air smells so good, as flowers are all around! The room was very big (we were 3 people) as well as the bathroom. There is also a little living room area with a fireplace! It is really quaint and romantic. Everybody is so nice and beauty is all around. There is a pool but we couldn't use it, as it was too cold. Bakery has… Read more

This almost ticked all the boxes for us. We had a basement room that meant we needed lights on all the time but compared to our last hotel in Carmel that stank of damp we thought it was an improvement. We had a basement room that meant we needed lights on all the time but compared to our last hotel in Carmel that stank of damp we thought it was an improvement. Beautifully clean and in good decorative order. However a toddler running across the floor, banging wardrobe doors after 10pm was not welcome. Reception did manage to eventually contact and it stopped. During the next day after sight seeing we again had 2hours of toddler running across floor. That night adult walking across floor until midnight. The floor creaked and the guest sounded like they were wearing lead boots. Industrial ear plugs have failed. Seriously spoilt what potentially could of been a decent stay. Fingers crossed our next hotel has better sound proofing. Read less

Be careful when making reservations if there is any uncertainty as to your ability to stay for the reserved days …. The following describes our experience when making reservations ONE YEAR in advance for a weekend where the Apple Farm is certain to be booked solid …. Again, reservations for two nights (due to AF's requirement for a two-night stay on Cal Poly's graduation weekend) were made one year in advance and we paid for the first night. We recently learned that we would not be able to stay for the reserved weekend and called two weeks in advance to the reserved dates. The gentleman we spoke to on the telephone was courteous and told us it would not be a problem to cancel as the hotel had a SEVEN (7) day advance notice requirement to cancel to obtain a full refund. We told him we already paid for the first night so the then told us to speak to Lynn Hamel the following day to confirm the cancellation. We called the following day as instructed. To our dismay and despite saying "We have a heart," Ms. Hamel refused our cancellation request saying the hotel has a THIRTY (30) day advance notice requirement; consequently, the hotel will not cancel our reservations and will NOT refund our first night's deposit. Secondly, the room rate for the two nights works out to $980 including taxes and required fees, which is excessively high considering the Apple Farm is not a luxury hotel such as those found in San Francisco. I checked Hotels.com and found many other comparable places to stay that cost significantly less!!! Third, we decided to go to the hotel anyway despite the financial hardship ... When we checked in the clerk told me the hotel was completely booked. In fact, he said the hotel was booked almost a year in advance!!! Too, the hotel received many inquiries recently asking for room availability. Based on that, I see no reason why the hotel refused our request to cancel our reservations as there it could have rented the room to other travelers. Fourth, don't eat at the over-priced restaurant. My salmon was dry and the vegetables were soggy and mushy. My wife's prime rib ($33) had to be returned as it was not prepared properly. I would rate the entree on a par with Denny's .... Fifth, the room was decorated in an "grandmotherly" design with too many chotzkies, too much floral wallpaper, too many framed pictures of flowers, etc.... I felt like I was at an old ladies' home ... I am 66 years old so this is not a slight on seniors .... Sixth, if I am going to be paying $450 per night I expect a room that has upgraded furnishings, design, view, etc. The Apple Farm had none of that ... The bathroom was (although clean), not updated and offered a cheap shower-tub set-up rather than a granite/stone shower …. The TV was an old RCA plasma rather than a more recent quality TV …. The picture was not sharp at all so it must have been a 720 rather than an 1080 pixel …. Walking into the restaurant, it seemed like I was walking into a swap meet due to all of the junk offered for sale. Bottom line, avoid The Apple Farm ...... I had a terrible experience .... Read less

The bed was so small (yes we had a standard room) and also the aircon noisy we could'nt have it on long. Also the outside area directly outside room is noisy early and late. I cant really say anymore than its a travel lodge with a higher price. The walk to town is good about 20 minutes downhill but plenty of bars and restaurants en-route. Good brew house 5 minute walk away. Read less
