My husband and I did a one week road trip from San Jose down to San Diego. We decided to take the scenic route down HWY 1 and stayed one night at Apple Farm Inn on the way down. I absolutely fell in love with the charm of this place. I was a bit car sick when we arrived, but the welcome from the gentleman at the front desk made us feel SO welcomed! My husband isn't 100% sure, but he thinks the gentleman checking us in was the manager. He was extremely friendly, greeted us with cookies, wine, and an overview of everything great about the Apple Farm Inn. Some other things I loved: they had cute little fall decor everywhere you looked, there was flowing hot apple cider, hot chocolate, and coffee in the lobby, a welcome gift basked in the room, the restaurant/bakery had a delicious apple dumpling, and the gift shop is adorable! The rooms are super comfortable and cozy. I can't wait to find another excuse to come out to SLO just to stay here again - the holiday decor looks amazing! Thank you Apple Farm Inn! Read less

Had to stay overnight in San Luis Obispo for a family event and did the usual search for hotels/reviews, pics, etc. Wanted a safe, clean, comfortable hotel/motel and there were a lot of hotels near the family but none seemed great. Apple Inn was the most expensive but looked nice. I read one of the reviews about treatment of a person who was Asian and was sensitive to how I might be treated, being part Japanese. Parking was easy on arrival. The lobby is very welcoming. Comfortable benches by the windows and centrally. Many people were visiting with each other, families, couples. Warm. Checkin was very fast and friendly, offering home-baked cookies and wine (happy hour had just started). (The cookies were really good - definitely baked there) My room was on the first floor and the hallway to the room was a bit over decorated for the holidays but - hey - that's ok Many rooms were set back in twos (i.e. two rooms) with another door that could be closed to the hallway - making the rooms really quiet The ice and vending machines were also behind a door which was a nice touch - keeping traffic and noise contained. All doors are locked after 9pm making guests ring the bell at the front to get entry - very safe. Yes, a bit of a hassle but it keeps non-guest from walking hallways. The room was large, very clean, warm, comfortable. The fireplace was a nice touch, the bed was comfortable - not overly but nice. I like a really soft bed and this bed was softer than many hotels but not really soft. Temperature control in the room was good - not overly noisy. Complimentary bottles of water and apple cider - nice! Lots of channels on the TV. Refrig. Everything was in working condition. Bathroom, large - bright! Nothing worse than trying to put on makeup in a dim bathroom. Overall - I would definitely recommend Apple Hill Inn and if I have to stay overnight in SLO again, it would be here. Another family member stayed at the San Luis Inn and Suites on Santa Rosa. I picked her up for some of the activities and the differences was significant - I am very glad I stayed at Apple Hill! Like the Anderson Pea Soup places, this place is a tourist trap of the first order, with only slightly better food than Anderson's....but very good service. Although this place has the distinction of being in a few movies (My Blue Heaven, for one), its not all that.

The Apple Farm Inn is a great choice if you are visiting San Luis Obispo. It is very conveniently located, just off US101 and minutes from the SLO downtown area and from Cal Poly. We found our room in the principal building of the Inn to be very spacious and comfortable, although the electrical outlets reflected an earlier era. For example, no USB port, but the WiFi support was just fine. Everyone at the front desk seemed hell-bent on being helpful, and the afternoon wine is always welcome. When you step outside, the wooded hills make a great backdrop to a pleasant stay. Finally, the breakfasts are outstanding, and a many of the offerings are large enough for two to share. The Gazebo Room in the restaurant is especially nice. When in SLO, I would not hesitate to come back to Apple Farm Inn Read less
