Inn at Morro Bay

San Luis Obispo, California Coast

The hotel

Squeezed between Morro Bay and a golf course, this waterfront hotel’s taken over a whole patch of prime seaside real estate, giving you views of the bay and Morro Rock. Inside it’s dressed for the occasion, with nautical navy and white adding to its seaside flavour. Sitting on the edge of Morro Bay State Park, it’s midway between LA and San Francisco – something reflected by its popular 60 State Park Restaurant and Lounge, where the bay view draws you in, and the Central Coast cuisine makes sure you stay – whether you’re tucking into clam chowder in a sourdough bowl for lunch or the 60 State Park Burger for dinner. And, with its motel style, it’s made for those wanting to explore the region’s missions, wineries, beaches, and lighthouses, before relaxing on the pretty terrace with its pool and hot tub.

Where is it

Between Morro Bay and an 18-hole golf course, this hotel is just a mile from Morro Rock, a stroll from the Museum of Natural History, and 1.1 miles from Morro Bay Aquarium and Central Coast Maritime Museum. The location of this property was its biggest pull for me. The overall vibe of the place is very pleasant and welcoming. They quickly retreived a pesonal item i had accidently left in my room. Lot of options within and around state park in which they are located. However i gaveit 3 stars as a lot can be improved in the room and Hotel Amenities to attract one time guests back again. I stayed in the most expensive room which they advertise as the room with full view of bay. Considering the price i paid during a weekday when there are several options to choose from in the area, the hotel can do better in hospitality. A welcome bottle of water instead of charging for even first one would be nice. There was a sewage type smell in the shower water for which i was told its the city issue. A more effective exhaust fan is needed in the bathroom to ward off the shower water smell which lingers for so long and spreads in the room as well. As some one else suggested in reviews, a full length mirror is a big miss in the room/bathroom. Lastly, even though waterfront with balcony, the price they charge for the room on a weekday was still pretty steep with no included breakfast option. They cited COVID as the reason but that should impact the price as well Read less

The rooms are small, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway, too much to do and see in Morro Bay. There is one restaurant/bar at the hotel. The hours are short and they stop seating and serving at 8pm. The service in the restaurant is kind of lacking. Not enough staff, but the waitresses really worked hard to keep up. The view is amazing though from all the tables. Read less

Beautiful location and property; a nice step up from the motels in town. Service lacking. Not enough receptionists at checkin; after 2 hour wait, room still not ready. No housekeeping during 3-day stay. Had to find a dumpster to empty trash bins, then find a maid to get more TP, towels and coffee supplies (but she didn't have the towels or… Read more

worst place I have ever stayed on the central coast. Room was filthy, mold, peeling paint, poor internet service. No manager on-site to share this information with. I would not recommend this place to anyone. For the price it was not worth it.
