Inn at Morro Bay

San Luis Obispo, California Coast

The hotel

Squeezed between Morro Bay and a golf course, this waterfront hotel’s taken over a whole patch of prime seaside real estate, giving you views of the bay and Morro Rock. Inside it’s dressed for the occasion, with nautical navy and white adding to its seaside flavour. Sitting on the edge of Morro Bay State Park, it’s midway between LA and San Francisco – something reflected by its popular 60 State Park Restaurant and Lounge, where the bay view draws you in, and the Central Coast cuisine makes sure you stay – whether you’re tucking into clam chowder in a sourdough bowl for lunch or the 60 State Park Burger for dinner. And, with its motel style, it’s made for those wanting to explore the region’s missions, wineries, beaches, and lighthouses, before relaxing on the pretty terrace with its pool and hot tub.

Wrapped in blankets and outdoor heaters going, we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and had great hummus and veggies. The waitress was very upbeat and very accommodating. The food looked and smelled great, though we did not have any. Will be back to stay at another time!

Don't let the stars fool you - this place sucks and it's filthy. We left within 12 hours. The rooms' cleaning standards must be extremely low and several other reviewers have said the same. It's unfortunate we dropped our bags and went straight to dinner without inspecting the room. After returning from dinner, it was too much of a hassle to transfer rooms. The "deluxe" bay view king suite we upgraded to had several pieces of leftover pubic hair in the bathroom, finger smudges on the closet mirror, and coffee residue in the mugs next to the Keurig. Also, the bay view essentially looks onto a parking lot with partial water view. The floors were sticky and the bathroom door's paint was peeling off. To top it off, the television wiring had to be pulled out of the cabinet and strung in front of the fireplace to plug it in. After all that work, the remote control was dead. Everything I touched felt greasy - we were truly disgusted. I've decided to cut our trip short because of this filthy hotel. Read less

The Inn at Morro Bay has been in business for many years, and has been remodeled beautifully. The service in their restaurant was great, and it has a fabulous view of Morro Rock. The property is also pet-friendly - a big plus for those of us who travel with our dogs.

We attended a family birthday in Morro Bay and some of the guests stayed at the inn. They said how good the breakfast was in the restaurant so twelve of us had dinner there last Sunday. Everyone of us raved about the quality of the meal. Three had prime rib and said it was the most tender. I had fish and chips but not just any old fish -… Read more

Everyone of us raved about the quality of the meal. Three had prime rib and said it was the most tender. I had fish and chips but not just any old fish - halibut! Who serves halibut as fish and chips these days? It was delicious - so fresh and cooked to perfection. Kudos to the chef. Tracey who served both our drinks and food was a total delight and made our visit so much fun. The next time any of us visits Morro Bay the Inn will definitely be on our list! Thank you. Read less
